Can I get the winning lottery numbers while you're predicting the future, please?

Why do I keep forgetting that other people can predict the future and read peoples minds
Well looks like from the damage table that the game works per design.
Damege high
Hit points medium
"The Scapper is a fierce melle combatant, in had to hand, NO OTHER HERO can compare. But the scrapper is not as resilient as the tanker, and might find himself in a little trouble if he heedlessly wades into combat. The scrapper aptitude for melee is counter by a total lack of long distance attacks. Scappers posses critical strike capabilities. Their melee attak have a chance to sometimes do double damage"
Brutes
Damage=High
Hit points= High
" Brute lives to fight, an as a brute you revel is hand to hand combat. With strong offensive power sets to inflict pain and impressive defense to take it, youre THE BEST THERE IS IN A STRAIGHT OUT FIGHT. Protracted battles only make you mad, and the madder you get, the more damaging you attack become. You do lack ranged attacks, in which culd have you vulnerable to hit and run tactics without allies to cover you."
Both description are pretty similiar but clearly the damage table posted above is by design.

Well, thanks for clearing that up so that we can stop wasting time on number crunching and debates about balance and discussion of what this might mean when Going Rogue goes live. I can't imagine how the rest of us simply missed the fact that brutes are just SUPPOSED to be better. That should take care of everyone's concerns. You're right. No more need be said.[/cranky]

Lol man dont let me yank your chain to hard man. Truth is it is the same old class jockeying that has been going for ages. Each side wants a little be more of everything and anything prior to the kind of merge that is going to happen. Truth is brutes and scrappers are really very close in damage despite the table. Brutes may have a edge over scrapper in PvE and scrappers may have a bit of edge in PvP. Fury is nice against alot of mobs but not so good in PvP and Crits and higher damage base great for PvP. Scrappers are bit more of brust damage with the crits. Brutes its a building up damage and if they get the chance to build it up then the dsp is great. And well if you look at the top chains they all include Gloom which is a dot. With Minions and Luits you dont see the full damage off that. Might want to run a replacement and stick Mu lightning in and see how that pans out.
finally dont pay any attention to the Doomsayers. They are never right. It never works out how they predict. They are just like the many politicains trying to scare you into beleive what they want you to.
Sorry, just been cranky recently. I shouldn't be taking it out on you specifically. It looks like we pretty much agree overall. Brutes debatably have the PvE edge overall, and very likely do for my play style, but it doesn't seem huge and overwhelming. I suspect I won't get a good feel for it until I'm playing them back to back against the same enemies on the same side since average fury is hard to nail down and hides important details of how it changes through a mission (such as generally being cranked up when you hit the final boss, unless you're on a team that wants to prepare by chatting and buffing and having you lose it all before you attack).

so, ummm... anyone know why these two threads go stickied? I'm not griping... just curious.

What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

I'm reasonably sure because a number of people asked for the both of the threads to be stickied because it's actually a rather good comparison of the single target damage capabilities of the various damage sets. If people are willing to read (and it's a generally good read if you stick it through), it give concise and reasonably accurate comparisons of damage capabilities for both of the ATs.

Because you put alot of effort into it and did a good job and it is helpful to alot of folks. Good job!
I had a question though. It may have been answered somewhere in the 300 posts on this thread, but I didn't read all of them. Did you include fury for brutes? Ifso, how much?

Going off memory, I think I went for 90% fury. If that's wrong when I double check later, I'll edit this.

I am looking into the effect of gloom on the weapon sets given the revelation by BAB that weapon draw times can/will be removed. I'm curious to see how things end up with that in the mix. I'm thinking WM will make some large gains.
Too many alts to list.
Did he make another post after stating that he can't do it the way he thought due to problems with shields?
Be well, people of CoH.
Assuming that BAB does take out weapon animation pauses, and gloom can be worked into the chain, War Mace climbs up the ladder.
You swap in pulverize and gloom in place of shatter for a chain of
Clobber-Jawbreaker-Pulverize-Gloom
You get a DPS of 216 with EPS of 4.55. That moves it up to second after stone melee (other than the large crowd DM examples).
Too many alts to list.

UGGGGGHHHH I finished pg 13 and said to myself that I was just going to check how much longer.
I'm not going to click 14, im [censored] done.
Thanks for the information, this is really helpful I am now a little sad that MA is so low on the list though T_T
One question, mind you this may have been answered already in the 2xx posts, there's one that's there 2 times but will difference scores. Why is that?

Tenshi, Dark scrappers have Soul Drain instead of buildup, which scales in how much damage bonus it gives you based on how many enemies you hit with it; so the 10 listed means "hitting 10 targets with Soul Drain," which gives a much higher buff than the "hitting 1 target with Soul Drain."

Hi, let's do some thread necromancy. Any numbers regarding Electric Melee for scraps?
The thread died along time ago. Let it rest in pieces. ((Btw many of the numbers are off today, this was before 'The Great Brute Rebalancing' happened.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Both of which showed poorer numbers from scrappers than they are actually capable of on many powersets (not all).
The Results aren't in for Scrapper Battle Axe, Scrapper War Mace, or Scrapper Street Justice!

Let me rephrase then....
Do Ele Melee Scraps do better ST damage than Ele Melee brutes, even lacking gloom? If so, why? And what, if any, patron do they take? Rotation?
