What do you do at end-game in CoX?
If you are not enjoying the game. Then leave.
I am all for keeping subscribers and stuff, but a post like that makes little to no sense whatsoever...
"This is my highest level toon" Ok, what toon is that? I have no idea... Do you only have 1 toon? Did you not bother to play a bunch of different characters and powersets just to see what they are like?
I just don't understand the point you are trying to make.
What do I do at the end of the game? There is NO END... If there was I suppose I would cancel my subscription.
Real Consequences are for REAL LIFE.
In a game... I play for fun, where there is NO responsibility and there is NO consequences to anything you do. Because its all FAKE. There is nothing life threatening inside this game world. Not even in "WOW".
I'm pretty sure when your account runs out of paid time you've reached the end game.

It's really weird to me that a dozen people have posted tons of things you can do after you hit 50, some of which are pretty time-consuming, rewarding, and epic, and you just keep sighing and saying "It sucks there's no end-game."
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

[/ QUOTE ]Of course you can choose to continue, but it's not mandatory. So, what MMO's allow each player to reshape the game world?
i know some actually have kingdoms that can rise and fall while controlled by players, but that's something that only the few players who have the charisma and/or obsessiveness to rise to the position of King/Queen can aspire to become, and 99.999% of the playerbase still has no significant effect on the entire world. The whole game is an epic battle between good and evil if you take the time to look at it. The whole game is "end game" in the traditional sense.
What, exactly, do you expect to see?

I'm guessing something like "storm the castle and the actual borders on the world map change! then someone else storms it and the borders change again! doesn't this feel like the world is dynamic and your actions have meaning? ...no? well, was worth a try".
OP, try Recluse's Victory. The whole zone changes according to who's winning! Capture a pillbox as a hero, and there's a statue of Atlas! Capture it as a villain, and it's a statue of Lord Recluse! Sure, not many people *play* there, but you'll feel like you're that much more important.

So... Wintergrasp?
We have the next best thing, though - storming castles (including the Storm Palace) and defeating massively big, massively strong enemies. Or... Not storming castles and defeating human-sized, massively strong enemies by ourselves. I just took out both Neuron and Anti-Matter in the same mission single-handedly.

So form up a group of players who agree that when they ding level 50, they go to a PvP zone and fight until they're defeated. When they are, delete the character, since that character is now either dead, arrested, or captured and thus will never do anything again.
Pretty epic, and it hardly gets more real than that!
As others have mentioned, this game isn't something to "win." It really is about the journey. If that's a problem, then I hate to say it, but every MMORPG out there has some kind of level cap, and it sounds like your problem isn't so much with City of Heroes as it is with the genre.
Good luck, and I'm not being facetious, in finding a game you like better.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

Very nicely said. i agree completely. Single player and non-massively multiplayer/locally hosted non-persistent games allow the sort of world-changing effects of actions that are not viable in MMO's. It's a limitation of the genre.

True. I wonder if any MMO has the kind of "end game" that Rusty is looking for. I doubt it.
[ QUOTE ]
so there is no end-game, is that what I'm hearing.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no need for an end-game. What does "end-game" mean, anyway? In COH/COV there's lots you can do at 50 even if you're not advancing; if you don't want to do it, you can roll an alt; alts play much more differently than the classes in most games, so there's more variety to replying on an alt, and more content than one character can do anyway.
Ultimately it's like chess, baseball, football, charades, or any other game -- play it for fun if you like doing so.

I once played a game of chess. Once checkmate happened (I think my opponent won, as I recall), I thought, "Is this it? No more endgame content?"
Chess sucks, I don't think I'll play it any more.

That's the same conclusion I landed on.
I've been here for 5-ish years, I have a rotating cast of 20-odd characters 'in play' at any time, from level 1 to level 50.
My "end game" is playing whoever strikes my fancy when I log in, doing whatever looks like fun.

badging, itf, stf/lrsf, running lower level task forces with much higher powerlevels than the people who are naturally that level, recluses victory, mothership runs, exemping and getting total newbies into the game(nothing like running exemped to 4 or 5 but with purples), making fun of camo on lbx, and now ae stuff.

Is there no epic battle between the heroes and the villains?
[/ QUOTE ]
There is very limited end-game, but it is about 10x more than a few issues ago. 50's aren't dead in the water anymore like they used to be, which imo is attributed almost entirely to them adding gear to the game rather than the limited raiding/end game instances that exist.
There is cheezy epic battles between heroes and villains. If you mean player vs player they made the system very undesirable and unfun in i13. The rebalanced for epic battle between hero and villain rather than heroeS and villainS. Sadly the rebalanced failed anyway lol. Unless you are hellbent on making pvp work for you I'd just avoid it. (I used to pvp about 90% of my time in this game).
There is some limited pve epic battles between heroes and villains found in the late game TFs. I say they are cheezy because they are usually extremely easy to the point where most random pugs can successfully complete them.
There are a couple end game raids like hami and mother ship. Hami isn't very popular though, or particularly fun and enthralling. Mother ship is pretty neat.

Statesman Task Force
Shadow Shard Task Forces
Recluse's Victory PVP, or any PVP
Hamidon Raid
Rikti Ship Raid
Lady Grey Task Force
Imperious Task Force
(upcoming) Anniversary Task Force and Strike Force
Ourboros Task Forces, especially Mender Silos
