Guides are for wussies! Just charge!

You say that like it's that far off.

Lol I was just thinking the same thing...

I would ask this get added to "The Guides"
Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.
Great fun last night guys! I giggled alot due to some fun broadcast chat, and had a marvy time being Demilions personal pocket emp, keeping him buffed and healed. He died once on 2 raids, shortly after we got wiped in the middle of the ship but BOY, did we do some damage before they took us down.
Looking forward to next Wednesday! Demi...I'm all yours.
Okay, as usual, I don't understand. I did actually read the guide, a rarity for me. Of course, I read it this morning, after the raid.
The pylons and stuff are easy. But I really don't understand the deal on the ship. I do a little more now that I've read the guide, but it appears that I'm the only person that read it.
From what I read, after we board the ship, it seems like we should go from grate to grate, taking them down and setting bombs. But that isn't what seemed to me to be happening. It looked like people were just kind of wandering around randomly smashing Rikti. I mean, I did see a few people stacked around grates every now and then, but it didn't seem like a concerted effort. And nobody seemed to be calling out "Grate #1", "Grate #2", etc. So, I spent the time running around trying to help anyone who's life bar went a little too low. But much of the time, my team wasn't even near each other. I wasn't so much tanking as just busting chops. No effort seemed to be being made to corral the rikti in order to maximize AOE usage or minimize squishy death.
As this was only my second raid, I do not know how it is "supposed" to go. Is that pretty much it? People just smash Rikti while a few folks pop the grates and set the bombs? I only ever saw one bomb callout, and several people obviously missed it because there were several skulls after it went off.
At some point, I remembered there was a GM I was supposed to pound, but by that time people said he had already been done. I didn't recall seeing him, and we certainly didn't follow Mew's guide of pulling him anywhere. At least not that I saw.
And then, we just kept killing Rikti until we got popped off the ship. Is that it? No "you win"? No "you lose"? No definitive completion? That seems a little wack.
I was also wondering about creating a RtR channel, just for that. I was often missing the Broadcast and Request chat.
Anyway, I had a ton of fun, got lots of XP and only died once. I just want to make sure I am contributing to the best of my ability.
Actually, one thing that's not in the guide is: Once your team sets a bomb, they will not be able to set another for 30 minutes.
That's why there was no continued effort, after the initial push, the timers are all running and no one can grab anything else. As far as winning or losing, it seems like folks just call it a win if they can beat U'kon before the shields pop. There doesn't seem to be a main objective, you're just there to do damage.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.

So does that mean that unless you have 6 teams, you cannot bomb all the grates?
There are way more than 6 grates. More like 20+. I haven't counted them to be sure of the exact number, but there are a bunch.

...and only one bomb can be set per team every 30 minutes.
Oh! I misread that! "On each SECTION there are 6 grates." Okay, so what would happen if we assembled enough teams to simultaneously place a bomb in each grate?
Mass death? Seriously, it would be kinda cool to see if everyone would be able to escape that...
Unless we kept it to four people per team I don't know if we can actually fit enough people in the zone to get one team on every grate.

A: You crash into another one.
I don't know that anyone has done this, but everyone's talked about it.
Long and short, you'd need to have smaller strike teams to better plant bombs.
I totally think we could do it. I know we've gone and sat in the middle for quite a length of time. That is easily time where would could have skirted the middle and moved to bombing another section.
I thought at one point in the patch notes in was said that additional bombs increased the length of the shield being down. If that was the case, then it should be as hard as we'd think, just time consuming.
Can we convince Mew to set a date where we can try clearing all the bombs?
Well, yeah, I was thinking that we'd clear the area of most of the Rikti. Then break up into small teams, maybe 2-3 each, or even solos. Then each one set a bomb, coordinated by some overall leader.
Yeah, we might all die, but big whoop. Most of the people are 50, anyway. I just want to know if it has ever been done and if anyone knows what would happen.
So, what does setting the bombs actually do? Just badges? Or does it have some significance to the ship battle?
Here's a thought - one team of tanks/brutes go in for agro control, while a bunch of soloers go in for each bomb. think that might work?

