So, anyone getting off the tram in AP33 feel free to /em wave to my brute greeting everyone.
Oh, you know which one. -
-
Combat, before I saw the ATO sets and what their bonuses were I was about to re-roll my tw/ele scrap to brute since the DPS is minimal according to you (how do you figure that out anyways?). But since the Brute ATO set is tied for last place in terms of awesome, and the scrapper one just about beats everything else (omg that CRIT!) I am planning on pushing with him unless they allow brutes to go past 80% fury without the temp power. If they changed the Brute ATO bonus to ADDITIONAL fury (cause like I said, you can't get past 80 without the temp), instead of % faster fury generation, I would be all over that.
BTW, I like that TW/Ele scrap build a lot. Smart use of HO/Purps. Not sure how I feel about the down time of shadow meld though considering I plan on using this guy in long fights. If shadow meld was perma-able I'd be all over this.
-
Quote:How much of a single target DPS difference do you think there is between a TW brute and scrapper? Or does fury boosting the DPS of the AOE aura help close that gap? Not having runners isn't THAT big a deal to me, but if the difference is close I'd rather go brute. Also going electric armor I am not that concerned about endurance once I get agility and ageless going.I went brute (after trying TW/DA scrap) because the inherent taunt in Brute attacks makes sure all those mobs stay clustered around you for the AOE pain of Sweep-Whirling-AOD repeat. I hated the running I was seeing on my scrapper. Plus I got to either pick Gloom or Energy PP with 2 endo givers. Turned out the EnergyPP was a better fit and my build with CB in place of Gloom ran better. Check out the Rikti Pylon Thread in the scrapper forum for more info!
Done.
CAPPED. -
Here is another one I made that is S/L capped with perma-hasten (also I +5ed my kincom sets). This is interchangeable with brutes.

Interesting thread, why did you go brute over scrapper? I am still up in the air as to either brute or scrapper for my TW/Ele character I will be making. I saw some of your posts regarding using gloom with the set and that caught my eye. What's your take on my first proposed TW/Ele build? I figured have one defensive sweep cap the smash/melee then shoot for as much fire/cold defense as possible while maintaining a high amount of recharge. My thought process is that negative isn't that common and my energy resists are already very high. This is interchangeable with brutes (who obviously benefit more from the higher resist caps of energy resistance and when power surge is popped). Both this build and my one below would be using Ageless.

