Yep, we're seeing this tool. Figured they're probably still tracking the numbers.
If it's still AS bad, I wonder if the right version of someone's code didn't get checked out into the right place for buildage or something ^_^. -
I was off stabbing a blender exporeter and Writer_Tina told me about this and I said: "Dude!"
Dude.
Who's gonna ninja-spam the Comminity Digest now!?
Your spot's starting to feel kinda like the Defense Against the Dark Arts thing ....

Wait, an arc can lose HOF status due to voting? What happens to the player's publishing slots then? What if they filled their three normal ones as soon as the fourth hit HOF? O_O
N/M, I just went and read the other thread.
Though I swear the other thread had in it posts that were in this thread.
I'm pretty confused and can only assume that i've been trying too hard to block out some people's insipid whining. ^_^ -
Can you even give _minions_ status protection? 'Cause the fact that they are minions also limits their power choices; I think some still don't gain anything for increased power setting.
I'll probably log in in a bit tonight; have to take a look at this if I do, haven't looked at -- ye mob creator in much detail since they went over to per-set settings. -
They could do a /cointoss and have the coin icon suggest a zero? *shrug*
-
Last time I rated something a zero it says "Rating?" in the "you voted" field; I'm not yet convinced it counts that kind of vote.
-

The problem as has been said.
Is any rating under a 5 means it will never see the light of day again.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thousands of ratings placed on three star arcs to date is busy proving you wrong as we speak.
Sure, you can probably find some counterexample, but I can find pages full of three star arcs where the minimum plays is ten and the median is something like 50. -
Oh, select stuff and right click on it to change text styles; just right click to insert parser tokens. It'll put whatever code in your text and can tweak it afterwards

Unicorns are not trademarks.
Er, copyrights are not trademarks.
Also, if you made, say, unicorn beer, you could trademark unicorn for the selling of beer, or possibly all beverages.
Akuma is a Capcom character from the street fighter series, probably trademarked. -
You mean, aside from typing, selecting, cut and paste and delete?
-
I WAS working on one, but haven't gotten too far.
I using customs, but they were included as alternates of a normal group so most of the time you'd have one custom per two or three regular enemies, and I tried to make them low-powered. Didn't seem too bad, but I had only tested it on a low level brute so far.
I had one map that was all custom in there too, but they were only allowed to have minions and one boss, and were melee with no status protection so anyone who had ANY status available could keep them at bay. -

As far as bosses downgrading to lt's even on teams... that's definitely happening. It looks like MA arcs only take into consideration the difficulty setting of the leader and ignores team sizes when deciding whether to spawn the boss as a boss or a lt. This is unlike "normal" missions, where you'll get bosses with a big enough team size despite what difficulty setting you're running the mission on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hm, we appear to be having drop issues on teams, xp issues on teams, and scaling issues on teams. I wonder if these are all related to the same segment of code that's screwed up. -
[ QUOTE ]
The problem is the system doesnt allow you to dig through the thousands and thousands of arcs easily
This makes it so finding anything other than 5 stars is an excercise in futility.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pick one or several star ratings you want to examine, or unrated, plus your choice of alignment and length. Sort by whatever you like. Hit the page buttons to get out into the middle of things and start poking around physically randomly like running your hand along a bookcase.
It's not handed to you on a platter, it's not even ideal, but it's not really hard, either. -
I don't think that limiting it to one per person in the transfer from beta means one per person forever. I just think it means that they wanted to make some hard cuts and be really strict in the transfer, possibly so as to avoid this:
<font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre>WHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

