Regarding the Rumors of my Departure

I think it's a shame the community, not just Justice, but the boards and game in general, is losing you. I understand and respect your decision, it just saddens me you had to make it. As others have said, you've exemplified the best the game has to offer. I know it's the nature of the these games for people to come and to go, but lately I feel the best have been leaving and I think the community is poorer for it.

I'll see you in RL and we can have a good cry over it all. I'll even bring a coffee drink thingy.

Manoa,
It is with sincere wishes that you remain among us here on the game.

You have always been very active within the game and within the forums. It is understandable that the current market may cause you to withdraw for a bit, but I do hope that you end up staying.

A wish from all of us would be that you decide to stay, and if I might add, those that are leaving change their minds and decide to stick it out.

Doing so if for no other reason than to tell those that make decisions.. You will not go quietly into the night!

As you said, too many heartbreaking choices are going on right now.

[/ QUOTE ]

We've been chatting about this for a couple days and yeah, I really do feel heartbroken over having to cut out the things I love, even if it's temporary. Most people don't know this yet except for a very small handful of people, but just to put things into perspective on how scared I am for the future...I have also taken a break from hula until the economy improves and things get better at work. As difficult as it was to cancel my annual subscription for COH, dropping from hula is probably the most emotional and difficult decision decision I've had to make in quite awhile. Loosing COH *and* hula...it all honestly feels like I'm cutting out family.

For those I have as friends on Facebook, please, please, *please* don't mention this on my profile yet! I sent an e-mail to my instructor (I've been a bit too emotional to carry on a telephone conversation) and have not received confirmation that she has received my e-mail about it. I have her and a lot of my hula sisters as Facebook friends and I want to ensure my instructor doesn't hear about it second or third hand before receiving my e-mail. That would be very poor hula protocol and I want to avoid that at all costs.

I blew it off as a whim a few weeks ago, but all of a sudden, the "loss of community" ideal has my attention.

[/ QUOTE ]

Remember, just because certain members of the community are taking their leave, it doesn't mean we're loosing our community...just that the community is changing. Community is what you make of it, so keep Justice the awesomest, craziest ever. If for no other reason than to keep the hearth warm for those of us who intend to eventually return.

I'll always pause for a hug!

You have the rare ability to be sunny and cheerful without being "cutesy" about it, I've always enjoyed and appreciated that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sunny and cheerful? I guess my Facebook personality quiz hit the nail on the head after all. It's really great to have you back Liv, even if I wasn't here very long during your return. I've always seen you as one of the Justice community's greatest assets and hope you will keep in touch.

P.S. I don't really hate you guys.

I only lash out because I'm hurting inside.

Also, if you do meet up with a bunch of people again, make sure you call my cell phone. That was hilarious talking to everyone last time.

[/ QUOTE ]

No worries LJ, I know that "I hate you guys" means "I love you guys and I'll miss you" in LJ speak. If there is ever another get-together and I'm in attendance, it'd be pretty awesome to be able to chat with you again. Just be sure to pass along your digit to someone who's attending if Missy's not going to be there...she's the keeper of your telephone number.

For everyone else whom I haven't directly replied to, thank you so much for your lovely sentiments! I really am crossing my fingers things at work will improve very soon so I can stick around (or at the very least, make my absence as short)!

Manoa, sorry to hear that you might be leaving because of financial reason.

I am crossing my fingers that the economy will pick up and you can stay.

Maybe we can do a meet and greet at Murder Burger in Davis one of these weekend?

There's a new burger joint in Davis, Burgers and Brews, which is heads and shoulders above Murder Burger, both in food quality and service. It has more space, too, and is right next to the community park for a large "Meet the Manoa" crowd.

It's kinda funny...TA, Sassy and I were contemplating doing a MB run really soon (there was some talk about maybe even this weekend, but nothing set in stone yet).

Several, actually. There's "City of Heroes -Justice" as well as "Justice For All." Lots of other COH related groups too, but those are the two that I joined.

