Myth Breaker: Drops from HOF arcs.
Woah, I never knew this.
Devs, is this working as intended?
It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Nope. Only actual rewards (enhancements, recipes, etc.) are for Dev's Choice.
The only way that a HoF arc can get real rewards is if it's also a Dev's Choice, which I'm not sure if having both on one arc is still possible.
pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats
Arachnos Commander: actually, I am
pohsyb: I mean you kinda were one already anyways ^_^

They've said you can, but the Dev's sticker will override the HOF one.
"I think you're confused. This is /b, not /b/."
I'm laughing and crying on the inside that devs choice is superior to the will of the players (HoF). I noticed that HoF wasn't on the front page either.
I do hope this is changed.
Seems like there needs to be a middle step that transitions HoF to actual awards like "Sanctioned" rather than Dev Choice. That way they've reviewed that it isn't abuseable.
Honestly, I prefer tickets to random loot. It gives a measure of control over the rewards that you don't get with ordinary missions.
Yeah, if they could quickly poke about in the missions (or possibly just in the misison definitions) and deterime that the arc didn't get HOFed because people found it gameable, or whatever, and thus upgrade it to a "two-star" HOF that gave drops, maybe.
But, honestly, I would be more than fine with that not happeneing. I want my tickets .
BTW, has anyone determined if HOFs get autolocked like Dev's Choice? I wouldn't like that, since you don't get asked if you want it to happen ....

Yep.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
I want this changed, so that the next farming exploit to come around with massively easy custom critters can be voted up quickly and suddenly start dropping honest to goodness rewards -- especially those juicy L50 minions which have a chance to drop purples. YEAH!
In other words... sorry, working as intended. Dev's Choice is also set up that way so that they can only DC missions they feel offer adequate risk vs. reward and thus are safe to attach normal drops to. That's directly from their interviews during I14's introduction announcements.

Probably get flamed for this but it really seems like HoF is just the poor mans DC. The off-beat cheap brand if you will.
The "store bought brand" to DC's "name brand". At the very least i'd prefer if HoF came before DC on the arc list search.
Just one players thought.
So it seems. HoF does not drop regular loot.

There is the downside that you can't generate purples, but yeah, other than that, tickets are better if you use them intelligently. My only concern is that people won't use them intelligently, or possibly at all, and it'll turn out to be enough rope to hang yourself.

I've seen a lot people claiming that you you get the same "real" rewards from this kind of misison as from a Dev's Choice arc; I thought I read differently back in the early days of open beta, so I thought I'd just go test it rather than try to figure out who said what when in the dev logs .

That's what I thought as well, but it turns out I remembered wrong (this is directly from the I14 FAQ):

5. Can you talk more about Dev Choice vs. Hall of Fame?
[*] The Hall of Fame is where the best player rated content goes. To get to this rank you need to have over a 1000 votes with an average of 5 stars (we round up). Getting into the Hall of Fame changes your standing in the mission browser, moving it further up the queue.
[*] Becoming a Dev Choice story happens when one of us (the developers) sees content that we feel best represents what Architect can be, good story and fun gameplay. Getting into Dev Choice actually elevates you beyond Hall of Fame and gives your mission the same sort of rewards and drops you would get outside of Architect. The only difference being that you get a ticket bonus at the end of a mission as opposed to an experience bonus.
[*] We also have a third tier of stories which we will talk about at a later date.

See this is where people that have not done the testing I have kinda make me laugh. Yeah, if you don't know what you are doing with merits, tickets etc.. you can lose out, but if you do you can make out BIGTIME.
I have a ton of purples in my SG bins and enough cash to drop two full sets on the two toons that will need them at 50. I really have no problem getting purples at all. YMMV.

It's not you or I that I'm worried about, really. It's the impact on the market of lots of naive decisions made across thousands of players. The markets were hit hard enough by merits as it is, I'd rather not see them dry up completely.

OH LOL. The markets will be better off this time around trust me.

I'll really only use tickets to buy unlockable content (which if it's the same ratio of ticket drop on live, then i can earn everything in like a day.) After that i'll probably just do random bronze rolls. I don't really use IO's, and 4k for the gold roll seems overpriced.
I never thought this about HoF arcs. How did that rumour get started anyway? I have never heard anyone connected to the game even hint that HoF arcs would have normal drops like Dev's Choice arcs. It's amazing how these things take hold.

Not too surprising, that said, will be interesting to see if that means that missions that break some of the difficult expectations for badge rewards won't be eligible for DC. Y'know, to maintain that intergity.

I don't think this'll be a problem as people will realize very quickly that the Dev choice missions are the ones to run for loot. I wonder what would happen if the devs found out that the majority of people were only running DC arcs simply due to loot issues.

Here's a screenshot with a chunk of the rewards log. (Don't mind the funky transparancy glitch, that's something that happens to me if I alt-tab before the zone-specific loading screen comes up during initial character load.)

Check out one of my most recent arcs:
457506 - A Very Special Episode - An abandoned TV, a missing kid's TV show host and more
416951 - The Ms. Manners Task Force - More wacky villains, Wannabes. things in poor taste
or one of my other arcs including two 2010 Player's Choice Winners and an2009 Official AE Awards Nominee for Best Original Story
So, does the HoF actually free up a slot then? Or not that either?
So we have a Hall of Fame arc on test again.

The mission is "Trademark Infringement" by (@)Wrong Number. It's a one mission arc -- four, maybe five small office floors with managable enemies (though I died to multiple multi-controllers a few times; I'm level seven on this brute, go fig ) -- so not too hard to fully test.
I cleared the map, or came close to it. I did not receive any enhancments, salvage, recipies, merits, or what-have-you from this arc. Just tickets, and a few insps. This includes the mission bonus and anything that could have theoretically been gained from completeing the arc.