Quote:I don't think it's the dumbest thing done to the game, I just think it is one of the dumber "fixes" they have done considering the length of time this has been known and how long it has gone as is, because now a large majority of the player population considers it a mechanic. My original post was some what knee jerk but now that I have thought about it more I still consider this down there with with stupid changes. If we eventually get those extra three slots they have mentioned this won't be that bad, but still...the time sink involved respeccing....is very un-motivating. And yes, I loved enszymes specifically because I could save quite a few slots and put elsewhere to maximize my characters. Not to mention getting to the DDR cap with active defense on the shields characters I have. If anything this will let my TW/Ele scrapper shine brighter comparatively.I don't think lotgs will skyrocket because it seems based on extensive use of the market that most people, myself among them, already use lotgs rather than enzymes. This is because, I suspect, most people don't come up with builds where the best choice they can make is to spend only two slots per toggle and get no bonuses from them while simultaneously overslotting endurance reduction.
GDN was the global defense nerf. Paragonwiki has a page about it. My point was not that that and ED were horrific blights upon the game but that they were handled much more stupidly than this. Here we have an exploit with limited use that has been acknowledged as broken by the devs. Their changing it now, three or four years after they last called attention to it, is the polar opposite of the sweeping, abrupt changes they put through in the first two years of the game.
The weird part is that you yourself acknowledge in what I've quoted there that there are plenty of ways to make up for enzymes finally being reined in. Are you sure you want to call this the worst thing that has ever happened to the game?
I agree how ED was handled was VERY bad. It's timing was fairly horrible and it was a bad time to be playing the game, unless you were absolutely new. A LOT of players that were there at launch were lost because of that and how it was handled.
Also, I still don't understand people's hate of being overpowered in a PVE game. In a game about super heroes. Where we had the main dev do interviews in a cape.
Anyways, I say let it stand and re-do tooltips or something, give HOs some form of value. -
Quote:Not all shield characters, just saying in general. Defenders to stalkers make use of HOs, or enzymes (everyone can take pool powers last I checked). My beef with it is how it has been a part of the game since HOs were even implemented (lol 50%).Oddly enough this fix has an impact on zero of my many top-end builds because I've never used it and wasn't planning to start. You seriously have 15 different shield characters?
If you think this is dumber than the GDN or ED or the many, many nerfings of Regen that were based on fallacious internal data, well... maybe you do play nothing but shield defense characters.
Also, if you weren't using enzymes in your top-end defense based characters then your definition of top-end and mine are different. LOTGs and Cytos are going to sky rocket.
Also, the enhancement diversification "nerf" became one of the best changes to this game. It was a horrible change when it happened, but it really did end up being one of the best things to happen now with the inclusion of sets. What is GDN? I've been subbed since 2004 and never seen that acronym.
Considering that this change affects ALL characters, whereas Regen only affected people who played the melee types, then yes, I consider it much worse. Wait, they DID fix Regen. It's called Willpower. -
This is the dumbest "fix" they have ever done IMO. Considering how long it has been in the game I'd say it is a part of the mechanics by now. Same way how some fighting games have unintentional mechanics that get "exploited" but left in by the devs. This change will seriously bone ALL top end shield defense builds, and basically ALL top-end builds. I was coming back for Issue 22, but now knowing I would have at least 15 characters to respec due to a "fix" kills that feeling entirely. I don't even really care about the billions of influence this change is costing me, it's the time involved.

Yeah I uninstalled and driver swept, went all the way back to 11.1 cat and I've been running flawless since.

@Pas: No its not you, you whiny little ****. <3 It's ClassH. He loves his Bob.
@Auroxis: Thanks for the feedback, and yea, all my melee characters are pretty much guaranteed to go T4 Ageless, this character (if made) would be no exception. My only issue with proccing out attacks is the loss of a set bonus.
@Micro: Thanks, that is what I was feeling also in regards to Gloom. My Ele/Shi brute already does amazing AOE (only outclassed by my SS/Fire brute) and does respectable ST damage considering the powerset combo. -
Let me rephrase then....
Do Ele Melee Scraps do better ST damage than Ele Melee brutes, even lacking gloom? If so, why? And what, if any, patron do they take? Rotation? -
Hi, let's do some thread necromancy. Any numbers regarding Electric Melee for scraps?
-
So, I have a Ele/Shi brute I absolutely love, but I have a buddy who swears by his Ele/Shi scrapper. I'm not opposed to re-rolling a scrapper as long as I can maintain the same (or better) single target damage my brute can put out due to Gloom being as freaking awesome as it is. With this build I have in mind for my scrapper I was thinking maybe a FB-CI-JL-CB-repeat rotation to try to squeeze out as much DPS on a single target as possible. Currently on my Brute I go GLOOM-CI-JL-CB and I can kill pylons in around 5 minutes with a non-saturated AaO and no pets. Here is the proposed build (cost isn't an issue since I can gut the brute of these parts). Also, I will have T4 Ageless, hence the Stamina slotting.
edit: Before people chime in "lol want ST DPS go DM" I build to maximize my weaknesses in a set. I'm fully aware ST DPS is not Ele melee's strong point. Thunder ******* a mob followed by an AOE shield to the face is ridiculously awesome though.

