Although, if I14 goes "live" this Wednesday (8 April), you may see a big drop in raiders since a lot of folks will be playing with Mission Architect.

No, the ship raid does not.
When someone completes the Lady Grey Task Force, an invasion is set off.

Well, a real easy way to double check would be to add a tab and just put the hero alert channel on it. The first run of the rikti raid usually takes about 45 minutes, so at about 9:45 ET (6:45 PT) there would be an alert for the raid, possibly followed by another an hour or so later, if there's a second run.
Also, you could log your chat and search through it at a later time. And the chat log gives exact date and time when it happens. For example, here's one entry:
01-03-2009 11:36:22 [Vanguard] DANGER!: Rikti invasion forces have been spotted in Founders' Falls. Non-combatants are advised to seek cover.

One thing to realize is that you don't need a large number of people to be on a raid. Several times now I've been on raids with as few as 10 people. Really good people, true, but they went quite well. You just have to be a bit more careful than the usual Wed. night madness.

It might take a little to try to get a couple of nights going (even if it's temp). Most of the nights are taken with one thing or another. Task force Tuesdays, Wreckless Wednesdays (yeah I made that one up for the RtR), Thursday night fights, and Stationary Saturdays. Fridays alot of people are offline for RL stuff, Mondays...can be hard sometimes not, Sundays...don't know.
