Best power combo for soloing the Positron TF?

Simple question:

What do you think is the best archetype/powerset choice, and slotting, to most efficiently solo the Positron TF?

I think it might actually be a more endurable, and less painful experience than doing it as a group. I remember once doing it with just a friend, and it wasn't too bad. But when I tried it with an eight man, it was Hell on Earth.

I've done it with everything from a duo up to 8 people, the duo was the most painful, simply because of our powerset combinations (a D3 and a BS/Regen don't fair well against CoT in terms of damage) my fastest time on the TF (2:11) was actually on a 6 or 7 man team.

That being said, I think your best bet for soloing it is going to be something along the lines of a Rad/Son defender, decent damage, good debuffs, and a way to enhance your recovery.

I think you underestimate our fools, sir.

Rad/sons are nice, and verge on overpowered, but I'm not sure they can handle things that well by level 15?

I'd give a slot to a Plant/FF and the other to some kind of /Regen scrapper

My vote goes to AoE heavy blasters. Endurance and survivability are gonna be issues for most builds at that level. Might as well overwhelm them with damage.

Arch/MM would work well for this. Fistful of Arrows, Explosive Arrow, and Psychic Scream are all available for the TF. Psychic Scream is especially for the clockwork missions.

The "safest" would be a Mind controller with Illusion being next.

Not sure what the most "efficient" (fastest) soloer would be. Illusion can stealth a lot of the missions which speeds things up *a lot* but it doesn't kill particularly fast.

Edit: I forgot to add that for Controllers, Rad would be the best secondary for this purpose since you get RI and other goodies early on.

I've been wondering this too. I've got the following characters:

Account A:
Elec/Energy Blaster
Warshade
WP/SS Tank

Account B:
Empath/Psi Defender
Claws/Regen Scrapper
Illusion/FF Controller

I'm leaning towards the Empath and Blaster for duoing Positron - Energy and Psi Damage work well vs CoT and Clockwork.

Anyone with experience of this TF suggest another combination?

Well the things that I have done that work best....

1) Slows are good. Especially AoE slows.
2) Psi damage is good for the clockwork missions.
3) Toxic resistance is good for the Vahz missions.
4) Control is good for the CoT missions.
5) Extra recovery and recharge are good.

1) Ice/ blaster or /Ice defender works well here.
2) /MM is perfect here. So is a /Psi defender
3) FF/* defender or */FF controller is best here since Deflection Shield grants 40% resistance to toxic damage. Dark armor melee is good here too either a Dark/* tank or */Dark Scrapper.
4) Any controller here is good but a control set the matures quickly is best. Plant comes to mind.
5) The only way to get both of these in one package is a Kin/* defender.

Tha fastest time I ever ran a posi was on a 4 man (1:58) that consisted of a Plant/TA controller, an Ice/MM blaster, a Dark/Fire Tank, and a Kin/Ice defender.

All four players had the TP to mission door power and the vet recall team power. The Plant/TA had a Stealth IO, Super Speed and recall friend.

Edit - If I were going to solo it with the stuff in my stable. I'd be using my Sonic/Ice blaster or my Plant/TA.

Blasters do seem to be the way to go. At level 15 you don't really have a lot of extra survivability on a Scrapper, so the Blaster's higher AoE damage will be more useful. Tankers can have mez protection by level 15, but their damage is too low to solo it fast. An Archery / Mental or Fire / Mental Blaster would be able to take out spawns fast and /Mental would be especially handy against the Clockwork.

Illusions sucks that early yea it is safe but without phantom army it is just mind numbing bang your head against the wall slow

I done it solo with an ill/rad the most fun is my fire/mm fire ball + phych scream and fire breath when you can kills a lot of stuff

Claws/Regen scrapper might be a go. QR and a decent, early developing attack chain. Never tried it though.

Claws/regen certainly makes good time on Posi.

Any damage oriented character does well enough.

