I'm not impressed at all considering that I placed this order with him in April 2008. Now almost a year later, countless emails asking when it will be shipped and 3 months after I fully paid I have nothing to show for it but a small JPEG image.
[/ QUOTE ]Not to belittle your situation, it does suck. But I put in an order in 2006 that is still not even finished! And I happen to know another person who had several pieces paid in full from about 6 months before me and still only has ever gotten 1 completed. It's quite disheartening.

It' surprises me someone bought art from MMOART.COM recently, especially January of this year. What are you crazy?
Do not order art from MMOART.COM, they are unprofessional they do not keep in contact with their customers. This has been going on for the past 4 years. They take a extremely long time to ship their products.
All I did was order a mmoart.com T-Shirt, a freaking $15.00 T-Shirt and it took them 6 months before they even sent it out.
I've ordered art from many other people that used to or still frequent this forum and got that art in decent time and with constant email contact. Even if they weren't the artist that Gill is, they treated their customers properly. Those artist deserve the business. Artist like Foo, Aerones, DrunkFu, Juggertha, baquitania, BAS and many more deserve the recognition, business or both. Instead of someone who treats their customers like crap.
Coincidentally I now wipe my [censored] with that T-Shirt
I hope this post helps future art collectors.
EDIT: I didn't link Foo because just like Hickman he's self promoting.
... at least you received your t-shirt. I got a receipt for payment for the order. I tried wearing it, didn't work at all.
Don't get me wrong, I love Jomaro's work. But as has been said, his business savvy is... well, abysmal. I really think he needs to hire on with an established business (guildhelper, perhaps?) or at the very LEAST hook up with other artists and find out how they manage things business wise. I'm a big fan of Russ Platt and Ebony-Chan and Brandon McKinney, because they CARE about keeping their customers in the loop. If there are problems, they tell you. They send you roughs, pencils, inks, and ask if you'd like changes. Then they deliver.
If Jomaro and Nakeisha were to seriously adopt their business models and STICK TO THEM, MMOART would be a rockin' business. But right now... no.

I didn't buy from them in January. I placed the order I'm complaining about in April 2008. It was December 29, 2008, when I received a digital copy of it and the first week of January 2009, when I sent my final payment just to clear things up.
I placed 2 other orders with Jomaro about 2 years ago and didn't really have a problem with them. Back then shortly after I made my final payment it was within a couple weeks IIRC that I received them by mail.
This time I have a big problem with them.

My piece was posted just before those ones so it was finished before.
I'm not sure why they would ship his and not mine or at least reply to my emails. It's weird...
I could see them not shipping it if they think I didn't pay. (which I did, I have a receipt from Paypal) At least if it was a misunderstanding like that I would understand but to not get a reply to any of my emails asking when it will be shipped is disturbing.

Just to clarify. I didn't ask for a physical copy as I'm in New Zealand. Sending stuff around the world like that costs a little extra. I tend to get a digital version emailed to me as standard.
Sorry for any confusion.

Aww come on guys. Maybe something serious has happened. I hope everything is.....
Bah sorry i used to be so good at this....
um..
i uh....
Yeah i got nothing.
Just as an add in and because being vocal about this only ever helps to get more broken promises. In December when this thing blew up....AGAIN. I was accused of not being in communication with MMOart. I took it off this thread to PMs as suggested by everyone and so we could work it out in private. Afterall i got what i wanted. Communication finally.
So we worked it out that i would get the refund. He sent me an email at the time clearly pissed off at me for outing MMOart here in this thread and sent me every "sketch" through an email. He said he'd give me my refund and then he was done with me.
lol well my friend you aren't quite done with me just yet.
I went on vacation to Florida at the end of December. Just before that Gill and I had made up and agreed that after i got back he would give me a refund. After which i would get the prints of the other artwork he had done that i was waiting on. So i got back and we talked a lil. He said he needed to get a few commissions done so he could pay me. I have not heard from them since. Just so i can't be accused of not communicating, I have sent them an email at least once a week, sometimes twice. I have hit em up on Myspace and tried calling them. Nothing. No response. Nadda.
So here we are in April.
No money.
No art.
No printed art.
No communication.
So why is it we keep giving him a free pass when he posts up another awesome piece? Because we wanna keep him going. We hope that he is back into the swing of things and that MMOart is going to be everything we wanted it to be in the first place. Well it isn't. Gill has mad skillz no doubt about it. But he has lost all respect from me business wise. I don't feel like giving them another chance or trusting them yet again. I just want whats mine. Period.
My thoughts on whats happened have not changed.
He had a queue opened for 10 people and had all the right things going on. He prolly got into some financial trouble so he opened it up for more people. Overtime he wound up with a huge list of people most of which paid up front in full. He kept spending the money, got burnt out over and over on art and let it back up. Now hes in a position where he can't afford to pay people back, isn't willing to do the art because of lack of motivation and probably can't afford to get the art printed and sent out. So he ignores the emails,PMs, notes, messages and phone calls thinking he'll eventually get the motivation to get caught up.
But in the end. We have what we have. I imagine this will go on for quite some time until he eventually either gets caught up, gets motivation or somehow comes into money. Hell maybe he'll even show up here again and try another run. Some long post about how we are all evil and hes doing his best. I'm just so freaking frustrated over it all that i don't really have any answers.
So best of luck everyone! Heres hoping he wins the lottery or something. No wait.... Heres hoping I win the lottery dammit!!!! lol
read through some of this thread.
I gotta say: there are definitely some lessons to be learned here.

