Personal Hideouts or Lairs

I would like to have my own personal hideout. My own Fotress of Solitude for say. I like the sg thing. But I like to solo a few of my toons. A place to store recipes and what nots. It could be put into an expansion pack.

Take your solo toons and mule them into a one-person sg.

As others have said just make a solo SG. You can even put your solo SG's into coalition with eachother.

Oh and just an FYI to the OP, the only place you can store recipes is in your transaction slots at the consignment house.

That's not very good advice at all. Seriously, have you ever tried doing searches with such common phrases as "SG" or "personal"? You'd spend hours sorting through the 20,000 posts that will be presented to you. It's a valid suggestion that the OP brings up, and if a topic hasn't been addressed recently, it doesn't hurt to reintroduce it again.

I've believed for a long time that it'd be a great feature if players could have their own personal areas. In the comics, many characters have their own personal base from which they operate, the SG base being separate and dedicated for the supergroup. Superman has his Fortress of Solitude and Batman has his Batcave, while both are still part of the JLA which has its own headquarters and is more advanced than their private ones.

My idea was for players to be given their own personal spot consisting of just a room or two. You'd have access to a couple of storage containers (inspirations, salvage) and, of course, all the decorative items. At first, when you're low level, you could choose to have your home in one of the lowbie zones. As you level up, you could choose to "move" to higher level zones, if you desired. One of the doors to an existing building can be the entrance to your home/base. It could also introduce new types of missions to the game. Imagine running through a contact's story arcs fighting, for example, Freakshow, and then that contact tells you at some point that the freaks are planning on attacking you in your home. By accepting the mission, when you go home, you trigger waves of ambushes in your own apartment/lair. It could be fun.

The tech is already in place, it wouldn't be outrageous to expand it to the players.

Then you need to learn how to search. Here is a helpful guide provided by Memphis Bill.

a tip on searching.
1. Click on "Search" up at the top of the forum.
2. On the left, under "Forum(s) to search," select "Suggestions and ideas."
3. On the right, Keyword Search Terms. This is probably where your problem was if you did search. Try the following, exactly as typed:

+vehicle -"re: "

This will search for anything with the string "vehicle" in the title. The -re: portion of it removes replies, so you'll see the root of every thread that comes up, letting you see just how many threads there are on this. (The last helps for other subjects, as well.)

Be sure to put the space between the colon and last quote.

4. Click the "In subject" radio button. This is a search, not a cute blonde in a bikini. Here, you want to ignore the body.

5. Leave Username Search blank.

6. Date range, Newer Than, change the 1 to a 3, and the time to Months.

7. Result format doesn't matter. Click on "Submit."

That should help you with your searches in the future.

I do know how to search, I'm pointing out that even with refinements in your searches, you can get thousands of responses.

And frankly, I don't think it matters that someone brought up an idea a year ago. If it's a decent idea, then maybe it deserves to be brought up more frequently. If only truly original, never-been-posted-before ideas/information/questions are allowed to be posted, we wouldn't have much of a forum.

Even the "search before you post" posts here have been brought up before.

I'd like to see Apartments honestly. You pick the zone and just pick a random door in kingsrow for example. Your apartment would just be like a door mission. "Oh I like this area! It's not far from where the clockwork paladin usually hangs out. So I'll buy an apartment across the street from it"

It would be a permanent mission in your active tasks and if you wanted to enter your apartment with or without friends, just set it as the active mission.

If that is true then you are exagerating to be dramatic.

1. You will never get thousands of responses. the limit a search provides is 200.

2. No one said anyone should be searching for things posted a year ago. In the guide I provided it clearly states a person searching should limit the search to 1-3 months.

3. If you follow the guide and only search the title using +vehicle -"re: " you further reduce the number of results.

For example following Memphis Bill's guide I just did a search using "lairs" across all the forums and I got exactly 3 results.

Three is a far cry from thousands.

I do. I also post the same suggestion about every 9 months. I like it enough to keep bringing it up again.

I do a search and if it doesn't show up as pretty darn recent, I post it as a new thread.

Yeah, it's exaggerated... kinda. As your search might not come back in that first batch of 200, you may have to try it a couple times. It's potentially thousands.

Whether or not it upsets the forum police, I view it like this.... once I spent a good five or ten minutes searching, if it doesn't show up, it's not worth digging up.

They can already store recipes....you just gotta craft them into enhancements first.
(Okay, you can't do that with temp power recipes, costume part recipes and Respec recipes, but of those, only the Respec-ipes aren't cheap.)

I figure if you get more than 200 hits and don't bother reading any of the threads they're in, maybe... there's something else to consider.

Yeah, search in this game forum is pretty stupid. But google does work, and it's not THAT hard to get an idea of how many times an idea has come up, if you DO use the proper search methods.

I agree with this 110% especially when we have so many examples of posts that would never come up in a search.

I don't think anyone would expect someone to find a topic under a title like "Best idea ever", or some of the other colorful titles we've seen over the years that have nothing to do with the suggestion itself.

I think most of us are just happy if the effort gets made, although there will always be a few that take things to extremes.

Oh and rereading my first sentence when I posted Bill's guide, I see I could have worded it better. Using that tiny piece of gray matter I have, it does seem confrontational.

As for the other responses - no, I dont want to form a 1 man SG to do this. Tried it once & frankly the rooms are too massive - I'd like a regular apartment sized room(or rooms).

And what if you want your own personal space, and are already in a SG?

Yes, it is. You have to have at least ONE friend in the game who can make a mule character right? Get yourself to level 10, start your SG.

Invite them to it, and switch out your characters, having them boost them into the group and change their rank if needed. Then, they either stay in the sg if you trust em, or leave if you request it - bingo, you have a 1-person SG.
