Flight travel power is to slow
It has problems if it goes too fast, I don't remember the details exactly but there was a technical reason for it. And I think it's been increased already, actually (not just hover, but not recently.)
Plus there's a little bit of balance. You go slower, but you have complete 3d movement, can stop in midair out of range of most enemies (SJump you have to come down, after all, and SS can give problems on some maps.)
Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
There's no technical reason that flight couldn't go super speed speeds. Super speed is pushing the bounds of how fast the game can render things, but flight could go just as fast.
The balance reason is why it's slower than the other travel powers. If it was just as fast as super speed, but allowed you full 3d movement to the zone ceiling, why choose super speed?

Just read this, sign it, and stop your whining. I think Ultra Flight would be way better.
Each of the four travel powers has various advantages and disadvantages, when compared to each other.
The most apparent one is speed vs. control. Flight gives you the most control over where your character moves, so it has a slower speed to compensate.

The flight speed got buff but not the speed cap right? I Know that My lvl 50s are at the speed cap now, and before I14 they weren't.
I think fly is a lot better now and it should be just a little slow then SJ as it is now, becasue all you need to do is get it the air start moving to you mish and it auto fly and life is sweet
The biggest part for me is how much hover improved. I can MOVE now!
Not only has this suggestion merely just "come up before" but it has been suggested dozens of times for years now. The fact that it has not been "drastically increased" after all that should pretty much tell you it will NEVER happen.
Sure like you I can "wish" that Flight could be as fast as say Super Jump or Super Speed is. But it's quite clear it has the 'disadvantage' of being slower as a game balancing measure. As was pointed out before if Flight was as fast as Super Jump or Super Speed why would anyone ever take Super Jump or Super Speed?
I have used Fly on characters for years now.
I have accepted the pros and cons of it as a movement power for years now.
While it's always worthwhile to voice your opinion just be aware that your desire to see this power's speed "drastically" increased is a lost cause. The Devs have compromised and bumped its speed up a few MPH several times over the years already. That's as much as we're likely ever going to get.

This is indeed the case, Catwhoorg has 2 level 50 flight speed enhacners in fly and some (3 I think) Microfilaments in Swift (for boosting both the run and fly speed). Prior to I14 he was just (about 1 mph) shy of the speed cap, now he is capped and the fly speed is blue in the combat attributes.

I wish the cap would be raised quite a bit, and the starting speed raised along with it. Instead of 58 mph, I think it should be 65 or 70. When I drive to work in the morning, I can cruise along at a legal speed of 65mph. I really dislike the idea that in the gameworld, I'm rushing to a mission and traveling slower than when I commute to work.

Because they want a character who jumps or has super speed.
Just in the same way that someone who takes Fly on their melee AT does it because they wanted a flying super hero, despite being unfairly penalized with slowness without experienceing many or any of the advantages.
Making all the travels the same speed is just as unfair as the current situation, just for the opposite group. Penalizing someone for concept is penalizing someone for concept, regardless of which travel power/kind of AT is getting the short end.

Searching the forums.
Generally, do this:
1. Click on "Search" up at the top of the forum.
2. On the left, under "Forum(s) to search," select "Suggestions and ideas."
3. On the right, Keyword Search Terms. This is probably where your problem was if you did search. Try the following, exactly as typed:
+topic -"re: "
This will search for anything with the string "topic" in the title. The -re: portion of it removes replies, so you'll see the root of every thread that comes up, letting you see just how many threads there are on this. (The last helps for other subjects, as well.)
Be sure to put the space between the colon and last quote.
4. Click the "In subject" radio button. This is a search, not a cute blonde in a bikini. Here, you want to ignore the body.
5. Leave Username Search blank.
6. Date range, Newer Than, change the 1 to a 3, and the time to Months.
7. Result format doesn't matter. Click on "Submit."
Use the most common portion of the search. For instance, if you were looking for server consolidation topics, think about it a minute before you search. What else could it be called? Server merge, server combination, combine the servers - is anything in common? Yes, the precise string "server" (which will bring up server and serverS - it just matches the pattern of characters.)
Read through the replies. See what the original ideas were and how the conversation went. Does it match yours? Does it go *beyond* yours?
Do you actually have a different view, or something to add? Or is it pretty much the same, or answered in that thread?
If you get a recent post - go ahead and bring it back up if you have questions. If it's a couple of months back, and you don't think it's really addressed - link to it.
"I did a search and came across (link,) but I have a different take that might work better." (Or "I have a different take on it."
Linking gives a point of reference without necro-ing a thread that's potentially no longer relevant from being too old (while we have forum purges, threads with rednames don't get wiped.)

Until you factor in easily obtainable, renewable flight powers like Raptor Packs, the GvE Jump Pack, Shard Packs, etc.
Suddenly the Super Speeder is clearing obstacles with no problem at all, leaving the Flyer in the dust. A Super Speeder can easily obtain all the benefits of Fly and keep his speed.

My suggestion for the issue of travel powers is simple. Normalize their speeds. Each travel is as fast as the next. Then balance them with other benefits and perks that are roughly just as attractive if you're a melee or ranged AT.
Fly keeps it's intrinsic control.
Super Speed could get a ranged defense bonus or something appropriate.
Give Teleport a 10s phase after every port.
Jumpers get...whatever.
The point is, travel powers shouldn't favour something as simple as if you're ranged or melee based. Currently Fly penalizes melee ATs with slowness when they're really not in a position to take advantage of many or any of its benefits.
Concept as simple as how your character moves about shouldn't be punished because you choose the "wrong" AT/travel combo.

I'm not intrinsically opposed to the idea of semi-normalizing the speed caps, but that stuff above is really just hyperbole. Speaking as someone who has used both Flight and the temp powers extensively, Fly, when slotted, is much faster than an SSer using one of the temp packs.
And Fly offers plenty of utility for melee. About half of my Scrappers fly or are planned for flight. Conversely, my only Blaster dual builds with TP and SS, and my highest-level Defender uses SJ.
Odd that you feel it needs to be increased as it a) has been done repeatably and b) as the only ss on the team I frequent with, they often beat me to objectives. I will agree that part is due to the slotting that they use, as I typically only single slot my ss, but it does cause me to be annoyed by your arguement.
I would also like to point out that flight is really the ONLY usable power in the shard.
I use ss because I like the inherent stealth and because I don't like the drift that comes with fly. Fly has been shown to have a tremendous advantage for ranged characters in that they often can keep from melee due to the new lack of detoggling. My suggestion is if you really do not like the speed of it... use a different travel power.

Hey everyone. I'm not new to the game, but I'm new to the boards. I'm sure this suggestion has come up before. But since nothing has happened, I had to join the forum to make this suggestion that the speed of the flight power needs to be increased.
This has got to be one of if not the most of the travel powers and it's the slowest. This just doesn't make any since to me. Even super jump if faster. This is ridiculous. Most of my friends feel the same way, so we can't be alone. There has to be others out there that wishes this powers speed would be drasticly increased, and I mean without the use of special enhancements, just do it.
