MiA fun with freaks

Hah, well lets see if any Dev's decide to read this and tell me if I'm in the right, or the wrong. Until then it will stay unpublished, maybe even give me enough time to build a better storyline around it...maybe that will get the nay-sayers away.

Aww, when I can finally get ingame, it gets unpublished >.<

I hate to inform everyone, but I have gotten complaints about my mission, I have unpublished it, and probably will stay that way for awhile, hopefully the "Oh no! It can be farmed!" people have had their fill of trying to get rid of farms(which mine wasn't, or atleast wasn't meant to be) have stopped there self proclaimed savior status by complaining, thank them....

[/ QUOTE ]

What part can be farmed? The MA doesn't count your kills for kill badges so thats not it. If they say you are farming tickets then they'er wrong again because the best way is to complete story arc and mish so you can get a ticket bounes, So what were people saying you were farming with it?

[/ QUOTE ]Ditto this. What the heck can you farm in a regular MArch mission/arc? Tickets? The darn things fall like rain in EVERY mission.

Send an inquiry, get a ruling on it not being a farm, put "NOT A FARM, IT'S FOR THE CHALLENGE!" or something like that.

I was actually beginning to think about tackling this myself. I'm not a badass scrapper like you nut jobs (I mean that in a complimentary sense!), but it's still be fun to see how many seconds I can last.

I'm guessing it's due to the fear of powerlevelers more than actual farmers. Often folks seem to use those terms interchangeably.

Just roll a toon in Atlas, walk across the street, get SK'd by whoever and get leveled. No anchors needed.

It was seriously hard solo, and even harder on an 8-man team yesterday. We had about 2 full team wipes in the last room. That's not a farm. You should put it back and point to this thread as evidence.

Even then, you'd be better off with a mission that strung the bosses out rather than cramming them all into a single death room. Well, unless you had a seriously hard core team set up that could tear them apart without absolutely destroying the squishies. Even then, I'd say you'd want no more than the aggro cap in bosses being taunted by a tank, then a bunch of AoE blasters to tear them apart in seconds. Rinse and repeat for as much as you can in the mission. Give it a lowish rating and a generic name and description so that nobody ever finds it.

Thing is, I'd enjoy a mission like that. That sounds like a fun challenge for, say, the trio of tank and two fire blasters that I was part of that burned from 1 to 50. Just because it looks like a farm or a powerleveling map doesn't mean that's the intent.

I'm probably on the wrong forum to find out, and it may be way too early in I14 to know, but I'm really curious to know where the devs are going to draw the line on this kind of thing. I'd hate to see our fun destroyed by farming worries.

I agree. If you like a mission, you should leave it up until they take it down themselves. Who cares if people complain about it. Put fair warning in the description... or don't if you don't want to... it doesn't matter.

Granted, if you're going after some sort of regonition for your work, this probably isn't the way to do it. But we here at the scrapper forum will be 5-starring anything that gets our bloodpressure up.

I have found two missions that yield both far more experience and tickets. They are real farms, and not really fun at all. This one is profitable for sure, but hella fun while doing it. If I wanted to farm tickets for tickets sake, this would not be the one I would choose.

And that was what I really meant with my earlier comment. Yeah, getting inf and xp and all that is nice, but playing purely for the purpose of getting them gets old really fast. Getting them through content like this that is fun in its own right; that's the kind of thing that keeps me playing this game.

I went looking for this Arc... alas it was taken down before I could try it out.

Found a "badge farming" mission today, good for kill custom characters clicking on glowies, destroy, and rescues... that won't be taken down even though the names of your enemies are "This" and "That"

This was the first MA mission I ran solo. Seeing it on BMT of Champion and Champion MA global channels I gave it a run. With the mission description signifying a Defeat All, I was surprised that at the end of the map with the lovely room full of freaky tanks, one shot could end the mission. Sprinting thru on my 50 blapper HARDKORE Mk. 0 on the lowly Heroic setting, the placed groups fell under the radiant blueberry barrages. He reached the final room and looked for the boss, after acquiring the target the boss was one-shotted with a BU+Aim Snipe shot. Enter the mission complete music and the magical Exit button appeared. This was before the whambush of freaks appeared. With a swift blaster backpedal and a timely FoN the ambushes went down. For the sheer "bendover" factor of the mission I rated it a 3 for lack of depth and detail. It is no longer listed but for a lack of squishy blapper faceplanting I was amazed that 700 skee ball tickets were in my salvage. Quick, dirty, and fun, but it was made for John Boys.

I don't know what "John Boys" means.

It probably would have been better if it were REALLY a kill all like the title of the mission indicated. If you really can just go in, wipe out the main boss, and exit with 700 tickets, then I can see how it could be farmed.

OK, this IS awesome fun. Tried it out with Sergei on invincible. I saw the room of tanks, and thought I couldn't be happier. Then I dove in, and the biggest ambush ever ran in to liven things up. I was wrong. I COULD be happier. I tore things up for about 15 minutes, grinning from ear to ear in pure scrapper BLISS, then poof, dead. I was slightly injured already, then two of the tanks hit me for 782 points each at the same time.

