Arc Name: Those Who Help Others
Arc ID: 211494
Faction: Heroic
Your global/forum name: @Anthem
Difficulty Level: Medium
Recommended Team Size: Any
Typical duration: About 20 mins
Arc Synopsis: What is "good" or "evil"? When lives hang in the balance, does the end justify the means? Would you sacrifice the lives of a few to save the lives of many? Our story begins with an attack on a mysterious research facility....
My first attempt at an actual arc. This mission is chapter one and I'll be adding more and more until the conclusion.
Enjoy!
Arc Name: Desecration
Arc ID: 211441
Faction: Midnight Squad, Custom Group
Global/forum name: cfischer999
Difficulty Level: Moderate, Fun boss/EB at the end.
Recommended Team Size: Any combat capable size or mix. This is soloable, at least at low levels of difficulty.
Typical duration: 1 hour
Arc Synopsis: Keep a corrupt Midnighter out of the Hell she so richly deserves. Very villainous content. Four missions. There are places where stealth helps but it wont solve all the problems. Added a custom group to off-set some of the wimpiness of Midnighters at the top end of their level range or at low difficulty settings.
"Relocate their remains and you pave my path to glory. And don't get caught. They seldom hang grave-robbers anymore, but we're on a tight schedule."
Current MA Arcs:

Hey, part time Freedom player (full time Champion player). I have the first part of my ninja trilogy up...
The Gathering Storm
272394
Faction: Custom
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Lascota
Difficulty Level: Hard
Synopsis: Through a simulation, discover how a team of heroes nearly gave a foothold to an unbelievably dangerous ninja clan.
Personal Note: First arc, part of a trilogy I've been writing awhile. Hope it entertains. This is meant for just the heroes, and it's roughest in the middle.
Estimated Time to Play: We ran it tonight; while some of the missions run a bit long, I've pared them down a touch-- as well as one of the nastier ambushes that crushed my team.
Reflections of Your Desire
Arc #315097
Morality: Neutral
Faction: Reflections (duh), Soldiers of Rularuu, Circle of Thorns, a couple spoilerish cameos, a batch of custom EBs
Your global/forum name: @Electric Eddie
Difficulty Level: It's soloable on heroic/villainous (the EBs get downgraded), but you may need a higher level character
Recommended Team Size: For the story, go solo. If you want to see what the EBs are capable of, a small group of threeish on Tenacious/Malicious or Rugged/Vicious works. Large groups kinda ruin the feel (and hilariously enough, actually make it a bit harder).
Typical duration: 30 minutes to an hour (4 missions)
Arc Synopsis: The Reflections are starting to do things... odd things. This takes place entirely in the Shadow Shard, ending in the bizarre Garden of Memories.
Link to a more info/comments thread: Looking for feedback (#315097: Reflections of Your Desire)
Miscellaneous Notes: This is a story-driven arc. The final boss in the first mission says 'Hero', but it's closer to a boss. If you have trouble hitting the obelisks at the beginning of mission 3, give it a few seconds; they'll always become hittable.
"Go. Fight."
MA Arc #315097: Reflections of Your Desire (custom characters, canon related, drama, story-driven arc): The Reflections are starting to do things... odd things. This takes place entirely in the Shadow Shard, ending in the bizarre Garden of Memories.
Day Job Hell: A Villain's First Day Job
Arc ID#: 322480
Length: Long
Morality: Villainous
Enemy Groups: ClockWork, Tuatha de Dannan, "re-purposed" standard foes (colors+name changed)
Description: "Rise from the Mercy sewers and become a true villain. Lowbie villain arc, lvls 1-10. Guaranteed snake free! Custom groups='re-purposed' standards. Single added Boss spawns as a Lt. on Difficulty setting 1. LBMA, SFMA [not yet spellchecked]"
Take your villain from zero to hero! Wait, that didn't come out right... but you get the idea. Your new villain needs a place to start and getting a couple of dayjob badges seems as good as anything, but the only place that will have you is the Mercy Island Sewer Works, run by a man known as Fats Squalor. Learn to hate your job, your "friends" and to turn that burning rage into what it takes to become a true villain. This one's a bit more serious than my two previous (see sig) but it does have some touches of humor. I've tried to keep all the text visible for teams as well.
I've tested it with a few level 1 squishes (without using any vet powers) and they all did ok on difficulty setting 1. Good for a few levels if you're 1 or 2; if not, it's still fun and has no snakes!
After the better part of 6 months of off and on work, I finally finished my third Arc (and the first of what was suppose to be a series of related arcs. Who knows if I'll do the others now)