Sad but true.
I know this piece of advice is too late for some, but if you pay with Paypal, keep track of the date you paid for your final payment. Do look into your options regarding filing a complaint with Paypal, do pay attention to when the cut off date is for filing a complaint and whether or not you've received the piece before this window closes.
I'm not kidding when I suggest to file a complaint with them if it's feasible. Looking back, I'm fairly certain that's the only reason I finally got my prints. I waited and waited for them after being told they'd be sent, and after over a month, nada. I broke down and did my research on filing before actually going that route.
Huron: "...with Coffee primary / Attitude secondary"
Charnage: "Please. Think of the poor defenseless desks."
"The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed... In the year of the Praetorian War, it became something greater... our last, best hope for victory."
I've never had to file a complaint with paypal... is there a cut-off point to it?
I'm sorry to see that delays have caused another round of unhappiness. I hope Gill is able to get things together and make a comback... but each time this happens, it's harder to build up that karma.
Regrettibly, I don't have time for another bail-out package. Did it once, but not again.

Yeah, that half passed through my mind.
But I'm not really in a place to do anything like that right now.
I hope Gill posts up 5 pics or so that he's been meaning to publish.

Unless its changed, its 30 days from when you first paid.
Hrm, I'm rather disappointed about the current goings on and I sympathize with you folks who are out in the cold about your art.
In the future, I do suggest commissioning artists with good references and not paying full price upfront for anything over $50. There are plenty of veteran collectors such as TA, Brandi, PinUp, SoulTrain, Comrade Hero, and myself who are willing to recommend artists and artists like Shuler, McKinney et al who'll vouch for other artists. Just drop us messages. Networking, as I've written before, is golden. Being extra picky may not lead to a high-volume art collection, but a little planning and research goes a long way in avoiding stress/headaches in what's suppose to be a fun hobby/past-time.
I want to believe. I want to give the benefit of the doubt. I want the issue to be resolved and go away. Sadly, it ain't happenin'.

though I have to admit I did put in for one at mmoart some time ago, before the previous blowup. Thankfully I did not pay full price, just a deposit

Those people with hard feelings should contact Jomaro and work out a solution or request a refund. Otherwise I don't see many hard feelings around here, amazingly enough the exact opposite. The bottom line is either you choose not to patronize MMOART.com or you do.
Some may want a long detailed explanation of what happened, but if you really get right down to it, the only thing that matters is receiving the artwork or a refund.
Both of which should be arranged in private contact with Jomaro and not bantered about on this forum.
Now then...on with the ARTWORK! YAY!

I waited a couple of years for my Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl piece, but I realize not everyone is that patient.
Still waiting for two out of pieces from Ryan Stegman, but considering he got picked up by Marvel and is working on Hulk (and has done Grimm Fairy Tales) I'm going to wait patiently (and expectantly) for those as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you received your art yet? I know Gill posted those pieces right after doing mine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes I did receive them over a month or so ago, but given my njuries and rehabilitation since last year, posting art hasn't been high on my priorities unfortunately.
