Native American costumes

I'm thinking about making one. Any good ones out there?

Here is mine. I took a more modern approach, since very few of the members of my RL tribe wear deerskin or feathers while at work.

I have some ideas but not near my game computer right now

under sleveless jackets, use vest. Use earth tone colors.

Lower body could be a wide variety of options, skirt, pants, tights.

There's actually a way to fake a loin cloth using a skirt and a pattern. Sorry I can't remember which one.. but you make the outer edge the same color as your skin (or close to it) the middle you make brown or other earth tone.

Hair, fancy braid... the one with the single loop and little things in the hair, could look like feathers..ooo.. that's only for females.

Boots... use either smooth or folded with the "combat boot" options. Color them brown and they look like moccassins.

on your back use either the "fringe" or "feather" option for a cape.

Uhh, they're called Indians.

Politically incorrect term based off of an assumption made by a lost explorer, that somehow stuck. >.>

Back on topic.. I never really thought about how to do the whole 'ethnic' Native American thing with particular characters (I lean more towards Asia).. Makes me wonder if theirs plans in the works for specific costume pieces in this area.

I'll have to ponder it a bit, though, using the current stuff.

*sigh* just when I think there's hope...

I must admit, the idea of Native costumes sounds interesting for future expansions, but I kind of like how creative people here are with what they have.

After messing around for a bit... If you can find a sleeveless jacket top that works for you (Motorcycle 1 and Leather fit my view on it), the Leather Straps chest option works pretty nice (no feathers though. :/). Some of the other stuff I couldn't really fit right in my head, though, but I got something semi-decent..

...But that's the only noteworthy part that stuck out in my head. Everything else is really more fiddling to taste, really.

It happens. Which is a good time to show them some Russell Peters videos!

You mean your favorite Indian hero?

No. She means her favorite Native American hero. Since you seem bound and determined to argue about this, bring it on. There are plenty of folks here who will be more than willing to kick you around like a football for a while.

Indians are from India. Terribly difficult concept for you to grasp, I know. But you just sit there and think on it for a while. Perhaps, if we're all lucky, one, or perhaps even two, of your braincells will evolve to the point where you can wrap your tiny little mind around it.

your = Belonging to you.
you're = Contraction meaning "You are."
Ur = The name of an ancient Mesopotamian city.
ur = This is not a word.

SpaCatta behaves like a dick in a number of threads, but despite his snideness here, there is a glimmer of truth to what he's saying. "Native American" isn't universally accepted even among them. Author Sherman Alexie, for instance, calls himself an Indian rather than Native American, and in a couple interviews he's said his friends do the same.

Whatever people want to be called should be the accepted phrase. If someone who has dwarfism prefers to be called a "little person" (as seen in the TV series Little People, Big World), then we should respect that. If, like a couple of little people actors have remarked, they want to be called a dwarf, then go with that.

Personally, I've always preferred "The People" it is simple, to the point, and of regional tradition.

Get this thread back on topic please or I will lock it.

ON TOPIC:

I'm loving the the costume created by SkullThuggery. Very creative. The fishnets are something I might have done differently Overall my favorite so far.

Luminara has a good one if I remember correctly

I agree with Niviene, not looking for that debate here (besides, I think the poster was just being snide). We all know what kind of costumes I'm talkin' about.

Great costumes - given me some excellent ideas. I might post my concepts here pretty soon.

That's the best one yet. Is that costume from the Wedding Pack?

Thanks!

The top is; it's the Excess Plus. The rest is standard: patent leather pants, wrapped boots, small gloves, and tied belt. I also make liberal use of scales; in this case high, wide cheek bones were important to me.
