Sync Issues?
You're taking the dev's lack of response personally. Bad idea, cos it's just making you all stressed.
See... they don't take you personally. You're a number on a balance sheet.
The only time the devs will scramble to fix a bug is A) if it totally breaks gameplay, B) provides an exploit for either griefing or cheap rewards, or C) shows up during a high-level executive demo.
Since the sync bug isn't QUITE to the game-breaking level as A, and no one's using it for their own gain like B, you'll have to hope that the exec demo of I14 gets tagged with it.
Me, jaded? No. I just know how corporations work. As long as it doesn't hit the shareholder balance sheet or the industry press, it's Not That Big A Deal. And this isn't the only company or industry that works this way.

I'm not a number. I am a free man.
I'm not so much as expecting a personal response as a final fix to this issue that has been going on for almost a year.
Yeah, I do feel like I'm being ignored, but that is different than expecting a personal response.

Almost a year of this bug, they would hardly be scrambling to have fixed it by now.

The huge hole in Port Oakes was less of a game breaker than the OOS/door bug/Zoning bug ...whatever they want to call it. I wouldn't have to see the hole in Port Oakes every time I zoned and only people in Port Oakes would have to deal with it...and since it was so huge it could have been easily avoided.
You can't avoid this bug. You can go to another zone to get away form it.
You have to deal with it all the time when you characters gets infected by it. Every time you zone you might get yanked back by that invisible chain, sometimes you might not..and you can't tell until that leash around your neck grabs you and yanks you back..and then it might just be a rubber banding episode until you test that chain again and get yanked back another time.
It might not be a game breaker to them, but it is getting to be a game breaker to me.
I can almost guarantee that people have quit because of it. I'm coming close to that point now.

It is hard to judge if oneself is jaded or not. If you are, you are, of course, too jaded to tell if you are or not.

Yeah. I know about THE MAN. I know about big corporations. I don't live in a bubble or in Atlantis.
I also know that when I was growing up it was "the customer is always right". Now it is "Smile while you rip the customer off". I'm kind of tired of it.
I guess I'm kind of justice minded. That's why I'm playing a superhero game and not something else.
You would expect that they would have done some research on their customer base, but based on Champions Online -- I can tell that some corporations are completely clueless.

I appreciate your reply, but really telling me that my input is lost in the masses, I'm only a number, and the DEVs are only going to do something if they think it will cause them loose income really means that I have no reason to reply to you, post any more about any problems, or even probably play this game any more.
And that's to bad, because I really do love this game, the players that play it are great, and the DEVs really seem like they want to make this a great superhero game.
Something so obviously imersion breaking as this bug....
yeah...why comment...It's just dust in the wind. I'm worthless. The game is pointless. I'm just a number that will be forgotten when I'm gone. Only the $15/month might be missed by someone, but that too is so minor in the grand scheme....

Hi Everyone,
We are still seeing a few reports of players becoming out of sync (ghost maps, the door bug, out of body experience) with the servers.
Please post here if you are still having problems.

yes, like crazy. every character across 2 accounts. everytime i zone in and out of every map and misison. sometimes it's so bad that i have to type /sync 3-4 times before i can get 10' away from the door/entrance. might i also add that it is terribly, incredibly, awefully and incestantly annoying. did i happen to mention that it's ANNOYING too. and oh, by the way, it's REALLY, REALLY ANNOYING!!! i'm not trying to be a turd here, but i'm kinda annoyed by this bug, just a lil' bit , annoyed...... by this annoying bug.
and it's been getting increasingly worse since the launch of issue "annoying bugs galore" 13. i appreciate all the work and dedication you wonderful and doting developers have given me these 2 glorious years, but COME ON MAN! can we please, please, please, please, please, please, please take just one issue and fix all the current bugs that have been plaguing your dedicated and paying custumers? especially before you introduce another whole system into our world with all the accompanying and wonderfully annoying bugs that it's going to have. please?
sincerly,
just another $30.00 a month.
The validity of your statment does not increase in direct proportion with the frequency and volume at which you speak it.
I still get this issue, although not as much as when it first hit me.
Only about 3 of my toons suffer now from it, But ALL my toons have /sync bound to a key for that occurance that appear now and then. It normally happens on a mission or zone load.
Cat: "Better to live 5 secs as a tiger then a lifetime as a worm"
Rimmer: "Arrh but who ever heard of a worm skin rug"
"Anyway I attack Nemesis" - Blue Crow
"What alone?" - Toon
"No No, I had my katana with me."