Now I definitely need to drive out to Davis. Murder Burger was always one of my favorite spots to stop when I was younger, although it has been far too many years since I've been out that way. /threadjack

Manoa, I wish you the best in wherever your life takes you. In my time here with the community I've grown to enjoy every post preceded by your silhouetted hula dancing avatar and you will be sorely missed.

The economy is indeed in a rough spot right now for many people and I hope that things smooth out for you and return to a place where you don't feel the need to temporarily refrain from doing what you love.

If you do decide you must go, we'll try and keep the forums warm (but not too warm ) for your much hoped for return.

Mod08...I have to admit that I had a mild panic seeing your name as the most recent post this thread. Then I saw that there was no thread lock and the panic subsided.

Thanks for the warm thoughts (dangit, I'm getting all teary eyed again, thanks Mod08!). Know that if there's ever a Justice gathering in Davis (whether its Murder Burger, Burgers and Brews or whatevah), know that you and any other rednames that can make the journey are always more than welcome to join us.

Should I end up having to leave, I fully expect you, Niv and Avatea to prevent things from getting too flamey hot here on the forums so it's nice and toasty when I return!

But who will keep me from lurking by luring me out with a bag of cheesypoofs if you leave?

You know, people may hate you for being the one primarily responsible for drawing me out and getting me posting on the forums, but I love you for it, and wish you nothing but the best. I can only hope that all this talk of leaving is premature, and the economy turns around enough for the sun to shine on your hula gyrations again! It's been my pleasure to not only get to know you here on the forums, but in person as well, and I can honestly say that you and Somber are two of the most amazing people I've met...makes me wish you were here in Kentucky so you two could go karaoke with us every week (and remember, if things get too rough, Kentucky has the lowest cost of living in the US)!

Anyway...you have my number...if there's anything I can do for you, give me a call! I'd be happy to do whatever I can!

Anyway, regardless of who does or does not get your stuff, best wishes for the future, Manoa.

Bye... you'll be missed. You have the rare ability to be sunny and cheerful without being "cutesy" about it, I've always enjoyed and appreciated that.

[/ QUOTE ]See to me this was a whining thread. I get why people are saying good bye. And I ma sure this person will be missed (not by me, but whatever). I have no interest in real life reasons why you might leave, as writing them will in no way help the devs see their mistakes.
I am much more interested in having the standard whiny posts so that it may help anyone who is staying.

Just my 2 cents.....really more for Judas than anyone.

Posted

I'm completely uninterested in whining, "I'm leaving!!!!!!" posts, as those just make me want to shove an iron bar down that person's throat. I do, however, have all the time in the world for a person writing their good-byes based on reasons outside the game.

I like a lot of the people I've gamed with, and I have taken an interest in them. We all know you only think of people as pixels; matter of fact, you've become a running joke in a number of forums for your views, but that's neither here nor there.

So what you are saying is........I am popular?

Yay!

I simply can't handle to many people expecting me to know who they are just cause I teamed with them for 30 min or argued with them in a forum. I try my best to always be polite and help out in game. But I don't like that it has become expected that I consider anyone I communicate with in a friendly manner to be my friend.

That is just not how I work. I have made a very few friends over the course of 5 years of playing, but even then I expect them to know that my real life overrules anything that happens in game.

You can make fun of that if you want to, but then there are millions of people who think making internet friends is retarded, so I am only a minority here.

having said all that I met my wife on lavalife....

Posted

I'm making fun of you because you have SPECIFICALLY said that the people on the forums, and in-game, are nothing more than pixels to you.

No one expects you to call people a friend, nor do they expect you to know the, but people DO expect you to not mock them for forming friendships with the same people. Everyone pretty much knows how you work, Markus. I'm not even sure why you think anyone expects anything of you.

We all know you've made very few friends over the course of your five years, but that's because of your attitude towards the people you play with, not any other reason.

Also, no one expects their life to overrule yours, and I'm at a complete loss to even comprehend where you even got that notion.

As for people thinking it's 'retarded'? Who gives a [censored] what they think? They probably also think that smoking is good for you and that the Internet is a series of tubes. In other words, they have no sense of reality and the basic functions of societal change.
