I have never solo'd a GM, never tried, my experience is against the Praetorians, Arachnos, and Romulus (Cimerora). Yes, Pets are extremely valuable, you need to know which works against which AV's.
For example: Ghost Widow is weak against ranged attacks and drains melee attackers to give herself health....Shivans, Wolves, Clockwork, Imps, Flytraps, Jack Frost, Animated Stone, Dark Servant are all bad....Vanguard Mech, Longbow Mech, Illusions are good!

How do you keep an AV's regen permanently down with dark miasma? Besides the Twilight Grasp (which gives -50% regen for 20 seconds, has a 2.37 cast time, and if used to try to lower regen would cut into DPS quite a bit) you have Howling Twilight which has -500% regen for 30 seconds and a 180 second recharge. So how do you overcome the AV's regen?

The pet also has a Twilight Grasp that it uses along with a small amount of additional damage that it contributes. Tar Patch gives a nice chunk of -res that can be stacked with enough recharge. It's not that hard to eliminate regen, but it's not the only way to take out an AV.

Apparently you just summon 194123 pets.
I am a dark/dark defender, i am also known as AV KILLER, people call me to specifically kill AV's on Champion, i find them all easy except the RV ones.
Dark Defenders can still solo most AV's.
There are people wondering if i can solo Romulus 4 times in 60 seconds, and yes some people know how i do it!
If you know your opponents weakness it is not that hard.
