Perhaps, but Spines/Dark overall
(theres more than a tray full of Toggles to choose from, and I can't help but choose to run them all)
Put the Theft of Essence proc in your Dark Regneration. If you'reusing it against large enough groups, it will restore enough end to make DR "free" (ie, pay itself back) most of the time, and ith lucky rolls, you can sometimes end up ahead.

To try and solve u're end issues, take a look at my post MA/DA love plz It's just a few down from this one. I went from burning about 2.3 end/s I think it was, maybe more, to just over 1.3 end/s. Alot of great advice was given to me there and the build looks better then before I posted. You won't have that much acc or rchg bonus if you go that route, but you won't have game breaking end issues with it either and your def will be decent. And I took OG as well. I have never liked the power (stupid red egg), but I have always taken it since it is a good minion mitigation power.

Just for kicks I slotted the Stupefy chance for KB into OG and it was one of the funniest things to watch. It was on my Spines/Dark so it looked like sometimes the quills would shoot out and knock things around.
Not practical but funny

I have it slotted on my fire/dark brute also. It can be very funny to watch mobs go flying for no reason at all. Always makes me smile .

It's very practical for the defender version of OG which is why I have the proc there.

Ugh, I hate it myself. I have both OG & Dark Pit 6-slotted w/Stupefy for the def bonus, and I hate having have to slot the stupid KB proc. Hurts more that TT is a soft immob and doesn't shut down the KB that invariably follows. The only source of humor is when a teammate starts looking around for the invisible energy blaster.
Oh, and I'm not exactly a fan of OG to begin with, tho it's handy being able to stack a mag 4 stun on bosses w/Dark Pit. Not sure if I'd ever try it on a melee toon.

I don't think I'd ever try that on a Defender. :P I can't help but wonder if that scatter is actually hurting your survivability more than it's helping. It's spreading things out so that DN, Fluffy, and DN are all less effective, while at the same time reducing your ability to stack tohit debuffs from TT and NF. Couple that with the fact you can knock things out of your own Tar Patch... Ungh. Just doesn't seem worth it to me.
On the other hand, a defender could knock things IN to their tar patch, if they were fast or lucky enough to avoid it....
All these different topics about /DA have me thinking about giving the set another try on a scrapper. With my stalker, I didn't take the mezz toggles so I relied on the res toggles and shadow dweller. Shadow dweller has about as much def as combat jumping. So basicly I was screwed vs Rikti and other nrg heavy foes.(I owned carnies though) they say third time the charm and know a lot more now then I did then so I just might.

Actually, I'm Cold/Dark w/that build, but same general problems (Sleet instead of Tar Patch, etc) apply. And yeah, like I said, I'm really not fond of the effect. Then again, I only really even took OG as a Stupefy mule, and don't run it all the time. When I do, it's to stack w/Dark Pit--I never try to stun just minions w/OG by itself. I *would* run it all the time w/o the KB proc tho since there's no other reason not to (the HP drain is more than covered by Health and +regen).

It works for me though because I'm playing an Emp/Dark/Dark and using it as an end free repel for lieuts and bosses (the minions get stunned) that the tank doesn't have control over (usually when they exceed the aggro cap). Most of the buffs I'm using have a long animation time I'm locked into and it's saved me a number of times when this happens and it procs. Also good when I get into close but not melee range to pop Auras during combat.

In the past I'd been dismissive of Oppressive Gloom and Cloak of Fear.
But today, I used a Respec to give Oppressive Gloom another try.
It's a cheap build, but has the Kismet IO, and a little global acc bonus. The thing is though, to do this, I traded of some of my defense, and yet, with OG running, it is VASTLY more survivable.
So i'm guessing I just hadn't given it enough love with +Acc previously.
End result = I'm loving it.
So i take back any bad things I said about OG, it is AWESOME, and I'm loving it
