In Tailor - I have a different face/costume

I am returning to the game after being away for several years. My character is of course the same, but when I go to the tailor to make some changes, it seems my face and the upper part of my costume have reverted to some sort of default state. Do I need to pay for them to be changed back to the way they are currently? If I make changes elsewhere, will I lose the face/upper body costume I currently have?

EDIT - It's also automatically charging me for changing the upper body and head, and when I hit "reset" on those nothing happens.

I've noticed a similar problem, sometimes the hair will set to fury or something like that, most of my characters are bald. When this happens to me reset does nothing, but if you go in and manually set it to what it was before it's fine. The cost will disappear once you manually set it back to what it was.

I don't know what causes it, but I've never seen it affect anything but the hair.

Thanks for the reply! I'm thinking that the system has changed since I originally made my character years ago. It has changed my mask, face, and the pattern on my upper body, as far as I can tell so far. I managed to get that pattern back, but the charge was still there for that part of my costume... I'm still working at it! I hope I can find my original settings. Don't really want to lose my face.

As far as I know, it is caused by rearranging of costume parts. So when logging an old character in, it can't find the original parts due to it is placed somewhere else.

Panthera - That's what I was thinking. So I guess I'm just going to have to find it myself. I appreciate the response!

Do you have an old screenshot? Maybe we could help figure out which styles you used.

Please note, some options/combos/parts are no longer available.

For example, my original Defender and scrapper both use what was called the "Pointy Ear Head" - back before ears became a detail. This head is no longer available, and there are no matching ears (the pointy ears where more human looking, kinda like Vulcan ears, compared to what we have available). As such, unless I don't mind loosing the ears, I cannot change the costumes or he looses his ears.

One notable instance is the malaise pants - those are now NPC only, so if you got to the tailor and save the the costume, they are gone.

Inokis - Thank you so much. I think I managed to work everything out to my satisfaction. Her face is a bit different, but it's mostly behind a mask anyway, so very little harm done. Besides, what girl in the big city doesn't get a bit of a face lift every few years. Right? That's my story for her anyway.

Leech - Thanks for your note too. Yeah, I think my old face was gone, as you mentioned some were. But she had to have a cape... so bye-bye to those nice cheek bones.

This will be one of the things to watch for after i15 comes out. They're adding 20 new faces. Hopefully, they'll just tack them on to the end instead of reordering them, but past experience says this may not be so.

My bald trench coat wearing stalker has this issue every time I use the tailor, as soon as the costume editing page apears, low and behold my head has the fury hair cut, and my v-cut/tattered trench coats tails are always just v-cut, I have to change them baxck every single time.

Quite frustrating, I feel yourt pain lol

This was not the case for me sometime back. The charges remained, and were indeed taken from my funds. I bugged it at the time, but never heard boo about it afterward. Has this been fixed? I've been reluctant to use the Tailor (one of my favorite features) because of this.

If you can find the right piece, it vanishes. Sometimes, I don't think there IS a right piece. Had one do that to me the other day actually, I thought I had the right face on her but it just never went away.

It's possible that the head choice wasn't the same, but the face was. That Pointy Ear head thing does oddly rear itself some times when you don't expect it, especially on very old characters.

I used to have this problem with my namesake (see my avatar). I found that by switching to the Full Mask category and choosing None (or Neck Cover, which is what I use) for Masks the Bald look never gets messed up.

With older characters that use outdated and renamed options (many of the Faces and Hair selections have been renamed as well as reordered) this problem will always pop up. This is why the devs have given us Free Tailor Sessions whenever they make these kind of changes. These kind of problems are what they are supposed to be used for. That way you don't get charged for correcting a costume change that they made. Since they give Free Tailor Sessions, naturally they are not going to respond to such a costume bug, because it is expected.

To clarify, this was not an "old" character. The costumes were not old or outdated as far as I could tell. The piece in question for me is the thigh high boots. They may have been re-ordered, but the costumes are available as their original name and form.

The first time, I corrected the costume with the proper selections and was charged. I exited the Tailor with the corrected costume.

The second time I entered the Tailor, the wrong costume again appeared, and I had to re-correct it, again accruing charges.

The third time it happened, I bugged it (& backed out of the Tailor, not wishing to pay yet again). This happened back in early March.

Thigh boots DID get changed recently, so... I dunno.

I know that, which is why I went ahead with the first change.

However, when I entered the Tailor the second time (I'd forgotten to add my aura), the correction had not "taken" (I was still getting plain boots with blue "tights" under my white skirt. >.&lt. So I corrected it a second time (yes, including changing to bikini bottoms).

BOTH times, I exited the Tailor with the corrected costume. And was charged BOTH times.

When I entered the Tailor a third time and the corrections had still not "stuck", I gave up.

As I said, I'll take another gander at it later. Hopefully, it's been fixed.

Changes to the internals on things like faces, hair, etc. over the years do cause this when taking a character to the tailor for the first time in a long stretch. No real way around it but to re-create the look you want using the current features.

My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.

I have a little gray bald alien that for some reason is always given hair when I stop at the tailor. Setting him back to bald fixes the charge back to zero but it's a little bit annoying that it keeps "Rogaine-ing" me.

I blame today's youth oriented culture with their hairless male torsos and perfect teeth and hair.

See my post above. If you want to keep the bald and not worry about that auto hair switch, use the Full Masks head.
