Solo AV

Is there any AV soloing videos of Defenders? I've never actually seen a Defender solo an AV.

In addition:

Has any Emp/ Defenders ever soloed an AV? It would mostly depend on your secondary, but I haven't heard of it.

Rad/sonic is a beast, doubtful that emp could, as it has no internal way to boost damage, or debuff res/def/regen. Dark/ would probably be decent too.

Posted

I dont have any videos of it sadly, as I just recently got my recording prgrams up and running. Though, I have solod Chimera, Marauder, Ghost Widow, and um... a few others that arent coming to my brain right now.

My defender is a Rad/Sonic.

Also, looks for some of SIlverados posts, he has a site full of images and videos of his GM/AV fights.

Pretty sure someone solo'd infernal on their emp.

Fair enough, I suppose it also depends if you're using temps, insp, etc.
And I guess after some of the things I've seen on the boards, I only doubt it because I've never seen it.

Edit:
Not to say that the emp that did it needed temps etc

Posted

I keep hearing tales of an empath who summoned an army of temp pets (Shivan, Warwolf, Amy, HVAS, etc), buffed them 10 different ways into next tuesday and then proceeded to "solo" Infernal

I don't have any videos, but the screenshots are on my sig (they show the linear sequence of the fights with the full GUI on at all times)

I solod Anti matter on my emp/rad.....

......admittedly he was -8 lvls at the time

Storm/Sonic Vs. AVs

The latest few videos are of Frontrunner using only small inspirations (mostly blues), no temps.

Dark/Elec? I haven't tried, but I'm fairly certain my dark/elec could give it a go.

I'll get back to you on that one.

Pre-ED Dark/Darks used to so it almost routinely. My D3 main, Spookie, has quite a list of AVs to her credit.

That was then...this is now.

I'm leveling up a Rad/Sonic with the goal of creating a solo AV hunter Defender. Others have done this, so there is apparently some good build info out there. When I get her a bit further along, I'll start really planning her final set-up.

My current AV hunter is an Illusion/Kinetics Controller. Very, very effective...but she's turning into a 2 billion inf build. Yikes!

I'm curious is this before or after the LS change? I can't quite tell because the video is sped up.

I really don't get the "Rad/Sonic kills GMs" thing. How? I mean, apparently it's possible, but HOW? Is there some ultra-secret specific build that you must take, and slot in a specific way, in order to do it? Or is it "soloing" in the sense that you and a bunch of temp pets do it?

I tried to build my rad/sonic to tackle GMs. I've got soft-capped ranged def, my debuffs are slotted well (imo), and yet they still have anywhere from 20-30% chance to hit me, and I can't overcome their regen, due to lingering radiation not being permanent (I don't have 200% recharge, since I don't have hasten).

Is this only something you can do when you're purpled out to the gills with a 2-billion build or something?

1) Lingering Radiation: DPS requirement is now 1/4 as large. Approximately. Some GMs have slightly different values such as Lusca's head...which has no -regen resistance from what I saw (a single Benumb, equal in magnitude to LR was completely shutting off its regen...which wasn't the right number to begin with since it was recovering something like 375 hp/s versus the stated 176 hp/s regen....but I digress...).
2) Accelerate Metabolism: DPS is enhanced directly, Recovery is enhanced, Recharge is enhanced (enhancing DPS again).
[---]a) Hasten+AM is very easy to make perma.
3) Enervating Field: Reduces GM damage (to some extent...GMs tend to have a high resistance to the damage they deal so the effect isn't quite so dramatic). Multiplies total DPS.
4) Radiant Aura: For when a hit gets through.
5) Sonic Assault: Multiplies its own damage through stacking -RES debuffs.

Certain GMs aren't going to be as easy as others and it depends on which one you're trying to fight. It's not as though the set is "instant success, just add levels," it just happens to be one of the easiest to make work because of all the tools it has on hand.

Jock on his Rad/sonic soloed GMs, but I know he did it with Shivans. His recharge was good enough to get two Shivans out at the same time, and that was back in i9, IIRC. I can't recall if he did it without the Shivans. He did solo AVs straight up without pets, but said it was so annoying he prefers to never do it again. Jock played the build so much I'm rather positive he put a ton of influ into the build.

Hobo "soloed" Infernal on his Emp. Anybody who saw the video knows how much of the soloing Hobo's guy did. Even Hobo admitted the pets basically killed Infernal.

Rad/Son can solo GMs, apparently it's possible without pets, but it's pretty easy (depending on the GM) with just a single Shivan out at a time (and mostly there to tank, more than damage)

I know when my Rad/Son was in the high 20s/low 30s I was almost successfully soloing Eochai (who's one of the harder GMs) with just a single shivan, until a handful of Fir Bolg decided it was time to walk over to me and attack.

I've tried several GMs with my build, and still can't do so much as put a dent in them. Kraken, Adamastor, Lusca, Babbage... while lingering radiation is active I can chip away a tiny bit at their health (maybe get them down 300 or so from max), but the second it drops, their health goes back up to full again, and there's nothing I can do about it, since I don't have massive amounts of recharge in order to make it permanent.

Like I said, unless there's one specific build (like perma-AM/Hasten/LR) that can do it, I don't see it.

I consider myself a very good player. But I can't even begin to put a dent in a GM with my rad/sonic, who is fully IO'd out. I had built her specifically TO fight GMs, because I thought it would be fun, but if she's not capable of it, I may just scrap the character.

you don't need perma anything to make it work, you do, however, need hasten and AM up most of the time, my Rad/Son's planned build has LR perma, but it doesn't matter that much because I'm pretty darn solid in terms of out-damaging regen now, without 90% of my recharge bonuses slotted.

part of the deal has to do with not using shout, shout uses too much time, letting some of the stacked -res to wear off. Hasten + AM + SOs gives you them both up the vast majority of the time (I think Hasten is only down for about 15 seconds, and AM about 10) outside of that it's little things, like slotting the Achilles' heal proc in RI, and having Assault, both of those help quite a bit.

Yeah, I don't use shout when I'm trying to fight GMs. Just cycle shriek and scream. Maybe toss in electric fence if neither one is recharged just yet.

Even with LR on the mob, though, I barely make any headway at all. I just don't see it happening. If there's someone who has a "GM killer" build for a rad/sonic, I'd love to see it. Because right now, I have pretty much zero chance against them, despite everything I've tried.

Well, I dont haefv the library of GM defeats that Silverado has. though that is mostly due to a lack of patience, not failure of my build.

A few changes, due to mids not having pvp IOs in it. MoB is slotted with both 3% defense IOs, and I have the Panacea set minus the proc in Rad Aura.

Anyways, you asked.

Pardon the off topic question, but with my being a 5-year-playing noob of sorts (I've played this game on and off since '04, and have only racked up 24 months of veteran rewards), I have no idea what in the heck a shivan is... so I was wondering, after you're all done laughing at my 'n00b-ness' of course, if someone could enlighten me??
