I find them useful until i start getting SO's slotted. I do have three alt's that use them heavily:
A speedster toon for concept: He uses shadow maul, sands of mu, and flurry. I really wish there was more of a speedster power set for punches.
Willpower/SS tank - rage crash - you need something that does damage and sands of mu is my goto.
Mace tank - again for concept, he is an ancient weapons specialist, so he has a mace, the GS Axe, fists wrapped like ancient cestus, and right now he has a longbow from a safeguard and an sword from a croatoa mish. -
my question is how do you turn on that "hitpoint/damagebonus/regen/etc" box?
-
I have a question for you all. Be warned it involves math.
In my combat attributes screen it shows that I have a 25% Fire defense, and a 7.5% melee defense. I also have a 10% fire damage resistance. So as I understand it if I ONLY had those numbers, a fire ranged attack would be at -25% to base to hit, but a fire melee attack would be at a - 32.5% to hit. If they hit for 100 points of damage I would only take 90 pts of damage? Do I have that right? -
I must be mistaken then Fleeting, I thought there was one just for binds and macro's in here. Thanks for the bind Rangle that will help a lot.

I started playing in December and the Winter event was already going.. I loved the jingle jet pack and for me the Winter event is a great part of CoH. I have to say after this many retreads.. lose snappy. And muscle baby midget newyear.
Last year I had no clue about the zombies and was just playing with a PuG when all of sudden we were swarmed.. THAT was wicked cool. What ever you do new this year Dev's DON'T TELL! Let it surpise everyone - that was the best part
Here's looking forward to getting my new alt's their extra costume slot! -
So what about macro's can they turn on multiple toggles? For instance, I set a bind up to turn on each power individually, and do the costume change and change emote, then put all those into a macro? Can that be done?
-
There used to be a forum for binds, but since the new format (hate the new forum format btw) I can't ever seem to find anything.
so I need some help.
I need to know what to put in to make a macro or bind that will:
Do a costume change
run a costume change emote
turn on my tanks toggles
Can this be done, and if so how do i do it? -
No not the hook.. the attack.. I would love to see a melee set based on the ability to hold and inflict damage. Something where it is a toggle. Ideally you hold the enemy with you, so that if you flew to the height max then dropped them, they would take major damage. Something wrestling-ish. Thoughts?

Four letters long, and you managed to spell it wrong. It's FIOS.

Yup I got it wrong.. I thought it was fibre optic internet service. And Technically it is FiOS. -
better than those is Avira antivirus. It is free from free-av.com. Independent tests rate it higher than anything else.

How about 50Mbps down and 20 Mbps up? YUP! 50 DOWN! I think it is worth the measly $145 a month! -
How is DXP meaningless because of AE? Not everyone plays AE, in fact some people play IN SPITE of AE...

Pepsi sucks and is full of pure unfiltered evil. If Pepsi's evil were people it would be China. Pepsi is doing evil lessons with Satan. It is going well, he is a quick study.
Pepsi is the 10th level of Hell. Pepsi is so full of awful that even Chuck Norris cannot roundhouse kick the evil out of it.
Coke is the softdrink equivalent of the second coming. Drinking Coke makes you a better person. If Quebecers drank Coke, we would actually keep them. Hitler liked Pepsi. Pepsi is the favourite in 19 out of 20 terrorists. Pepsi could not be worse even if it went back in time and added it's worseness to itself. It has attained terminal worseness. The black stuff on Supernatural that the demons are made of is a gaseous form of Pepsi. Kids that ate paste in school drink Pepsi. Pepsi is so bad it is practically a government program
Pepsi is a Nemesis plot. -

Should be more hardcore and not get any badges. Those were added after launch too and should probably penalize himself for any XP he gets from badges by accident. Oh and don't forget to work off all that patrol XP at some point. Should be uber hardcore and stop at level 40 as well, no PI or level 50 back in the day if you remember! No going to the Hollows or Croatoa and the aforementioned revamped Faultline or Cimerora either.
Delete folks off your global friends list too. You should stick to "old school" slotting as well, IE: 1 acc and 5 damage in your attacks, GO! This is excusable for any attacked tweaked to knockdown where you can slot a knockback enh to make it more annoying. Shoot, we also got an XP tweak and the curve was flattened out a bit so you're going to have to look up old XP tables and do some math to penalize yourself properly especially if you don't go hardcore enough to stop at 40.
Goes without saying that the tweaked Greenlines and such are off limits. I don't know how many hero side cape and respec missions you have to do to equal their old difficulty... ahh one shotting tanks with rikti swords in the cape mission, how I don't miss you. Oops that's another, one shot code, you have to kill yourself anytime it saves you. No PVP, not even arena! Be careful how you make your toon, lots of changes to the costume editor too, and none of those fancy propagated power sets or anything new! Hell, no CoV at all duh!

