BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE PVP

How about you being back the old style pvp and get rid of this so called GARBAGE pvp system you have now!

Cross-posting is instant failure.

Not going to happen, from what we're told, and cross posting is against the forum rules. This doesn't have anything to do with constructive discussion of I15. If you were unhappy with the answers in the thread you posted in Player Questions on the same subject, perhaps you should have that thread moved to the Suggestions forum where there's a better chance it will be debated as a suggestion.

Seriouly the dev's brought this garbage pvp style to so call bring new pvper to pvp. Epic fail its didn't really happen. They tried to make it equal by nerfing things. That didn't work as well. They should make two zones one with all these changes and another the old school pvping...

Yes, let's double the number of PvP zones...

After all, if people have trouble finding others to PvP among four zones, they should have no issues (because they will never) ever find someone to PvP with again!

It really isn't.

The old PvP sucked. It really did.

The new PvP still sucks. But in my opinion, it's better than the previous version.

Yeah, you're probably right. Faced-paced combat, ATs that had defined roles, powers that did the same thing they did in PvP as they did in PvE, and the ability of support toons to actually contribute to a team meaningfully other than damage kinda sucked. All the new PvP has done is replace various imbalances with more imbalances, most of which are far worse.

Was old PvP perfect? Heck no - and yet it was one of the best PvP games the MMO market had. There was a nice long list of issues or potential tweaks that would've made it better, but instead of listening to the input and feedback of the people that used the system every day, they decided to completely randomly tack things on and change stuff all willy-nilly, then when the PvPers complained, they said "We're listening and we'll implement your suggestions!" (they didn't).

Nope, he's saying that in PvP 2.0, if you prefer playing support characters, you might as well go play something that does damage instead, because you'll be making a more meaningful contribution that way.

That is exactly my point.

However, this is the only thing I like about the new PvP. I, myself, was not into PvP. I hated it. Why? Because I couldn't have fun. Why couldn't I have fun, you ask?

Because there would be a Night Widow in a zone with over 70% defense to everything WITHOUT their Tier 9 who could not be touched. Because fighting a Stone Tank would almost always lead to a draw. Because unless you were a 'pro' with a very specific FoTM build, you kept losing and losing and losing, with no signs of potential win.

In PvP 2.0, most of those still apply. I'm not a pro, and I still keep losing. There are still very specific FoTM builds runnin' around who are nearly monsters. However, in PvP 2.0, even though I still lose to them, this round I have FUN while losing to them. Why, you ask? Because at least I -have- a chance of win, regardless how small it is. I can actually hit stuff with my cheap PvE build. I can actually make my enemy run away with my clumsy PvP skills.

I can imagine how if you were a 'king' back then are all sad cause you lost your crown to some 'noobs'. But us noobs actually enjoy some of the new changes because now we can also take a shot at that crown.

As I said, on the other hand, the new PvP is ridiculous at times. Personally, I think the whole damage changes, the heal suppression, and the Mez suppression COULD be implemented more cleverly. And that is why even for us noobs, the new PvP is far from perfect. But it's better. Not by much, but still better.

That Night Widow with 70% defense was probably teamed, because those kinds of defense numbers outside of Elude are just about impossible without external buffs. It's at that time you get a teammate to buff your tohit (hello, Emp!) so you can hit through that defense, grab a character that debuffs defense (Rad, Storm, Cold, Therm, Earth troller, TA, etc), or grab a character with Aim or Build Up. Things with lots of defense or resistance (or a combination of the two, like the aforementioned Stone Tanker) are supposed to be tough to kill. Look at PvP combat like going up against an AV. Sure you can try by yourself, but unless you've got a specific build that's designed to do very well at that, you'd to best to bring along teammates to help. Under the old rules, a single well-played character could hold their own against larger numbers of enemies unless those enemies were coordinated and knew what they were doing.

You didn't need to be a pro or have a specific FotM build in PvP to do well (those were two of the biggest misconceptions about pre-I13 PvP). You just had to understand the mechanics of the system, accept that there were some characters you might not be able to beat on a particular character (a Fire Blaster might have issues beating a Fire Tanker, for example). It took a lot of losing and a lot of stupid mistakes on my part to become a decent PvPer, and it kind of sucks that after all that, the system was dumbed down for those that couldn't be arsed to put in the effort to do the same. Does that mean it was imbalanced? I don't think so - it just means that there was a rock-paper-scissors style of gameplay, and that's within reason for MMO PvP.

I'm not trying to belittle you, and I suppose I can't fault you for liking the new PvP system better. However, it seems to me that many of the people that like the new system (again, not pointing at anyone specifically here) were ones who were consistently complaining about various things (people complaining about Stalkers only needed to learn to always keep moving, but their complaints were answered by free base resistances and a nerf in the damage of AS, for example), when all they had to do was learn to avoid those situations.

Exactly. But believe it or not, a lot of people around here don't have time, patience, and motivation to 'learn'. We've learned enough in RL. Now we're here to play a game and have fun. I shouldn't -have- to taken Hasten on all my characters to perform decently in PvP. I shouldn't -have- to take Super Speed and learn the 'technique' of running around and jousting. That, actually, was my biggest complaint about old PvP. It was -all- two people Super Speeding around each other. It isn't fixed much right now either, but it's improved.

In my opinion, in a good PvP system, any AVERAGE build played by any AVERAGE player should have a CHANCE of winning, even if it is a very small chance. The old PvP system did not offer this.

In regards to a Night Widow with 70% defense, no. The person in question was solo. And it -is- possible with stacked Mind Link and enough Recharge with loads of Defense bonuses from IOs.

That has to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever read in my life.

So you think that someone that's spent YEARS doing something to get better at it shouldn't have an advantage over someone doing it for the first time in their life?

You know how rational people get a chance of beating good players? They play the game and get better at it themselves. They don't say "I'm too lazy to learn to play, so just make everybody else suck horribly like me".

In addition, you don't seem to even understand how this game works. This isn't a first person shooter that's based on pure skill. Everything in the game is based on a random number generator. So even a baddo like you COULD have a small chance against a good player, just by getting lucky. That's right, even before I13. So there goes that whole argument of yours.