I'd like to see Eden retooled just to get past the whole "speedrun" deal and make the merits worthwhile. And make it cooperative if you have to.
I just love Eden. Awesome map, feels like Jurassic Park and King Kong gone terribly wrong. -

It's a quite *obscure* quote of course, I doubt *anyone* here has heard it before, but not everyone can be as well-read, insightful, and just plain handsome as I am. Ah well, we all have our crosses to bear.
Quote:Re-tooling the Eden task force to be lvl 35 to 50 would be a fabulous idea, IMO. If they ever actually adjust that trial (they once hinted at their desire to rework it so that it had some more stuff to do), I hope they also consider reworking its level range. Side-benefit is it could force them to re-examine the level expansion they made to DE and make it more thoroughly. -
Quote:It was scheduled, they just changed it when people reminded them it was broken. They'd said they had a fix in the pipe, but didn't think it would make it in time, hence changing it. So now that it's fixed, I expect it to be on June's schedule.
Yeah, I was really looking forward to that week but was wondering if it would be fixed by the time they rolled it out as the WST. Myself and quite a few of my close playing buddies were pretty dissapointed when it had to be changed. My only thing now is I wish I could do a level 50 version of it. I like my sets and incarnate powers. Oh well...cake and all that. I'm pretty happy. -

Quote:For the sake of humanity I really...really wish you were.Well, I'm not trolling. On the other hand, you aren't exactly being clear with your posts.
My posts are pretty loud and clear to people with any common sense and knowledge about this game. I am sarcastic with almost all of my writing, but when I do employ sarcasm in my writing it's so far the polar opposite of what I'm advocating it is normally easily understood as such. I didn't need the PT Barnum thing explained considering the context you used it in. To most people with an exposure to famous quotes and critical thinking skills, me name dropping Einstein and alluding to one of his quotes should have left no question as to which it was. You questioned it, where does this leave you? Showing a lack of common sense and critical thinking skills makes it hard for one to take your complaints and criticisms about this game seriously.
Plain and simple a 1:1 ratio for notice:rare is pretty far fetched, even to someone as myself who supports most casual friendly decisions in this game. If you have complaints about this not alleviating a grind in this game then let me explain...
This game does NOT have grinding. How many serious MMOs do you know of where you can log in for 30 minutes and make real progress with high end content? Every day? And not be gated for a week. -
Quote:Well, that particular PT Barnum quote (about suckers being born every minute) is extremely well known.
As to the Einstein quote, I'm not sure if you mean "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe." or "Too many of us look upon Americans as dollar chasers. This is a cruel libel, even if it is reiterated thoughtlessly by the Americans themselves." I'm guessing the first one. I would tend to agree as demonstrated in this thread are people are willing to thank the developers for grossly over-charging them with each successive conversion they put in the game.
The developers want to charge more to convert than doing the associated task in order to provide incentive to do those tasks. In theory, that is great. However, the developers have consistently shown that they rather make conversion rates that people will use rarely.
Will these conversions be used? The Notice conversion might, the Favor conversion is a stupidity tax.
*pwoooossshhhhh*
That was the sound of something going over your head. You are either A) trolling me or B) god bless you it's almost cute. -
-
Quote:So how is being able to convert a previous tiers worth of mats punishment at all? I think being able to do the WST and get two guaranteed commons is a real sweet deal on top of the merits you are already getting. Considering I have needed commons across my handful of incarnates MUCH more than I need rares/very rares I personally like this a lot. Running trials I get my rares/very rares normally well ahead of the Astral Merits and Threads I need to make the commons. This is a needlessly punishing conversion rate joining with the Thread Uncommon->Rare and Rare->Very Rare rates, the Shards->Threads rate, any of the component breakdown rates, and the Inf->Prestige conversion rate.
A Notice of the Well should directly convert to a Thread Rare component, not 2 common thread components. Getting a Notice of the Well is real time restricted to a 7 day period already. Getting a Favor of the Well is time restricted to 14 days.
Now, if the Notice of the Well + 60 threads converted to Thread Rare Component, that might be acceptable. Following that logic, a Favor of the Well + 120 threads should convert to a V. Rare component.
I'm happy there is an option at all. It also gets people doing the WSTs again. It's a win-win for everyone.
Now make Eden the WST for a month please.
