Lower the requirements forTask Forces
1) I find your assertion that "almost nobody engages in Task Forces anymore" to be grossly incorrect.
2) Allowing the TFs to scale down to smaller group sizes somewhat defeats the purpose of the TFs as team content. This combined with the fact that people are already doing them on small teams without it scaling down and reaping larger rewards for successfully doing so in terms of xp and inf tells me that this change would in essence be a nerf in many respects.
3) There's nothing preventing story-minded folks from engaging in a TF at their leisure since you can start and stop TFs at any point in the chain of missions thanks to TF Mode. Unless you're attempting to do a TF with everyone at the bottom of the range, there's really no reason a team should be reasonably unable to complete the TF. Might be a little harder, take a little longer, but doable, especially for players who are more interested in content than advancement.
Overall, no to this. The solution causes problems and the 'problem' is dubious.

I see you replied here as well, as I mentioned...
Just because your do Task Forces does not mean other people on other servers do.
Your little Task Force group is probably exclusive (badge farming?) so other people cannot get in.
On most servers it seems that almost nobody is doing Task Forces.
There are few people who are Story and Content minded around these days; at least people who PUG.
Just because you don't need it does not mean it is not a good idea.
Think about all the other "Story minded" players who never get to get into a Task Force at low levels since they cannot find other people who are on when they are who want to do them.
Really?
Have you joined your servers TF/Badging/Teaming global channels? Because I see those channels putting together TFs all the time.
Or checked your server forum below to see who is putting together stuff there? I know that at least on infinity there are regular Saturday TF groups that are open to any comers who sign up on the forum - although they are sponsored by a particular SG, anyone is welcome. And if there are spot open at start time, any bystanders are also welcome.
So I have to support Justaris that you are starting from a bit of a flawed premise.
BTW. just because people are doing a TF "for a badge" doesn't mean that they are not interested in story.

How many new players or even old player know about these channels you refer to?
Are they publicized somewhere in the game?
Most good players never access the Forums so information here is not found by them.
They only find a Task Force when they or someone else advertises for it. It seems that usually these efforts end in frustration and no Task Force because everyone wants to farm the AE.
This request is for the honest, good players who want to experience content and the Task Force story but cannot get a group together or never finds a group forming.
Your distention and comments are welcome though the actual decisions need to be made by the developers who I ask to examine the situtaion on all servers and see if many low level Task Forces are being successfully completed. But also look at who is doing them, if it is the same group of people, they should only count as once, since they are farming the TF and not really doing the TF for content.

Congrats!
Now if only more than just you did so your second statement would be valid itself.
I will quit arguing with you. I made this post to make a suggestion, you disagree.
Your statement about validity oversteps your boundry of disagreement. Instead you make yourself out to have authority which you do not have. This in effect makes your response worthless.
Please keep within your authority and state you disagree, but do not try to invalidate my argument with your worthless trite.
Thank you.
I guess we will just agree to disagree...
The simple fact is TF teams are still going on. You just need to use the tools available to you. Ad_Astra gave some suggestions. If you choose not to use them, that is your problem.
And just so you know, though the devs do peek into this forum from time to time, it is the players and their approval or disapproval of your suggestion that will either keep your thread alive for them to see or shoot it down in flames.
You have to convince the players that there really is a problem before the devs will even look at it. So, these posters whom you are disparaging actually have more authority than you might think.
Yes, new players may not know about the badge and TF channels, but really all they have to do is ask and someone will tell them in game. Last night someone asked how to get to the Tailor in Steel Canyon. Before I could answer five other players gave him directions and one guy offered him a TP, and that was on the Guardian server.

FOOLS! HE CAN NOT BE BOTHERED TO CHECK THE SERVER FORUMS! And even if he did look do you know what he would find? Nothing! There are no threads looking for tf members on Champion.
Nor are they on victory
Definately not on triumph.
Also not protector.
Pinnacle? as if!
Liberty..... not!
Justice has got nothing.
Neither does Infinty.
And Guardian? Absolutely nothing.
And even if threads did exist on the server forums that proved that one could create a thread to get members or join an existing one you know what still wouldn't exist? Multiple global channels for each server (lets say Victory Badges, Victory Badges 2009, Victory Task forces, etc) which deal with getting groups to do content and being social with others. They don't exist. At all. You are stupid if you think it does.
I think I have made my point.
you win
I believe the phrase, in the vernacular, is "pwned".

What? Only four on Victory? I'm gonna have to run a TF when I get home from work, just to get those slackers up to speed. I need LRSF on my current brute project. Maybe I'll try to set one of those up for the weekend.
Not for Sunday though. It'll be too hard to find a TF team during the Ship Raid.
People need to get out of the MA though. It's silly only being able to turn down 2-3 TF invites a day, I should be getting more than that.

