Male or Female, I don't want anyone hitting on me in-game.

How about this. Don't assume anyone is or is not a woman. Assume they are a person and treat them the same way you (male or female, still a person) would prefer to be treated. Beleive it or not, people love this sort of thing either on teams or in zonewide or global channels. Or in real life. Crazy stuff, I know, but it is true.

I normally don't do "QFT" posts. But this one really deserved it.

QFT.

DarkCurrent: People like you attacking myself and the OP will surely get you in with the girls named "StankSkank" who talk about their boobs in public channel and in team chat. Keep on doing what you're doing, and some day, some nice..."girl" will ask you to be her eboyfriend.

Dare to dream, my friend, dare to dream.

I can sorta see both sides of the issue. I know that there are guys out there trying to pass themselves off as women, and usually in an obnoxious "I'm a girl with big chesties so give me stuff, hon" sort of way. And yeah, I can see why other guys would find that annoying. Heck, I find it annoying when I see someone whose being fairly obvious about doing it.

On the other hand, as a real honest to goodness genetic female, I truly understand how obnoxious the "Only guys play computer games so all you self-proclaimed "ladies" are really gender break freaks just trying to mess with everyone!" attitude is too. At nearly 45 years old, I've been playing computer games longer than most of the people who claim that "girls don't do that" have been alive. Telling me that I can't be a woman who plays online games seems very prejudicial to me. Try substituting the word "black" or "jew" for "woman" in a post with that sentiment and see what kind of storm gets raised.

So, while I see why the OP included it on his list, I also think he fully deserves being called out about also. I know that I for one would not have had a problem if he had said something along of lines of "Players with female toons who try to get special consideration because of their apparent gender". As I've said, that annoys me too.

None of this crap should be an issue. People need to mind their own is what it boils down to.

How to not get in a group with me: talk about dumb shite like this in game or just be a [censored]. Other than that, if you can play the game well and dont say anything to damned stupid, i'm fine with you.

Main reason I mostly just game with the wife, mother and father.

ok so doing a bit of a post repeat on what others have said, but I have never really even thought about the sex of the person behind the keyboard. What does it matter? Let's say for example you are lonely dude. A skanky chick joins your team and starts hitting on you. Chances are pretty good you don't live in the same town, will never meet and don't look anything like your characters. So what is the point of knowing the sex of the player? If you are heavy RP - then the toons are male/female (or m/m or f/f if you swing that way) then you can RP to your hearts content (please just don't use the broadcast channel!)

There have been objections from the female gamers about not being accepted as being female. That other players assume your dudeness. WTF does it matter? In the anonymous world of CoX how does it make any difference if they know you are a male or a female?

Women - don't be so defensive
Guys - don't be turds

Isn't that pretty simple?

Of course I really don't understand the need for 37 year old best buy geek squad (they own their OWN clip on ties!!) to make their main a 15 year old anime cat girl. I always try to put myself into my characters, so I just never see myself like that I guess.

How ELSE to not get on a team:

-"Invite me to ur group!" No. No manners, no team invite. Try "Hey, do you guys have space for a 37 <AT>?" Why yes, yes we do!

-Send a tell asking for a team invite, then don't respond when you're asked to provide level/AT information. Then half an hour after that ask to team with us again.

City of Heroes taught me that when the world is burning, you don't just stand by and watch, you grab a fire extinguisher and do whatever you can to stop it-even if it's not much at all. Sign the petition to keep City of Heroes alive HERE.

I tend to get tells from people wanting me to leave my mission to join theirs. This always boggles me, since I am clearly 'On (a) Mission Map' and not looking for a team.

My favorite one was the guy who politely (and with proper spelling), asked me to leave the team I was on to join his, because they needed a healer badly to finish their AV.

I think I might have handled that the wrong way. ""k. OMW, give me a sec to exit." And then stayed on my group. Repeat everytime the guy asked if I were still coming. Then go look a few hours later to see if the exchange ended up on the "Rude Tells" thread in Player Questions.

any woman who thinks they are proving women have what it takes to be a success in the video game (or any) industry by taking advantage of their womanhood are not only degrading themselves to a point where even if they were a confirmed female I wouldnt want anything to do with them, but are also only proving that they dont need to meet the standard because some guy with a hard on will carry them (duh).

What a fascinating treatise. When you get around to your point, and if it doesn't boil down to "GIRLZ HAVE TEH COOTIEZ," do let me know, won't you?

Oh MY SIGNED When I started I used to play nothing but male characters because I didn't want anyone to know I was a woman. There was the whole "Chicks can't play this right mentality" Then I discovered there were a bunch of GUYS playing female characters because "I am not staring at a guys butt all day while I play" LOL I started creating female characters and have, for the most part, ever since. NO I have no desire to take this to the Arena and see who is DA BEST but I will stack my Tanks, Scrappers, Controllers, Defenders, and Blasters against anyone's anyday. Oh and on many occasions the "little girl" playing with us was the one that took down the mob after the rest of the team face planted and saved a team wipe and trip to hospital.

SO do let us know when you actually make a point At least one that is valid (That means.. TRUE LOL)

Myself I have always loved the guy that bugs to join and when he gets the invite and joins the team is lying face down on the side walk about half a mile away with no health bar showing. "OH this is good He hasn't even gotten inside yet and he's dead" LOL Okay so anyone can get ambushed but it does look really bad to show up dead.

Find out I actually am a female and start hitting on me in tells. I'm here to have fun and be a hero NOT looking for a date and definately not looking for Cyber Thanks but NO thanks!

Lets see .. "BRB the dog needs to be walked" "BRB Phone" "BRB I need a smoke" "BRB I need something to eat" "BRB ......" Not once but several of those over the course of a mission or two along with sitting AFK inside the mission after Mission Complete while we wait for you to be Back again. A while back we did a Posi race. Two teams 4 members starting at the same time and seeing who could finish first. My team had a Warshade that did this on almost every single mission. He spent more time at the door AFK than helping at all.. worst part was we couldn't kick him the rules said we had to have 4 just like the other team. We lost of course.

Ahhh an oldie but BADDIE and I wish I had been the leader of this team cause the guy would have been GONE. Team leader invites a 2nd "healer" to join the team. This guy immediately starts barking out orders.. stay together and stay close to me! I am not running around to heal you. Then begins picking on the 2 Sks we have along telling them they are hurting the team because he has to spend more time healing them than those that have the RIGHT to be here.

I actually sent the leader, a friend of mine, a tell and told him to kick the guy. He couldn't or wouldn't, apparently the clown was another friend and a leader in his SG. Well the Sks quit along with their mentors (friends teaming together). Several others quit as well and then Mr. Obnoxious quit as well I guess a team of 3 wasn't enough XP for his tastes. I finished that mission with my buddy as a duo. Join MY team and start giving orders and insulting team members and YOU are toast!
