SR sucky vs. Vahzilok?
the pollutant story is a low level arc, and SR is a late maturing set,
personally on a defense set I've never really noticed the survivability difference till after 20% is reached, which on SR took me till mid 20s (and mid 30s to get over 30% which was a VERY noticable difference)
But stick with it, you'll be fine,
(At least until Cimerora, their def debuffs are nasty)
The luminous eidolon's radiation blast attacks have a -def component, but other than that your problem is simple: you're a low level defense set. You'll suffer now. You'll shine later.
Yeah I figured that had something to do with it as well but..idk I just seemed to hold up better against other groups like the Skulls and Outcasts etc. than I did against the Vahz.
All melee sets suck against Vahzilok. It's the faction I fear the most throughout the 1-50 game when I'm a meleer.
Pretty much everyone holds up better against Skulls and Outcasts than they do against Vahzilok.
Actually, Claws/regen does really well against Vahz, because of it's click defenses(heals) which work for all damage and positions, and claws being quick recharging and lethal.
I think the Vahz big hitter, their close range zombie vomit, is a cone, and thus is an AoE, which SR has no defense against at that level range. I could be wrong though.
At least you don't have typed defense. Stupid reapers and their "All toxic no lethal" crossbow bolts.

You know, that's exactly what I was thinking too, because the only ones that were doing the vomit were the abominations, and that's what kept hitting the most I think. I kept thinking throughout the entire story arc "I bet that damn thing's a cone" lol.

The zombies puke on a Necro MM is a cone. I would think that the puke in the NPC zombie baddies would be a cone too.
Thus solveing your SR is weak against zombies......
protector-knight: lvl 50 invun/axe tank
Lillian Brick: lvl 50 stone/stone/pyre tank
Hybrid-knight: lvl 50 db/regen scrap
Vengful-Nature: lvl 50 spines/sr/bod scrap
Element-Wizard: lvl 50 fire/storm/stone troll

I can dodge punches. I can even dodge bullets, but I can't avoid the regurgitation of the undead traveling at me at half the speed of smell (and believe me it does smell).
At least I know which enemy group to avoid now edit: at least until I get my aoe defenses.
By the time you get AoE defense of any kind, Vahzilok will all con gray to you, even the AV.
Getting an SR to the 30s, where it starts to shine, is like an initiation. You get to earn your badassitude :P

Why back in my day, enemies got tohit buffs with higher rank and level instead of accuracy buffs. "Come on, hero, can't you dodge ANYTHING?!?!"
We didn't have no fancysmancy scaling resists neither. You got hit, it tore right through ya.
Wasn't until level 41 when you could get permalude up and runnin that the set was worth anything at all!
Hell, when you turned on your toggles, they gave the enemies tohit buffs!
Now get off my lawn!
Be well, people of CoH.

Ah, the permalude crash dance.
When they nuked permalude I wasn't mad because I lost defense, I was mad because that was my travel power.

... bill, you left out "We had passives that cost endurance to use!"
Well, you did; I wasn't playing SR.

OK, the First Rule of Regen is you do not brag about Regen.
I still remember the old days when Regen got nerfed five issues in a row.

How could I forget that? How long did quickness cost end? Wasn't it the only passive in that game with that bug?
Be well, people of CoH.
Resiliance used to be a toggle, and thus when it was turned into a passive before beta ended, it still costed endurance as well.
And don't forget in the old days when elude was even more useless than it is now, when it was a toggle that made it so you couldn't attack. It was basically a gimpy version of personal force field.
And sorry phydaux *wink*, didn't realize regen was still in the dev's sights.
I still remember when they nerfed Integration: "made portion(read: half) of its regen unenhancable and slightly reduced unenhancable portion of integration. (read: gutted it by slicing it in half)"
I wasn't against the change, but dang it devs, say what you mean, and don't use the words 'slight' and 'portion'.
Let's see: toxic damage, resistant to immobs which a lot of controllers/blasters use, toxic darts that debuff recharge, exploding zombies that can pretty much wipe a team, lt's/bosses with def debuffs/stun auras/supermega heals, lt's that can rez minions. Yep, Vahz are a massive pain in the rear at low levels.
Personally, I find FA to do well against the Vahzilok at low levels for a few reasons. Resistance to stuns is in Fire Shield, the first power. Toxic Resistance is built into Healing Flames which you can have really early. And zombies just don't like being set on fire.

Eh, I've been bragging about Regen since I started posting on the forum. So far, the only changes since then have been buffs.
More bragging! Buff Regen!
(But yeah. I stopped playing for six months after dealing with nerfs every issue. I just couldn't take it any more.)

It's probably the opposite. Nobody does, so there hasn't been an issue.
Besides, Regen is hardly king of the hill or flavor of the month. It's a great secondary, but so are... well... all the other secondaries.

Which is why the scrapper forums almost completely lack the drama of the other forums around here.
We know we have it good. Not too good, mind you, but good. All the secondaries perform about on par with each other (except FA and DA, but they get self-rezzes for their trouble) and they're all pretty dang fun.
Be well, people of CoH.
Or any defense oriented set I suppose? I just finished that Vahzilok pollutant story arc and I noticed for some reason the mobs, particularly the abominations, would just chew through my defenses like nothing. I had to check several times just to make sure I had remembered to turn on my toggles..
Do they just have better accuracy than other mob groups, or -def attacks or something? I know every set has their "counter-group" and I think Vahzilok is SR's. >_>