Actually, I was able to read your respond, and type it up still within the same minute you posted.

*Waiting impatiently for Mew to return*
Actually something similar was how I got most of my bombs for the badge even though I was on a team. Four Purples means that practically nothing can hit you while you take down the grate and pull the aggro off to one side. After the grate is down and the aggro safely pulled away, a person with stealth/invis sneaks in and plants the bomb.

I'll see if i can help you out a bit

Once on the ship, there is no rhyme nor reason to the chaos. With a 30 minute timer on the bombs, there is a scramble to get them.

When you see "Fire in the hole", or anything similar, move away from an open grate if you are a squishy. The Blast is hellacious.
When I grab a bomb, I just yell out BOMB! in broadcast.

Yes there is a GM. When possible, we try to pull him to a decent spot such that everyone can get a whack at him.

No win, no lose, just booted off the ship.
Now for the unsaid things. The reason that it seems crazy is that people don't listen. There are a few stoners that have taken up the task of herding groups(I try, but my build sucks, so I am normally on a corr buffing them), but there are people that don't get it and interrupt the herds or use AoE knockbacks before the herd is stacked. There also seem to be a couple of people hell bent on causing havoc lately. People have tried to Jack his raids, pull the GM before we are ready, and just make things miserable. I am not sure if it is intentional or not, but it's getting tired.
To be honest with you, the best raids are the third round, because most of the knuckleheads have left.
Oh, and a Rikti channel is not something I want to see since my globals are full

