You'll never hear me talk crap to a Tanker who skips Taunt. Whammer, my Invul/SS, is lvl 43 and hasn't had Taunt since before The Crisis of Infinite Nerfs.
Heraclea's gide is awesome. Seems like Willpower is real close to the one thing I would have bet my yam bag that the Devs would never give us - A Regen Tanker.
BTW, I rolled a WP/DB last night and leveled her to 6 in the Sewers. Only defeated once when I was gang-mezed. Very nice. -

OK, I rolled a WP/DB Tanker yesterday and played her up to lvl 6. Her name is Reform School Girl.
I'm gonna try to ding 8 by tonight and 10 by the time of the event.
I'll be on today from ~3:30-5:00 PM EST. -
Love my Kat/Regen. Was my first 50.
Scrapper forum legend Buffy Summers is a Kat/Invul. The +Def from Divine Avalanche and the Resist from Invul synergise well.
And the +Def from Divine Avalanche only makes Super Reflexes that much more super.
Heraclea's guide to Willpower should make Kat/WP a breeze. -
What Tanker will have more HP - An Invul Tanker with Dull Pain up, or a Willpower Tanker with HPT?
HPT is up 24/7, but Dull Pain is also a self-heal. Tough call.

There is no "wrong" Scrapper. Any well built combo can work.

I'd like some comments on my build. Whammer is currently lvl 42, so he will be slotted out with all lvl 40 basic IOs. I don't intend to start farming for sets until lvl 50.

Whoa, wait, what? MOG is must have? I haven't hear that since I first started playing, back in the heady days of Perma-MOG and, dear lord, Perma-Unstoppable.
After The Crisis of Infinite Nerfs MoG was considered a skippable power. So was Instant Healing for that matter.
So MoG doesn't drop you to 25% health? And you can still heal during it's duration? Does it still offer huge +Def & +Res?
Emminem is a rapper, but he's white? Out top pro golfer is black? MoG is must have?

VERY cool! I took all the Invul passives mostly for theme reasons. Now I'm really glad I did.
So if I have RPD & Tough Hide, what does that give me? 50% Def Debuff Resist?
Whammer is decked out in all self-crafted lvl 40 basic IOs. IIRC lvl 40 basic IOs give a little more of a buff than a +2 green SO, but never degrade. That should do me until lvl 50, and save me a ton of $$$. -

Dude, your build is a clown built. You're running a one-trick pony, theme spec and you're posting on the forums wondering why you're struggling as a main tank?
OK, you tried your "interesting" Tanker build, and you're having problems. Take the advice of the long-time Tankers here and go for a more ballanced build.
As it stands, any pull that includes a Sapper = a team wipe.
The knock-up & knock-down in the SS set = mitigation. And Knockout blow hits harder that most Scrapper alpha attacks. Dead enemies don't hit back. That's more mitigation.
Is someone in your team pressuring you into this build? If so, you might want to rethink your relationship with this person. I don't think he is really your friend. -

I'm just gonna take a wild-[censored] guess here - Is one of your major problems lack of Endurance?
That's a poop-load of toggles you're running. Do you really feel the need for that much mitigation over and above what Invul already has built in?
Whammer is my Invul/SS Tanker, and he don't run anything from the fighting pool. I have no problems tanking with Whammer, except 8-man missions set to Invincible. -
Razer Girl soloed the whole Praetorian Earth story arc as a Kat/Regen. That's like, what, 8 AVs?

One place where Whammer has gotten a lot of bang for his buck is all the knock up & knock down effects in SS. Early on Whammer purchased Air Superiority from the Flight pool. This, along with Knockout Blow & Foot Stop, go a LONG way to keeping particularly nasty mobs on their butts.
For example, any group of high level mobs with a Sapper can easily spell death for a Tanker. But by targeting the Sapper first, a SS Tanker can use his knock-up & knock-down attacts to keep the Sapper from attacking at all until it is defeated. -
Stone is tough, but the only thing Whammer fears is Psy & Sappers.
And Sappers are squishy. -
D'oh! It's Unyielding that has the built in Def debuff. My bad. In my defence, it's been close to three years since I've played.
Anyway, does Unyielding still have a Def debuff? -
Is all that really nessasary outside of PVP?
IIRC even after The Crisis of Infinate Nerfs I still managed to solo the Praetorian Earth story arc with just SOs.
