Nemesis On Parade

I've finally gotten around to cleaning up and adding the background music to a piece of demowork I finished a while ago. It's not all that much to look at, but I figure it might be an entertaining way to kill a few minutes.

Thus, I present to you... Nemesis on Parade .

how did you do all this? its cool

A bit of scripting, actually. I can upload the actual code somewhere if anyone wants a closer look. As it is, it's not that complicated, the biggest pains were figuring out the landscape and slopes.

what programs do you use ?

This is why having an army of clones (and/or lookalikes) is a bad (and yet amusing) thing.

Very nice.

AutoIt, a scripting app. It's mostly designed for automating Windows actions, but it's pretty simple to write in.

re: Yuri

Yeah, but tell me that a contingent of Nemesis troops parading through Galaxy City wouldn't be an awesome thing to behold.

It'd just make me worry about faceplanting more then usual.

Then again, I tend to faceplant at the drop of a hat, so it shouldn't really worry me.

I see no Nemesis Warhorsies :'(

Yeah, I considered putting them in the rear, but no matter where you put them....

They're ugly!

*Points in awe*

Holy monkeys, a Quinch! I thought they were just a myth >_>

Any who, back on topic, on the demo edit, it is a funny concept ^_^ Would be incredibly amusing if you had some Jaeger units in there twirling their little weapons in time, of if you could get some of the soldiers to march with their weapons shouldered.

...or of one of them tripped, and was punished by nemesis >_>

I can see forever 0.0

re: Blackberry
That'd be cool, but the problem is, there is no "weapon on shoulder" emote, and the game engine doesn't have an option to make custom emotes. Hell, I'm not sure if I could pull off ragdolls anymore, since they're no longer recorded. Offhand, anyone know if they're still *rendered*, for example from older demorecordings? As such, I'm stuck with only using the emotes that are compatible with each model. Weapon-spinny Jaegers, tho, that might be interesting to see.

re: Hericane, ddgryphon, Turbo Ski, Ironik
Thanks. The thought of making a tutorial's crossed my mind, but I'm a bit swamped as it is. Maybe once I've got some time to write one.

it'd be awesome if you had a ton of nemesis soldiers standing in a circle in the middle with a bunch of npcs standing outside, and from a top view like synchronized swimming, they spin around and do whatever and at the end pull out nem staffs and send the outer rim ragdolling away

If they get ragdolls working well in Demos, you'll have to change the Nemesis to 5th Column. Then have a car say "I hate Paragon Nazis" and plow through.

Haha, that was cool, great job. I had always pictured there being a "Brass March" type zone event at some point that would look kinda like that. Great music btw.

Glad to see you finally posted this as a video, it really is a great piece of work . Though I was hoping there would be an explanation as to why people are cheering this nemesis parade.

Sadly, ragdolls aren't even translated into demo playback anymore. And custom ragdolls? eep. Best I could figure each set of numbers meant something about the position/orientation of each joint or piece of the body- I don't think I would want to try translating that mess... though it would be really cool if someone had .

very nice job! I still don't know how to do smooth camera movements that move around like that for long shots as you did in the beginning. I still got lots to learn!
The Jaegers putting along, that would look awesome!