and the award for most obnoxious poster goes to....
What is your problem? The OP states that he is having fun playing without the crutches and you go overboard? You missed the point of the thread entirely. Ever heard of "if you can't say anything nice..." I realize I am breaking that rule to call you on this, but don't be such a clod.
to the OP: I agree, I prided myself on being able to run the gulch in the Hollows at lvl 8. Playing without the teleporters, and all the temp powers is a fun challenge. -

That, and if anyone ever says magic is "old-fashioned" or "medieval", then... um... go read Harry Potter... or speak to a Wiccan. ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm, I am not sure how to break this to ya.. Wiccan's can't do magic. If I speak to a wiccan I am pretty darn sure they are not going to convince me that magic is 'modern'. I like playing the occasional magic based toon, but you kind of bidened your argument on that one. -
Thanks that was really helpful. i hadn't thought about using acc/dam from different sets.
-
I swear by it.. I see no reason to nerf it though. It is fine for damage, but it is the knockdown that is so useful. I don't believe the devs would nerf it just because it is effective and popular. That would be stupid to tick off a lot of players who love it, for no real reason. It isn't an I win power. It is a good power.

So I have a lvl 30 and I am looking into switching from SO's to IO's as the "normal" ones are now equivalent to SO's.
I was trying to make sense of the "special" IO sets, but there is information overload. are there any suggestions on which I should use?
Which sets for the powers would be best but not cost me all my inf buying. I know there are some mega sets, but they also cost a fortune. Am I better just going with the "normal" IO's? -
I thought about batman as a Dark/Nin but the puffy black clouds just ruin the effect for me, also in many of the movies he uses a lot of kicking. MA's AS is also a hand strike. I think of it is grabbing someone from the shadows and twisting the neck.
I like Nin for Bats as the caltrops etc, make for some of the toys.
On the villian side, all my villians I play as vigilante heros. Taking on corrupt police, I will always avoid FC fights if I can, and avoid the bank robberies too. Almost every villian group you go up against in CoV is a villian group themselves. When I do have to battle hero groups, it is justified as being a corrupt offshoot. Taking out the bad apples as it were.
I am really looking forward to going rogue, so my vigilantes can sometimes work on the side of the law.
As a last thought, wouldn't it be cool if you could set CoH to always be set to night time, so you do all your prowling patrolling at night? Would really work for the RP crowd I think. -

"When in a big crowd, is often overwhelme"
Did you see the scene in Batman Begins when he drops down into the middle of an entire group of bad guys in that warehouse and beats on them all? I guess if you take into account Dark Knight he seems to be able to handle any situation though. If I were to make him in this game I'd probably go stalker though and then when the expansion hits, switch sides. Maybe that spy class has melee though. I don't know really.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes and my stalker can sometimes take on a group too, but he also is attacked by the mob in full panic, and is down, until he hits his escape button with his grapple gun. Just saying he is defeatable by 'normal' villians.
Plus if you play a stalker in a team, esp MA/nin you will often feel like you are outclassed, esp if with brutes and corruptors. Kind of like bats in the JL. Seriously, you have WW, GL, Flash, Supes, and.. this guy? Good thing he is smart. So that is how I play my stalker. -
ooooookay.. but if you were to represent the character in the game.. the CLOSEST AT would be a stalker.
-
I was thinking, Batman (in this incarnation and really the comics for the most part too) is a stalker.
Follow me here:
Comparatively low hitpoints. Sneak attack single take downs. When in a big crowd, is often overwhelmed. Studies ninjitsu. I think he would be an MA/Ninjitsu stalker.
I also say villian side, because he is hunted by the police. Most of redside is spent attacking villian groups and getting harrassed by rogue isle police.
your thoughts? -
ok so doing a bit of a post repeat on what others have said, but I have never really even thought about the sex of the person behind the keyboard. What does it matter? Let's say for example you are lonely dude. A skanky chick joins your team and starts hitting on you. Chances are pretty good you don't live in the same town, will never meet and don't look anything like your characters. So what is the point of knowing the sex of the player? If you are heavy RP - then the toons are male/female (or m/m or f/f if you swing that way) then you can RP to your hearts content (please just don't use the broadcast channel!)
There have been objections from the female gamers about not being accepted as being female. That other players assume your dudeness. WTF does it matter? In the anonymous world of CoX how does it make any difference if they know you are a male or a female?
Women - don't be so defensive
Guys - don't be turds
Isn't that pretty simple?
Of course I really don't understand the need for 37 year old best buy geek squad (they own their OWN clip on ties!!) to make their main a 15 year old anime cat girl. I always try to put myself into my characters, so I just never see myself like that I guess. -
Apparently there is a new class... Spy
-
Since CoV brought us new archtypes, maybe this will too.. What if we get a multiclass type. A true melee/blaster mix. A scrapper with ranged pistols say? a tanktroller?