Middling difficulty. Estimated Time to Play: 1-2 Hours Synopsis: Where fire burns cold; blood bears unforgiven debt; and a wounded heart cries for justice. - This Family-centric, story-driven hero arc is optimally designed for Security Levels 30-40, and is team-sizing friendly. NOTE: This arc is in live testing, but is otherwise polished for public consumption. Critiques encouraged! HEAVY READING INVOLVED! |
This is my Freedom advertisement post for my submission for Dr. Aeon's Architect Challenge for December 2009. The theme, "doing evil for a greater good." My arc was, of course, immediately disqualified because I made it a choice at the very end. Oh well!
I'm always looking for feedback in, you guessed it, my feedback thread, found here! If you star the arc, please give me some info as to why you rated it as such. I'm NOT a one-star rage vendetta stalker, so if you genuinely didn't like the story or mechanics, please tell me why. On the other hand, I love high ranks, if it's deserved.
I'm happy to discuss the story points, mechanics, etc., in this thread. So, beyond this first post, please throw SPOILER warnings before you ask, and I'll do the same for my answers!
I hope you like my published offering. It was written as a one-shot, but I left the ending "open" to the possibility of a sequel if people would like more of this storyline/dramatis personae. Please review my arc, enjoy, and tell me what you think.
Architect is one of the most flexible tools for online storywriting I've ever seen. My continued thanks to the Devs for making this system possible; to the players for inspiring the authors to write for the general populace; and to my fellow authors for writing saga after saga for the noblest reason of all: To enliven the imagination.

Turg Fiction: Ghost in the Machine Acts III & IV coming 2012!
Turg Fiction: IX is now LIVE on Architect Entertainment!
Welcome, Freedomites and server guests alike!
On April 8th, NCNorCal will be releasing 'Issue 14: Architect' to the general public. This is the first time the PLAYERS get to tell the stories WITHIN the City of Heroes gaming format itself! Freedomites know each other; we hang with each other; we rumble with each other; and yeah, we get into some really awesome flame wars with each other. At the end of the day, we're all about "us". But when it comes to Architect... having to dig our arcs out amongst the thousands of My Deep And Tragic QQ Life Story arcs from all the other servers is going to add a lot of confusion, when all we wanna do is find out what our local peeps are up to in Architect. TO THAT END: I propose a Freedom-focused "Comix Rack", where any of our local authors can post their published mission arcs, once Issue 14 hits! (This is meant for 'Live' server arcs only, as the Arc IDs won't match between Test and Live!) 1. So, how should I advertise my arc? Simple! Follow the basic format below! [ QUOTE ] Arc Name: Arc ID: Faction: Your global/forum name: Difficulty Level: Recommended Team Size: Typical duration: Arc Synopsis: Link to a more info/comments thread: [/ QUOTE ] 2. Should I comment here if I liked a mission arc? Preferably, no. Please keep this thread for announcements instead of commentaries. You can follow the mission author's "link to more info/comments" and express your opinions there, to keep everything in one place! (A good place for a feedback thread is in 'Stories & Lore' - see below.) 3. Where can I get more info about the Architect system? Good question. Have you been keeping up with the news? Try any of these links for background info: The Mission Architect FAQ - The official CoX "Frequently Asked Questions" posting for Architect. Mission Architect: Stories and Lore - The sub-forum dedicated to servers-wide discussions on arcs, background, mechanics, etc. Great place for feedback threads for your personal arcs! ParagonWiki's 'Mission Architect' - When in doubt, check a wiki. A CoX-community Wiki clearing house of all things spandex! ... Why are you still reading this? Pick up a Freedom Comic, kick back, and have fun! (Thanks to Ex Libris for the general formatting, and ElectroHawk from Champion server for the inspiration!) |
I'd like to get both a Hero and Villain take on this mission.
Thanks!
