Be More Positive: Reduce Trash Talking
I have no idea what the last 10 or so posts are talking about.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't PVP specifically because of trash talking.

I have a friend with a bridge...
What? I'm confused.
You can use it to get over yourself.

Ba-dum-dum pssh
I wasn't trying to be self-interested, or anything. I was trying to contribute to the topic. :-(
My response is the only way you'll ever enjoy PvP in any MMO. The trash talking won't go away.
Yeah, people will always shout PWNT! Nooooob! etc. It happened in WoW, AoC... nearly anywhere. You learn to ignore it, or pvp will just piss you off.
Edit to note: They don't always make rational reasons for their trash talking either... Like the guy who whacked my corrupter over and over for having healed someone and going "Where's your support now!?" Excuse me for healing someone once... I just went, found a safe spot till he left. Failing that, I could have gotten back up or simply left the zone.
Grinnz: I disagree. There are many competitive games that I enjoy, ones without trash talking because there is no chat in them or because the audience does not do so.

No chat: Well that's the equivalent of martial law, it works but it stems a lot of other things.
The second part, I'll need proof to believe that, if there really is an MMO where you can chat freely, fight each other, and there isn't trash talking.
When I used to play Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2, no one ever trash talked to me. I don't know if that's still the case, but it was nice back then when it came out.
Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2? That was an MMO?

I didn't play it myself. But I believe it was a single person game. But you could duel other people on-line or something.

heh the pvp roflcopter , mind elaborating what that is ?
[/ QUOTE ]

(quick reply)
Sometimes, I'm on a bad day and I shouldn't be in a PvP zone, and I go [censored] upon losing. I feel very, very dumb afterwards, cause I'm normally not that kind of person and end up feeling really bad. Besides, it's losing, in PvP, in a video game. lol? Yeah, only on bad days, and I don;y hit zones on bad days when my friends drag me there. Still, I should be in better control of myself.
I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.

It wasn't massive, but it was multiplayer on-line- you didn't have to worry much about people shouting insults or gloating for two main reasons - the pace was too fast, and aside from personal skill levels, all players were on the same level, having access to the same weapons and running around with the same attributes. Just like Counterstrike or Source, even the worst player could kill you when given ample opportunity.

Heh, I used to play that game as well, on a more competitve level that is. Though the game had quite a few below par players, there were ALOT of skilled players who wouldn't even die to lets say some randomer. Dual Blades ftw!
I R Trash Talker. Winning or losing I talk trash. Its part of the thirll I get from the PvP side when I am bored with PvE. NPC's don't talk back.
It's ... just kind of obnoxious. Oh sure, you whomped me or I whomped you and it can be fun to say 'Well done!' or something. Sometimes I get my backside handed to me royally.
But I don't get the appeal of "LOL YOU NOOB!" "PWNT!" or "I say, good sir, your mother would pvp better than you." or "I do believe I pwned your mom in an arena the other day. Pip pip. /monocle" Maybe it's something I'm missing.
People are retards. True fact.

I can see the appeal of saying this. I'm gonna go do it.

see I told you A ,B or C man LOL XD
I agree, but it's not going to happen. All I can do is lead by example when I PvP. Thank goodness for /ignore and disable seeing broadcast villian chat.
PvP is tactically so fundamentally different from PvE I don't think the un-initiated have any concept of what to expect when they try it out. This in and of itself will get newbies very frustrated which sets them up for being ultra sensitive to trash talk.
Maybe they need to expand that PvP Warning Message when you enter the zone to include an additional warning to Gird Your Loins Against Insults and Stick It Out for a Few Days, lol.

What about leading by example by not cutting off communication and instead exercising some mental maturity?
I never said I was bad at it ... just because youre doing fine doesnt mean everyone else is doing fine too
I'm saying there's a slight lack of balance in the power sets ,but that's for another section of the forums
I love pvp in general and I love pvp in cox
heh the pvp roflcopter , mind elaborating what that is ?
as i said before usually when I fight trash talkers I beat living crap out of them but just walk away with the win, there's never need to call anyone a n00b or say something along the lines of "ROFLCOPTER what a [censored] he couldnt beat us himself so he called an ARMY XD" in which case I ask the broadcaster if they want to fight in the arena where its not 8vs4 or 4vs1
bah I dunno I mean I really don't mind dying that much, there's usually ways around dying its the trash talking that usually makes everyone of the opposing faction leave leaving the winning group with no one to fight ...
to each his own I guess