I never knew about the sync command before tonight. I have had to use is 4 times. relogging did not fix the issue, no amount of time would fix the issue. In one case I kept going back to the start of the mission over and over and over.... and there were no mobs in it until I did a sync. In another case I kept falling over and over and... well you get the idea. the server is NOT auto syncing, I had this go on for minutes until support told me about sync so I could do the mission. I also see the black market causes the game to crash tonight if you try to buy salvage. I'd say there are some issues and everything needs some bug fixes and reboots!
Haven't played in a while. I'm getting this issue during evening hours. When the server population is high.
today everyone gets mapserver..at least on Freedom in Grandville...
Greetings,
I wanted to check back in with everyone to see if you have noticed any changes. We put in a partial fix a while ago specifically, the game should automatically 'sync' after 10 seconds of being out of sync.
If you are still having sync issues please post here and let us know what you are experiencing.
Thanks!

"Your request to resurrect in a hospital was denied because you are not dead"
Yeah, that pretty much covers it. :P
....
First?
Maybe you were just mostly dead?
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
But isnt that mostly alive as well?
Now we aren't ready quite yet to let the catgirls out of the bag.... (quote from ex libris)
Entered a MA mission and just got a completely blank area, nothing in sight in all directions. Fortuantely I have all the teleports so I ported myself to base then back down and reentered. That worked.
Only happened once though I thought it was just a glitch at the time.
----------------------------
You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.
I still experience sync issues regularly. It is still limited to only one specific character. I would estimate this happens greater than 50% of every time I load into the game or enter a new zone.
The partial fix works. I never stay out of sync more than 10 seconds. It's still slightly annoying, but nowhere near as frustrating as when this issue first presented itself.

The character that always desynced on each zoning still does so. The partial fix means no action is required on my part (to click my /Sync macro). However, I'm still stuck at a door every time I zone for at least ten seconds. This is obnoxious.
The problem still only affects that one character (my Main) and none of my others.
If a "complete" fix is in the works, that would be greatly appreciated.
lasts much longer than 10 seconds. /sync doesn't seem to help and autosync either never happens or doesn't help when it does. i don't rubberband myself, only everything else on the screen does. baddies, mission objectives, teammates. everything goes bouncing all over the place. happens anytime there is a lot of action going on at once... like during a fight. any fight. the game has been rendered unplayable for me at this point ever since the anniversary event. i lag and lag and lag then the game crashes. netgraph fills up almost completely with red. support hasn't been able to offer any support with it beyond blaming my computer/connection, which were both fine prior to the anniversary event and were not altered at all since it.
I'm in the process now of shutting down all of my accounts and giving up on CoH completely. they don't know how to skip publishing new content in favor of fixing numerous bugs they have left unresolved for multiple issues. if things go on this way they'll eventually have a "critical fail" meltdown and nothing will work anymore. I know this, because I've been on the developer side of such a meltdown from trying to add too much crap without fixing the legacy stuff. but meh, whatever. run things however you see fit. I'll come back in issue 17 or so when these connection issues have been replaced by 4 new equally annoying problems, and loads more content no one asked for.

Luckily, I only have the zoning version where /sync does fix it until the next time that I zone.
I played my highest leveled villain (the one that first got the bug when I got access to i12 via open Beta) yesterday. Had to use the /sync command every timed that I zoned but once.
It just reminded me again how long I have been bug reporting this.
I guess I should have never stopped for a while once the /sync was released. The system was supposed to auto-sync us after 10 seconds even back then but never did auto-sync correctly.
Many of us, I guess ...I know I was... where so happy that we could actually play the game that using the /sync command seemed minor and we thought that the DEVs understood that the game never was auto-syncing correctly and that they were working on it.
Now the bugs are just piling up. I'm looking forward and seeing even more bugs going to live with i14.
It is sad. This is an i12 bug that is still here while i14 goes to close beta testing. There are bunches of i13 bugs still out there as well.
I have said before that it is likely that this bug is going to cause people to quit playing this game.
It looks like other people are having even worse problems - and if it is that bad for them ...there are people that are not complaining and just quitting...
The Bugs need to be fixed.
Honestly, I feel like the DEVs are ignoring me and this feels like a waste of time even writing this, but you know in some ways that just how dedicated to this game that I am.
It is sad that someone that helps people as actively as they can in game and takes the time to express their views feels like they are being ignored by the people that are getting paid for working on the game.
I pay to play, so I am paying to help people.
You figure that someone that was getting paid to work on the game would want me to be happy.
