whats the current FOTM pvp build? Came back to the game after 1 1/2 years and the new pvp nerfs are horrible.

What is best in pvp now? If now a blaster what class and build?

pvp is pretty much broken since i13.

If you play a melee toon for example, your best chain is Air Sup/Kick/Flurry, how clever is it ?

And that's just one example.

I wasnt a fan of i12 and before pvp, but now I'd like to see the old pvp back as it was 100x better than the current absurdity. Wont happen, the devs are too stubborn, and Positron said he likes the new pvp... (!!??)

You can have some fun with a Sonic/EM (res debuff doesnt have any DR i think + longer animations do more dmg, so it kicks [censored]). Dont count on Bone Smasher and even Total Focus to be good finishers, as I said previously the pool melee attacks deal much more dps in pvp now, pretty stupid. /EM will be good in your combo for Boost Range.

Take the fun there the time it lasts, for me it wasnt more than a few hours understanding how the new system works and how stupid it is.

I wish for them (not for us) that CO or DCUO dont come out with a good pvp system. Anyway stupid decisions that were made against the pvp community + stubborness to realize those mistakes must be paid one day or another.

Psi and fire have better DPS but Sonic does have better burst and is better on teams

I am hoping just the opposite, seeing as they will have to adopt the ideas from those games.

I don't PvP, I've been in Paragon since before we even had Pvp...

I toyed around with zone pvp when it launched and tried a few arena matches just for kicks, never really had the reflexes for it though. However...

If that statement is accurate and not just hyperbole I'm shocked. It's no wonder the pvp community is so upset if thats the case. Please tell me your exaggerating!

PvP is sadly, one of the pillars of the MMO business. If a MMO doesnt have some form of competition between players (and the most visible and most viable form of this is PvP), there wouldnt be a true challenge for the player, and thus no point in playing more.

There's a reason why Warhammer Online, WoW, EVE Online, and a dozen other MMO's suceed in their PvP gaming. They keep it as balanced, as fixed, and as fun as possible.

Whilst true, there are people who are strongly against PvP, there are far more who live in he "gray zone" between no PvP and all PvP, people who play what they want, when they want it, and expect a fun time, win or lose.

I'm not even an MMO dev and even I can see there's things wrong with the PvP mechanics and how it "feels" on the end-user currently.

yes. clearly pvp is why the first everquest surpassed ultima online.

pvp isnt what made WoW successful, and those who say mmorpg's should all have pvp i notice rather conveniently refuse to play a game like eve online

psi/dev is pretty badass in PvP now. /devices is a great secondary for PvP and psi has always been fairly decent in PvP. as a PvE toon...not so much.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Hmm, sorry but I just have to say something. If you're implying that Eve is the definition of "hardcore sandbox pvp", that is simply incorrect. In a game where your skills are directly measured by the amount of time you've been subscribed, even offline most of the time, good luck trying to get into PvP if you're a newcomer vs people who have been playing for years, and I'm not talking about skill as a player either. Eve's PvP is a joke for this reason. And as far as WoW goes, yes PvP is not its main attraction, but it has always been a secondary draw for the game; if their PvP was simply absolute garbage like it is in this game, I bet they would lose a noticeable amount of subscribers. That's not to say that WoW's PvP is good, because it isn't, but most of the people playing it aren't aware of that and think it's the best PvP ever simply because it's their first MMO and they haven't tasted PvP from any real hardcore games like Shadowbane and such.

Blasters with /Dev are very good, if you build them carefully. Ar is at the bottom of the pile unfortunately. Fire and sonic hurt like hell. Energy has scary. range and fast recharge.

The exact build you use depend son which zone you intend to pvp in most often.

All attacks in PvP have been normalized based on animation length. Since Flurry takes so long to animate it does a proportionally large amount of damage. Technically all attacks do similar DPA but since PvP has so much jousting it is harder to take advantage of lots of shorter attacks. Long activation hard hitting attacks are good to deliver as you joust other players.

So I do some PvPing, but since when did /Dev rise from useless in PvP to mentioned with /EM? Is it the extra defense to help you cap and the Stealth?

I'd say /Dev is really only for zones. But webnade + suppression when you hit a target makes for some really easy kills.

Targeting Drone provides a nice constant to hit buff that while isn't huge is small enough that it doesn't get DR'ed too much.

Caltrops - Nice to have, gives you some breathing room from stalker AS and auto crits from hide. Helps with MM's some.

Cloaking device + Stealth IO means you'll get the jump on some builds. A little advantage is still an advantage.

Trip Mines are funny when someone walks over them, most stalkers can't resist a blaster standing still for even a second.

I'd say the perma -jump you can keep on someone with webnade really adds up the potential for kills as well as getting away from someone if need be.

Trip Mines in the water in Siren's Call are fun.

Due to the changes in how mez works Web Grenade is actually the most useful immob power available to blasters. It has a -fly component to bring flyers to the ground, and if you are fighting a melee toon with no ranged attacks they become nothing but target practice if your webnades hit consistently.

My Sonic/Devices, the way he is currently slotted, can hit an SR without using Amplify or yellows first. I'd say he has a 60% accuracy rate. Targeting Drone is nice.

Cloaking Device, as stated, combined with a Stealth IO can get the jump on the rare build with no perception.

Gun Drone is nice in duels, but fairly useless in zones, I still have it and use it though, if it happens to target the same thing as me it will add decent damage. Note: If it is defeated or times out in mid-combat I don't resummon it.

Basically with the changes they made to how PvP works a lot of the tools in Devices got a LOT more useful than they used to be.

Speaking as one who has PvPed with a Sonic/Devices since they were laughed at in zones.

Boxing + Kick will do more damage than flurry for less activation time and a quicker recharge. Does cost a tiny bit more endurance. Just something to think about....
