I disagree. The forum is a place for people to share information and resources - in the case of this particular forum, about art. If there's an ongoing problem with anything relating to art, I think this thread needs to serve as both a warning and enducation for others about how to commission and the possible pitfalls.
If the problem persists, so should the warning.
Locking the thread only serves as censorship, which I oppose in all it's forms.

Along with the book I am currently under contract to write for one of the most successful business coaches in the US, I am also somewhat schooled in the business world, and I come back to this thread occasionally when this business savvy can't take the sirencall anymore.
Listen ... Jomarro has shown that, after he bolts down the hole for weeks or months, it is this kind of thread that can sometimes force his head back up. He and I have had interesting exchanges in which I have let him know that all the other forums he uses to self promote can be accessed and informed - and posted the link to these threads . The internet cuts both ways baby.
If you don't like this thread, or you think it is ranting or unconstructive, then don't read it. I don't mean that belligerently, I mean it compassionately. Really ... just walk away. Jomarro chose to insert himself into this community. He has produced amazing art and at one time, a loyal following.
When you insert yourself into a community and then you abuse that trust, there needs to be resolution. An interestingly creative string of broken promises is not resolution - it is a perpetuation of the misuse of trust.
As TA said .. he needs to man up and make things right and for as long as he doesn't, threads like this will need to go on ... like Celine Dion ... and on .....
Communities suffer when they can't express their frustrations and betrayals so that others are informed. This is not a useless flaming thread, it is an expression of frustration and a desire for resolution.
Turns out that resolution is a luxury Jomarro is not willing to confer.

It would be the same type of "spam" every other artist in this section with an open commission list has done.
If this thread is locked it won't bar anyone from venting their frustrations or singing praises. It just locks one thread, since this section isn't auto purged, the thread will remain and those wanting to inform or warn can simply link to this thread, if they like.
Someone will start up another one if they feel frustrated and are looking to vent or want to show off their newly gotten artwork. In any case, its up to the mods and there's probably not anything in here that will give cause for it to be locked, so I doubt it will happen.

But seriously, locking the thread may or may not be for the best. As pointed out anyone can start another thread. However, if the thread devolves into personal attacks then sure, lock it down as per the Forum Guidelines rules.
There is really nothing wrong witht his thread, people are just voicing their frustrations/opinions. This is a forum after all.

Unfortunately this thread is in a violation of a number of the Official Message Forum Rules and Guidelines, and as such I'm forced to lock it.
I do sincerely hope that all parties involved receive the resolution they are looking for, I can only imagine how frustrating this must be. That being said, the CoH forums are a poor place to do this in many regards, both because of our rules and our obligations.

Well, maybe this thread should be locked. I don't think it should be deleted, as people might want to see both sides of the story, but continually rehashing it does little good.
((bear with me as I lay out two examples))
If Gill is an honest business person and has effectively communicated with his clients, and the people that are [censored] about him here are simply trolling - this thread should probably be locked.
If MMOART is using this thread solely to 'drum up business', then this thread should be locked.
If people have given money to MMOART and received no product... and no communication, then this thread needs to be locked (so as not to provide future 'advertising' to the company in question).
If this turns into a simply hate-fest (and so far I'm not sure it has... but at times it seems close), then this thread should be locked.
Basically, with Gill rarely posting on these forums, I'm not sure why this thread needs to continue (especially in its current form).
I would however love to see him back as an active member of the forum and the community.
For those that lost money through MMOART, I'm about to be a bit heartless (and please remember that I tried to help out last time) - but that is your loss. Whenever you buy things online - and pay all of it up front - you run the risk of losing your money. Unless there is some safeguard mechanism/process involved, ALL should be wary of giving money directly to a company online - especially a small private one (looks at his own website and whistles innocently).
I wish the best for all involved - but I don't see how this will end up well.