Okay, let mew try to clear some things up...
*reads over Vega's post*
Hmm, someone beat mew to it it seems.
Vega's right on the money, actually. Probably because we're usually on TS together for the Raids and he knows the stress mew goes through on each round, but still.
If anyone remembers when mew first started doing the RtR events, they'll remember mew has tried to get people to go from grate to grate, clearing Rikti as we moved. Mew idea was to go from grate to grate and clear as much as possible, then mew'd pull U'Kon.. too bad no one bothers listening to mew once the shield drops. >-_-<
Also, mew friends are the stoners that try to herd all the time. If left alone, they can pull off massive herds and everyone would have a chance at tons of merits, cash, prestige and XP (for those who attend that are not level 50 yet). Sadly, it turns into a free-for-all and some people... well, mew doesn't want to say 'grief' (but that's sure what it looks like sometimes) by using all kinds of knockback powers, taunts, immobilizes, holds, slows, etc. to try and stop/divert the herd.
As for U'Kon the GM... *sighs* Like mew said in the guide, everyone thinks they know when to pull him, when they don't. They give no warning, no advance notice, nothing. They just go and pull U'Kon whenever they feel like it, which means most of the people at the raid miss a chance at the badge. The past two weeks, it's been this tiny lil 4' tall-ish Willpower/Fire tanker that seems to think they're in charge and can do as they like. To mew it looks like griefing, or they might just not know how their actions are affecting the raid in general. Mew's hoping for the latter, as mew likes to give people the benefit of the doubt.
>_-_< <-- head hurts and wants a tummy rub
Um... okay. Knew all that. But what happens if you set of bombs in all the grates all at once? Does anybody definitively know, either from experience or from Dev posting? Is there a chance that something cool would happen?
Mew knows mew posted this once before, but since there are a lot of new people showing up to mew Wed night RUSH the RIKTI raids, mew thought it'd be a good idea to throw mew guide back up on the forums here to help clear up and possible questions...
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, furries of all ages.. LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!
That's right! The Sex Kittens and Rare Breed are proud to kick off Rush the Rikti!
So here's the lowdown, as mew stated in a previous post, mew's gonna -try- to lead a Rikti Ship Raid every Wed night at 9pm EST! Sorry to say, mew really sucks at time zone conversions, so you'll have to figure those out for yourself. Sowwy.
Anywho, we'll start at 9pm EST and keep going until we run about three "runs." Each "run" lasts about an hour or so if things go well.
We'll all meet up at the Vanguard mini base at Point du Hoc (has red stripes on it; each mini base has different colors on it). For those who care, it's called Fort Plum.
Meeting Point
Once it's "Go Time!," the first Pylon that we'll take out is Pylon #12. Mew will call out each Pylon as the previous one is destroyed. For those new to this, the Pylons are numbered on your map. If they do not show up on your map, click on the Options box in the map window and make sure the Special dot is "checked." The Pylons should now be displayed on your map. The basic run usually goes as follows:
Pylon 12 --> Pylon 11 --> Pylon 14 --> Pylon 17 --> Pylon 15 --> Pylon 13 --> Pylon 16 --> Pylon 6 --> Pylon 5 --> Pylon 7 --> Pylon 4 --> Pylon 8 --> Pylon 3 --> Pylon 2 --> Pylon 9 --> Pylon 18 --> Pylon 10 --> Pylon 1
At the point, the shield that's protecting the ship will drop and the true Raid will commence. We will board the ship from directly above Pylon 1. This is not the only side you can get to the ship from, but it's usually the easiest.
Boarding Point
Now on each section of the ship, there are a total of 6 Grates, which is where the bombs are planted. There are 3 up the left side, and 3 up the right. To plant a bomb, you must destroy the Grate, which has 810.0 HPs. Now as soon as someone starts attacking a Grate, Rikti should start 'porting in around the Grate to try and stop you/us.
The Grates
Grate's HPs
Open Grate
As suggested by.. M I Abrams mew thinks it was, once your team plants a bomb, shout it out on Broadcast and/or Request. Now you might be asking yourself why, so here's your answer: YOU'LL GET BLOWN INTO LITTLE HERO OR VILLAIN BITS!! Seriously, unless you're a brute or a tank, or something else with a lot of HPs, if you have like.. half your HPs, the bomb going off will most likely kill you. Can we say "Ship Wipe?" Mew knew you could! So the idea here is to minimize the chance of this happening as it's a pain to travel from the Vanguard hospital back to the ship.
Now once enough bombs have been planted, and/or Rikti taken out (not sure how it works), the Rikti Giant Monster will spawn in the center of the ship. Trust mew.. you can't miss him.
GM Spawn Point
Rikti GM
The GMs' name is U'Kon Gr'ai and he (or we assume it's a 'he') has 76695.0 HPs. Mew believes he works like every other GM that is associated with a badge, meaning your team needs to do 10% of the total damage (not 10% of his HPs) to get badge credit.
IMPORTANT!! Once U'Kon does indeed spawn, either mew will pull him or mew will have someone mew trusts pull him! Why is this? Basically to prevent mass deaths and team wipes. Most people seem to think they know when to pull him, which they don't! Thus resulting in people getting slaughtered by the Rikti Magus es (Magi?), Heavies, and all sorts of other buffed minions and bosses. Another reason to wait for mew to pull him/have him pulled is so that everyone is ready and waiting for him so they get badge credit!
Now there are 2 badges to be earned by doing the Ship Raids. One is called Demolitionist, and the other is called Master At Arms:
Demolitionist is earned by planting 25 bombs on the ship. Now this is a team credit badge, so as long as someone on your team plants a bomb, everyone gets credit for it.
Master At Arms is earned by helping to take out the GM 10 times.
So mew hopes this attempt at a mini guide helped answer any questions you might of had. Mew apologizes in advance if mew missed/forgotten to include anything, and mew hopes to see you there!
>^.^<
ALSO! It is possible to get Superior Recipes (a.k.a. "purple drops") from the Rikti on the ship. Mew got an Armageddon Acc/Dam/Rech off of a minion. So there's another reason to come to the Raids!
