Experienced Defenders of */Psi?
well psi has -recharge as a debuff so cold/psi would be neat to stack -recharge but thematically it's ackward to make a story out of that.
Dark/Psi would be neat. then agian dark/anything is neat.
Go with what you feel sounds neat. Kinetic/Psi is what i would do.. because I'm a kinetic freak
Whining about everything since 2006.
Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

I've actually contemplated making a Storm/Psi, but then again I have 3 Storm characters over level 35...
My /Psi is Empathy, adds controls of a blaster set (like Dark Blast) and I generally like /Psi. Vel has it right, play what you find is neat.
If you are contemplating Storm, I can give you some helpful hints, since I'm currently in the process of writing up a general Storm Guide over the past few days.
50s: Bla- Arch/Mental Cont- Mind/FF, Earth/Cold, Ill/Therm, Earth/Rad Dominator- Plant/Psi, Elec/Earth Corr- Fire/Storm, Arch/Sonic, Rad/Kin, Beam/Sonic, Psi/Time Stalker- Elec/SR Def- Storm/Dark, Emp/Psi, Dark/Elec, FF/Arch, TA/Ice, TA/Elec, Kin/AR, Cold/DP, Traps/Psi Scrap- Fire/Shield Tanker- Dark/Mace, Ice/Kin Brute- Claws/WP, SS/Energy, BS/Elec
Dark/Psi is liked for its indirect synergy between perma-fear and high damage single target attacks, for safe soloing. And combining wide radius -tohit, -recharge, and uncommon damage type, for safe teaming.
I've done both dark/psi and storm/psi, they're both good.
I particularly like storm/psi.... freezing rain + tornado + psi scream has great ae potential.
I have a cold/psi who is rather fun.

I like Forcefields/Psy for the psychic scream/psi tornado/repulsion bomb trifecta. All AoE, two knockdowns, they hardly have a chance to fire back if their powers ever recharge.
Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
I've said it before, and I guess I'll repeat it here, storm/psy is awesome, but it left me feeling like I had one trick up my sleeve.
That being said /psy will be fun, psy is fun fun.

Another vote for FF/Psi. I like to hover above the battle using the AOE attacks. All the baddies are on their butts and I can still keep my teammates safely in dispersion bubble (aka The Mothership).
I have a 50 Kin/Psi, Festival, who is my most effective "force multiplier" character. She's an okay solo'er, but she can turn a team into an unstoppable killing machine. So much fun (even if the endless serial SB buffing gets really old after a while).

Yep. I love psi, and I like kin a lot, but the sb buffing really did me in on that set.
I'm biased. I love my Emp/Psi.
I don't ever feel like I can't get a team just because I am considered to be a

healer... by some. I actually get good time in to do my job and enjoy my secondary. A lot. Yeah, I'm biased. Empathy.

My emp/psi just hit 50 last night. He's gonna be even more combat-oriented than my emp/rad (several people in my SG laugh at me because I enjoy soloing my emp/rad on invincible... I'm looking forward to getting my emp/psi slotted up so he can be even better.)
/Psi was much more fun to level up than /Rad. Then again, I think it's more because now I know how to effectively fight as an emp defender (Regeneration Aura ftw!)
My Emp/Psi is my first and oldest toon and first 50, and I like them together a lot. Not only do I get to keep the team from dying, but throwing in an occasional Psychic Tornado is always entertaining... I never get tired of watching everybody fly up at the same time
Can't say much about soloing, though
Freedom Mains:
Sapphire Healer, Emp/Psych Def
Sapphire Blade, BS/Regen Scrap
Sapphire Gunner, AR/EM Blast
Izumi Reconstructed, Ice/Ice Corr
Operative Misaka, SoA
Arc #92364: The Shattered Sapphire
It hasn't been mentioned yet, but I enjoy my TA/Psi. I think she will soon become my third 50 next to my Bot/TA and MA/SR scrapper. Made her for a superteam so I can't say a whole lot of her soloing ability.
Mine was Emp/Psi back when Psi sucked...
I've got a Rad/Psi that's quite nice. Rad has some of everything, so it turns out that it has some -Recharge. Psi has a lot of -Recharge as well, in attacks you'd use ANYWAY, so you have the ability to prevent enemies from shooting back... well, not "Ever" but you can put them at the recharge floor. Not just "even-cons are at the recharge floor", but even +3s are only shooting back when you feel like letting them.
That's on top of the -damage, massive -ToHit, and every other painful thing Rad does to enemies.
Rad/Psi is somewhat more defensive than Rad/Sonic, I think. Not better or worse, just more defensive.
EDIT: You may think Psi sucks against robots. And it does. . . but the electromagnetic pulse doesn't.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
I'm curious about a primary that meshes well with the Psi Powerset, which I really truly like. I was considering either Ice/Psi Dark/Psi or Storm/Psi with an interest in both teaming and soloing. I'm truly curious from those of you experienced with the Psi set regarding the pros and cons of these sets would bring.