I put forward a similar suggestion, for solo friendly TFs, a couple of days ago here

reestablishment of scaling to group size be reimplemented into Task Forces.
[/ QUOTE ]Uh... TFs do scale to group size, and always have. The current setup is that members of the TF who are offline but not quit from the TF still count towards team size, but people who actually quit the TF don't count any more.

I just did two ITFs in a row. If I wanted, I could get any TF going that I wanted.
What do you mean TFs are dead?
And the second one I formed during the server's hami raid.
If you don't find one being made, make it yourself.
Badge channels, broadcast, find members, look for those not on a team (name not greyed out) and ask them if they want to join.

When I read the first post, I think the whole post can go through without the first sentence in the "why" section. Unfortunately, the replies are mostly focused on that sentence.
I think the request is understandable. In fact, the suggestion pops up quite frequently. There is a thread recently asking to make tf solo-friendly. I think the suggestions are ok. There are already quite a lot of content for solo players. It's up to the dev how they want to balance between solo and team.
That's weird. No one's doing task forces anymore? Then who the hell are all these people sending me tells asking if I want to run them?!
They clearly don't know that no one wants to run TFs anymore so they're wasting their time trying to put them together. Imagine that. 12-15 people a night putting together random Task Forces with no clue that they should be farming AE instead.
It's very sad.
As far as solo friendly task forces go: The hell? A one person TASK FORCE?
"Hey, Sanderson, you're the Gang Task Force tonight."
"You got it, Sarge, I'll show those gangbangers whose boss."
A Task Force is BY DEFINITION a group event.
Solo-friendly Task Force is an oxymoron.

I supported you there and I will support you here. I would LOVE it if TFs scaled with team size, all the way down to solo, and I am prepared to forfeit all TF rewards in exchange. There are times to team and times to go solo, and I don't believe this should be dictated by content, but rather by player desire (and task reward).

Qr - I gave long been in favour of reducing TF minimum starting reqs. If every TF could be started by two players, it would allow those of us who for whatever reason have difficulty grouping to experience as much of the TFs as we could handle. I personally wouldn't be wanting to solo any TFS - I duo them with my SG-mate (if they are duoable that is). Scaling them down would be a bonus, but as the system stands at present, since a TF can be continued with just the 2 active members, it seems inconsistent to force a minimum starting number that's higher than that.

The Audition, Arc ID 221240 (6 mish, complex mech, comedy)
Storming Citadel, Arc ID 379488 (lowbie, 1mish, 10-min timed)
First off I want to apologize.
I just did a Positron and my conceptions were misconceptions.
I thought that the Devs locked the Task Forces to a set value of 8 players, but whet I found out (in a different thread of mine) is that the Devs locked the number of players in the Task Force regardless of if they are in the game or not.
So my request is null and void since that is really all I wanted them to do was to allow the Task Force to scale to the number of players.
I would like to apologize to everyone that I made snide remarks to and to whom I replied in not so nice fashion too.
I would especially like to thank Angel_Red for sharing with me that some of my responses could be considered baiting and maybe even trolling.
On thing I noticed is that most of the channels I tried to join for Task Forces were full, I did not realize a chat channel could get full.
I think Snowlace got what I was really trying to point out about (non-forum) players finding groups but it is true that 98% of the time what is seen in Broadcast is "AE Farm Team LFM; 45+ only" which can cause discouragement to new and even veteran players who want to see other content.
I mentioned that I did a Positron, what I did not mention was that we did it with 5 people. I expected it to be a wipefest; but I went anyways....
Imagine my surprise when 2 Defenders (a Emp and a Kin) and 3 Blasters completed the Positron in about 4.5 hours.
To add to this shock one of the Defenders and 2 of the Blasters were below level 13.
So again I am sorry, I caused some hate and discontent, though some good information was bestowed; it was largely my misconception that caused me to misunderstand how the TF works.
So now I feel there is no reason to lower the requirements for Task Forces unless someone wants to Solo it, which I feel would be their choice so I will support that idea.
Its cool. You atleast apologized and understood the other posters in the end.... which is kind of a rarity for an OP round here.....
The cool thing is it might have gone faster with two less blasters and two more defenders.
I'M RICK JAMES!!
I would like to ask that the requirements for Task Forces be lowered and that reestablishment of scaling to group size be reimplemented into Task Forces.
WHY:
With the advent of the AE almost nobody engages in Task Forces anymore, this is especially true of low level Task Forces.
By allowing smaller groups and scaling the encounters to group size this will help make forming and finishing Task Forces a bit more likely since the number of people is easier to find.
Merit scaling should also be implemented to balance Merit Rewards with the challenge.
WHO:
There are a few players who play the game for content and story rather than XP and levels. For us the ability to find a few like minded people to engage in a Task Force would be nice, to have the Task Force scale according to our Challenge rating rather than being set to max all the time would make completing a Task Force reasonable.
I personally do not care about farming, the people who farm are not the people who enjoy content so they will also not be the people who would join a Task Force at lower levels except to get a badge.
This is a request for players who value story and content.