Fire/MM blaster and Kin/Son defender.

With purples this combo does it in 1 hour. Without purples but with solid builds well slotted for exemplaring, maybe 1:15-1:30.

Er... set up to ghost missions, pick a random scrapper, win?

Ed: Prolly a bit too tongue in cheek, but I doubt most of my scrappers would have difficulty dealing with a 4man posi.

Claws/Regen + Plant/FF

Claws has pretty decent AoE by that point, and Regen has Quick Recovery to keep the pace up.
Plant has Seeds, which is up every fight even at DO levels, and FF gives the scrapper a HUGE boost to survivability.

I'd guess Archery/Mental blasters do well. Lethal damage shreds through Abominations, Blazing and Subdual interrupt Mortificator rez and Enbalmed and Mage kamikazes, psi damage deals with clocks and spectrals, Aim helps you spike stuff, and you have Fistful/Scream for AoE. No Build Up, but only /Energy has Build Up for Positron anyway.

Too bad that's a duo, not solo.

If I was going to go with a duo, I'd use a Fire/Energy Blaster and a Kinetics Defender. A Speed Boosted Fire Blaster would shred most spawns, and /Energy would give Build Up. Add in Transfusion and Siphon Power and the Kin wouldn't even need to use any blasts... which means it would be a nice setup for dual boxing.

For true solo, I'd prefer Archery/Mental though. It has a better low-level attack chain without recharge boosts. Especially if you're using a real level 15... Fire might be better with a purpled out 50.

I highly recommend a Plant/Rad controller for soloing it, most of your damage will come from Seeds since you don't care about XPs (watching how quickly confused Vahz rip themselves apart shows you why they are nasty low level opponents). Ideally high level so you can carry a large insp load to deal with mezzers and such.

I think a Warshade or PB could also do a decent job of it in Nova form, though you lose a lot of your good tools that low its hard to beat the AoE damage output of a Nova at that level, and remember they can't mezz you out of the air any more. I had to solo about half of it one time on my WS when we had to break for Maintenance and most of the team was slow coming back, very doable with insps and a solid IO build.

On the more off topic subject of duoing it, my fire/fire tank and a friends fire/rad controller blew through it pretty fast even at natural level. Just enough protection to survive long enough to deal the damage needed to make it fast.

IMO not needed.

Blasters do extremely well on Posis. I think the best time I did was 1:07 when I was on my fire/em blaster teamed with my friend's cold/sonic defender. My blaster wasn't really built for that low lvl, and my friend's cold fender is built for PvP.

I think if we really wanted to butcher that TF we could make a kin/sonic defender combine it with a nrg or archery/em or psy blaster. Nrg and archery blasting gets its tier 3 blast early (at lvl 6), which makes for a great boost in dmg, KB is also nice at that lvl for surviving. /Psy for killing clocks, /Em for BU and the 2 nice ST punches. The kin defender would have SB at that lvl to keep blaster's end and recharge up, along with trans heals, and some dmg and res debuffs.

I can't really see anything that would work better than a kin+blaster for a posi.

I ended up using my Empath/Psi and Elec/NRG blaster and it worked a treat! 1 hour 7, I think it took.

But man, it felt so much longer! I've done Posi now, dont think I'll be back in a hurry!

A few people I know dual-box Positron to get lots of merits (they do about an hour a run, worth 64 merits per account - so they come out pretty well). I believe they use a Fire/Mental Blaster and Plant/Rad Controller.

Fire/Mental and Plant/Rad? They must be awfully good at dual boxing then, because those are both pretty active sets. I'd go with Fire/Mental or Archery/Mental and a Kinetics Defender SB-bot myself... put the Defender on autofollow with Transfusion on autoattack and tap Speed Boost every time it runs out and you're good to go.

Hmmm... I already have a suitable Archery/Mental, and getting a Kin up to level 15 wouldn't take long... I may try that.
