Who Votes for i12 pvp back
AS definitely showed who the noobs were.
If you got hit with an AS, you were a noob.
(btw, break frees helped a lot against those holds. Just because you were bad doesn't mean i12 pvp was)
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

PvP is fine the way it is thank you very much.
I remember I-12: holds that lasted forever, unresistable noob, er, assassin strike, OPed Widows, and low talent players taking out skilled players with ease. Good riddance to I-12 PvP - it was terrible. Once all the ATs are available to both side...balance.

That's why the idea of a zone that offers I12 is the best idea.
Or alternate Siren's Calls and Recluse's Victorys that offer the old PvP.

Phase. I13 is the reason why phase became so popular. Sure, all the top players had been using it for years, but after I13 almost everybody got it. I went from having a couple toons with phase, to almost every single one having it.
I predicted it before I13 ever went live. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen. When you take away ALL possibility of skilled evasion, all that's left is to phase. Especially in zones, where getting ganked 10v1 is pretty routine.

You actually have 10 people in a zone? If so, consider your server fortunate. You're lucky if you find 3 people in a pvp zone at one time on Pinnacle...lol

While the rest of your post was a good laugh, this one line really stands out. Since the changes it is way more about the build than the skill. While I could often take on many people at once on any build in i12 and do well with evasion and inpires no amount of anything can help in i13+ pvp.
I know there are fans of the new pvp because they don't get perma held on their rp tanks and what not. You really just could have gotten better at the old system instead of try to dumb it down enough so that you could feel adequate in pvp. 99% of the i12 complaints were solved by using inspires. Sort of odd they actually tried to make pvp less inspire oriented while at the same time adding ma which encourages people to use them more in pve.
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
Just need to go back to I12 rules. Increase pvp smashing and lethal damage.
Allow tough and epic shields resists to all but only half of the normal that it gives to s/l. So if it gives 30% S/L then you would have 15% to everything else.
Toss suppression unless actually hit by a person.
If the devs really want all holds to affect players and only for a short while, fine. Put mez protection back and increase the mag to say 40vs players. That way the heavy will not hold your brute for 15 seconds.
If you can figure out how to drop the resists and def of toggles you can figure out how to keep RttC and AAO going without having them affect the player or anything else.
Toss DR.
Once you are back to this point then you can make smaller, mesurable changes as needed.
All just IMHO

And you are probably still terrible under the new rules, even though that's pretty much impossible.
1. Bring Breakfrees
2. lol @ getting AS'd if you're a competent player going up against 90% of Stalkers in zones
3. Only time Widows were really OP'd was in I13 when Elusivity was really high, so again your argument fails
4. lol so wrong. "Low talent" players have a better chance of taking out the "skilled players" under the new rules than they ever did in the old ones. But that's why you like I13, isn't it?
Get wrecked.

Dear The_Reactor,
You seem very knowledgeable about I13/14 PvP. Perhaps you should write a guide for all 3 new zone PvPers and those "greater number" of PvEers who are farming for recipes in the Arena.
Thanks!
PS- I'm very disappointed that you still have not answered my previous question.

Make two instances of each PVP zone, one with pre I13, the other with I13. Then everybody is happy.
The devs like to data-mine, this would give them very accurate numbers as to which version of pvp is preferred by their players - but maybe they don't want to see the disparity in zone play this situation would create, and show them the truth of how horribly this new version of PVP has been received by their customers.
This would not be impossible to do, but my guess is the developers pride is in the way, and they don't want to admit they made a mistake with their pvp revamp. What a shame, because it is hurting the game at a time it can least afford negative changes.
bring old pvp back or I will make meow farms

No, skill is surviving or at least taking down a few of those 10 after they've jumped you. That doesn't really happen after I13. Previously, skill could at least partially make up for a numerical disadvantage. Now, not so much.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Exactly. For example, before, I could routinely jump into a group of 10 heroes on my stalker, get a kill, and then evade. Now I can do the same thing...but I have to phase to get away lol.
i have said it a million times make new zones for i12 pvp then people can have what they want dont like i12 go i13 zone dont like i13 go i12 that would definatly clear up a big mess real fast and for the love of god please make new pvp zones and better rewards
1 of the first questions you see in any new mmo being introduced is.
Will it have pvp?
all they give us in this game is Recipe's pvp io's lol big deal whats the point in the bonuses when you get 1% of the actuall bonus anyways
and reputation points and badges big deal its been like that since pvp was first released
if they actually did something really good in pvp in this game i would be 100% certain that the playerbase would grow insanly fast
they need a group of devs who focus on nothing but pvp
while another group deals with all the pve stuff
*COUGH* (Blizzard Entertainment) thats why wow is so huge cause they are always on top of everything.
its the devs that make a difference if you just give the people what they want they will love you for it i can see if its way out of line but damn listen to the players good idea's on these boards and think about it

Castle is probably looking into some way to mesh old and new PVP together. Taunt -range and a few of the other additions were VERY necessary, but DR and Travel Suppression need to go. The global resists are alright, as damage was scaled up to counter it.
[/ QUOTE ]
This pretty much hits my feelings about it. There were some things that were introduced that were imo beneficial to pvp.
- Negative range in taunts were a great addition and the subsequent damage decrease to their range abilities
- Elusivity was a step in the right direction. Not in its current form as its mostly useless, but maybe .2 as opposed to the .3 it was originally
- Phased players being able to attack other phased players
Mez protection -> resistance, DR, Heal Decay, global resists and damage boost I would roll back. With the good changes on top of the old system, PvP would be awesome.
raises hand
Issue-12 PVP Environment: It was well balanced because there were many ways that an AT can prove worthy besides killing. There were actually Emps boasting on their Emping skills such as buffing, debuffing and not alone, healing. Majority of players that were teamed requested Emp Defendenders, some even Tankers to hold or manage aggro, Scrappers coming to one rescue for his/her nature to best 1-on-1, or even Controller to hold off a villain team just in enough time while the defender gets off his/her team buffs.
Some PVPers or those who was inspired by PVP even went to extreme measures to get enhancements to better their abilities for PVP by hard-grinding PVE if neccessary.
Some players solo'd, some players teamed in the PVP environment, either way, the freedom to build the type of toon to do what ever he/she seen it fit was once there and these were the Key Elements that made it FUN and DESIRABLE.
The PVP environment in I-12 was a to-survive-and-win world, a world that offered many key-elements for success and satisfactory. A world that showed a blind-aura that "skill is needed here". It was a world that made champions out of noobs and winners out of beginners.