For FIFTEEN THOUSAND POSTS filling the rest of the boards because fourty people wouldn't shut up after seeing two or three authors with two or three DCs get transfered. -
Put the number in the search box and hit enter? Don't use the #, afaik.
If that dosen't work, make sure the rest of the fields are blank and you aren't hiding played/rated arcs? -
[ QUOTE ]
I only ask because my first story arc (4336) received a 1 star rating (and no comment) after the first play, but is now up to 4 stars.
[/ QUOTE ]
And so many people said this was impossible ....
[ QUOTE ]
Of course there are other reasons for giving it 1 star, maybe they just don't like Sky Raiders. But the lack of comment made me suspicious. I'm guessing that the whole rating system has been heavily discussed including the potential for forming griefing alliances etc. Yet another form of PvP added to the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
They might have not had much to say.
They might have feared retributory ratings.
They might have feared confrontation period.
I usually only leave feedback if I see something that has enough going for it already that it could be improved; if I was rating it a one it would be because I thought that the author had no interest in improving thier work. Or expressed that they were a jerkface in the content itself. -
I saw it mentioned once in the test forums.
You'd only see Scourge if there's some Corruptor set that Blaster's don't get, like how you only see Hide in Ninjitsu.
Sorting the powersets into what they really are (Ranged, Melee, Control) instead of duplicating them under each AT name they came from would be great too, others have suggested this.
I hope they pull out this kind of stuff (Overpower, too), and optionally give us a selector for if we want to give our mobs a player-like inherent -- for the ones that can be made to work, anyhow (domination might need to just be a "use at 1/3 health" click, f/e).
As it stands, I think if you give someone both a control set and a blast set, they'd be able to use both defiance and overpower (not sure if containment damage boost is in there too). -
I did notice the version number change when I downloaded the live patch this morning. I wonder if that fixed any of these.

- HoF does lock the arc from being edited.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ook. Yeah, I don't like that. At least Dev's Choice gives you warning. And has more theoretical reason ("We want to preserve the versoin we saw."). The only reason remaining for this is ("We expect some of our players to achieve HOF and then try to pull a stupid stunt on the arc and screw with people who play what they think is a renowned quality arc.").
Grace period, at least? -
Yeah, if they could quickly poke about in the missions (or possibly just in the misison definitions) and deterime that the arc didn't get HOFed because people found it gameable, or whatever, and thus upgrade it to a "two-star" HOF that gave drops, maybe.
But, honestly, I would be more than fine with that not happeneing. I want my tickets.
BTW, has anyone determined if HOFs get autolocked like Dev's Choice? I wouldn't like that, since you don't get asked if you want it to happen .... -
[ QUOTE ]
The only way that a HoF arc can get real rewards is if it's also a Dev's Choice, which I'm not sure if having both on one arc is still possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
They've said you can, but the Dev's sticker will override the HOF one. -
So we have a Hall of Fame arc on test again.
I've seen a lot people claiming that you you get the same "real" rewards from this kind of misison as from a Dev's Choice arc; I thought I read differently back in the early days of open beta, so I thought I'd just go test it rather than try to figure out who said what when in the dev logs.
The mission is "Trademark Infringement" by (@)Wrong Number. It's a one mission arc -- four, maybe five small office floors with managable enemies (though I died to multiple multi-controllers a few times; I'm level seven on this brute, go fig) -- so not too hard to fully test.
I cleared the map, or came close to it. I did not receive any enhancments, salvage, recipies, merits, or what-have-you from this arc. Just tickets, and a few insps. This includes the mission bonus and anything that could have theoretically been gained from completeing the arc.
Here's a screenshot with a chunk of the rewards log. (Don't mind the funky transparancy glitch, that's something that happens to me if I alt-tab before the zone-specific loading screen comes up during initial character load.)

(Imageshack DIRECT link, no stupidity. 1920x1200, 700ishK, contains smashing and snowflakes.
If anyone would like to examine the full rewards log from this arc, I've got it on hand, logon to rating. -
The stuff I knew about that caused this was:
Hidden Level Range Invalid errors (Like, the one for having COT inside a mission with anything else, which was fixed itself I think).
Text overflow caused by HTML the user didn't enter themselves.
HTML errors caused by newlines in critter descriptions.
... I swear I had another one but I can't remember it at the moment.
But I haven't been active on test in a while so I haven't been rechecking all this stuff -- why I didn't mention specifics at first.
-
I haven't had the oomph to test much lately. Are we still getting errors that don't show up in the real-time checker but prevent you from playing the arcs anyway? I'd mark that inconsistancy in the interface as a glitch in itself, apt to confuse and frustrate people.

I think he left the "TAR" off the end of 'avatar' ....