Ran back in, probably made it another five minutes. This time, they just wore me down. They burned me out of greens and oranges, and my health headed down. When it got into the scaling resistance territory, they had a hard time finishing me off, but they eventually did.

Heh, faster each time. Only lasted a couple minutes on the third try.

Couple more minutes. Do these tanks ever end?

Fifteen seconds. Seriously?

And then another fifteen minute stretch, and the room was finally clear. Boy, I was sick of tanks by the time it was done. And I think that makes it perfect.

I did this on diff 1 just fine with my DB/WP. So I went back and tried on diff 5 similar thing, I was fine with insps but it ground me down until I ran out of purples. I got half the room but pruple freak tanks take a lot longer then orange ones.

You have to destroy two objects, one of which is in the freak tank room. As well as kill the red fire using boss in the freak tank room.

But how could you resists having 17 tanks going after you???

well... I do believe I found it!
I found this delightful little Arc with nothing but Tanks and in the last room shaped [as far as I can tell] correctly.
Attacking the three tanks in the last room sets off an ambush which has a bunch of Tanks in it... after killing all these Tanks a spawn forms with a bunch of Tanks attacking each other... much to my horror...

Stealing my tickets!!!

I finished and died twice, had to use insps though.

The Arc was called: Little Challenge
or something like that.
I found it with keyword search: Challenge

I was away one month or two from CoH and everything seems to have changed now. I'm sad I couldnt try this Freaks arc, because it looks like everything I hoped from the MA and could bring me right into the game (and I didnt find the Little Challenge either Ozmeth).

Well, anyway this is my question. I tried to play a bit with the MA or launched a few MA missions from other players, but the result was always the same : pretty empty maps solo (even on 4th difficulty). Nothing my Spine/Invuln can really have fun on.

What is the key to build such a mission than this Freaks orgy mentionned in the thread ? It seems the MA limits the number of mobs per spawn as it's always been. I'm a bit tired to ask for fillers to enjoy some AoE carnage and fun, to test out my builds... any tip ?

Disclaimer : I dont care about xp, i dont care about inf, i dont care about tickets or whatever, so not even talking about farming... I'm just looking for fun. If I could build such a mission I would be happy to do it and redo it even just on "test mode".

Im had the mission ending early on a couple times I ran it. That did not stop me from killing every last boss, since that was the reason I was there.

On an unrelated note, Im suprised they did not include something in Architect so that you could simply dissable exp or tickets from the missions, thus eliminating the issue for those wanting to build challenging missions for the pure challenge of it.

Ya know, thats a really good idea. You should PM this idea to a Dev if someone else hasnt already.

If you have the time check out my Mosh Pit. I don't remember my arc ID but its up. 3 mission Arc, the first 2 are short and sweet to set the story a little but the final mission is epic.

Bill Z loved it before I took it down the first time. I've added the 2 small missions so it wouldn't be confused for a farm.

There are 2 version up now. The story version posted by me and the original which I sent to Iron Tiger. Check out both and have fun.

Dont go in this mish with a squishy, or without lots of wakies and an appreciation for faceplanting, or some combination thereof.

I loved it. Literal tons of smashy to be had, and freaks lining up for blocks to get their ration from me and my trolls.

As for the risk\reward ratio? Well, theres no way this can be confused for a meow mission, ever.

We made an outdoor version to allow some vertical for those suffering from claustrophobia. Same premise, same carnage, same fun.

Good job JD, and I will shamelessly confess I stole the concept from you for mine. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery etc etc...

I have a question about this - and this is completely serious.

I ran into several missions last night that I would classify as "farming" maps. And there was no doubt about the fact that they were made for farming. Playing through those, I learned about some very interesting techniques to get the spawn counts up to the highest possible.

My first reaction to this was: "Well this is a BS farming map. This won't stay on the server long." Because I know the Devs want to avoid having players exploit the MA system for farming & power-leveling.

But then I thought, "Well....what if you just really want to fight alot of guys at once when you solo?"

This is especially going to be a problem for Scrappers & Brutes - the two AT's that probably get the biggest amount of jollies from soloing.

It makes me wonder where the devs are going to draw the line, and how they plan to continue to regulate the system against exploits without completely ruining the functionality of the system.

If I had to guess...I'm going to say that very soon, they're going to implement a nerf that completely neuters the system - and then dial up the performance from there. What do you think?

[/ QUOTE ]

ther'es nothing wrong with making a farming map. people are confused in this.

what was wrong was using mobs that gave twice the xp of a boss but had minion level hp/resists/regen. ie - knowlingly useing broken mobs

i have a farming map with all super arachnoid bosses. you ever fought 5 super arachnoid bosses at a time with a set without substantial slow and toxic resists and some way to root them? i love that kind of challenge, and i love the bonus xp they give. which they should - they have near av levels of regen
