WoW vs CoX RP

Closest I've seen to that just 'weakens' the healing amount by a set number.
Then again, I don't have anyone beyound 32, 33 yet.
My curiosity is just how many would it take to pose a threat to granite armor brutes/tankers.
Really, the only non-in-mass threats I can personaly think of to a Hero/villian belong with the spell casters.
Warlocks using Felhunter wipe out buffs and debuffs.
Succubus charm human(noids)
Enslave Demon to control... well demonic heroes/villians
Imp... is just annoying.
Curses,Spells... etc.
The big summons tend to be just as dangerous to them as they are to everyone else. *big burnning rock monster*
Mage's got spells, lots of spells.
Druid, Priest, Shaman.
Rogues would be possibly poisoning bigger targets if they can then sneeking after soft targets.
Warriors... no idea...
Paladins.... well holy magic against the demons... and undead.
Hunters... ... hunters pets... I would think also go after the softer targets.
I for the life of me can't remember every class in the game.
Pally's BWHAHAHAHAHA, ok let me break down numbers.
Pally - 10k hit points (high armor)
most of them a spec'd healing cause their dps blows.
Warlock - 10-14k hp (can be considered medium)
Depending on spec changes alot about it. Destruction can one shot every build in CoH. Demon spec is about demons who dont hit nearly as hard but give the warlock almost limitless Mana and Hp
Mage - 8-10k hp (extremely low armor)
Frost mages might be the only spec that cant one shot us
Hunter - 8k hp (Medium armor)
Most hunters dont deal alot of damage, but combinded with pet they are very nasty
Rogue - 7k hp (low armor)
they are the dps master of WoW they are always on top of damage charts on melee friendly fights plain and simple.
Druid - 6-17k unbuffed (low to high)
3 specs all evil in their own ways...
Trees - Kings of Heals over Time
Bear - Tank like 14-17k unbuffed HP (extremely high armor)
Moonkin - 10k hp (15kish armor so High)
Shaman - 8-10k hp (medium armor)
Most spec healing others spec some sort of damage be it chain lightning or windfury (melee)
Priest - 8-10k hp (low)
two main specs
healing and shadow (dps)
Warrior 8k-18k unbuffed (medium to high)
3 specs all widely used
PvE Dps (Fury) 8-10K hp *Dual Wield*
PvP Dps (Arms) 10-12k hp *Two-Handed Weapons*
Both of the warrior damage sets are big damage PvP warriors can crit for over 2k normal shots
and Tank spec (12k - 18k unbuffed) high - extremely high armor
All these numbers are based off the characters are level 70 and in full epic armor and weapons.
Edit 1: In all honest for sheer numbers that WoW dps can produce and the ammount that WoW healers can heal for and their top end HP. CoH toons in theroy wouldnt scratch'em.
Edit 2: Oh and there is no real "regen" or "-regen" except for Warlock curses that do DoT. HoTs could be considered Regen.
Edit 3: My WoW expierance is as follows,
Warrior - Tank/PvP
Tank 14.2k hp unbuffed (can be buffed to 20k) All epic gear. 4/5 Tier 4
Arms/Fury PvP 10k, 1700 attack power, 31% crit. Almost all epic gear.
Level 57 Warlock
Level 39 Twink PvP Hunter
Edit 4: I keep remembering crap! LOL Yes there is something that lowers ammount healed. But thats only one power atm that Arms warriors have called Mortal Strike, Which is a 2k shot spec'd for it and lowers ammount healed by 50% to that target.
than many other level 30's that I never got too much further than that. Also a couple 40's in there.
Umm... right... but how much do those numbers matter in an actual fight?
I'm not talking a fight between game and game but this guy and that guy.
Realistic fight.
How well would the Warrior in all their armor and sword, I figure all enchanted by a multitude of magics as well as being extreamly well crafted be against the man who armorless, just shirt and pants can't be peirced by bullets and can lift well over a ton of weight and throw it.
That's the challenge you face in having one fight the other.
THat's alot of information to process ya know.
ah but there is a problem with that assumption as per to CoH there is no one like that. All heroes can be hurt, We dont have a Superman whos only weakness is Kryptonite. Now as my comparison was CoH vs WoW in numbers, WoW has CoH beat hands down. A warrior with 8k armor (about 50% physical resistance) and can hit for 1-2k damage (1k being normal swings 2k being crit) Now lets bring in a tank into this mixture.
16k armor (unbuffed 18k buffed) = 60% Physical Resistance
20k HP
normal swings 200-400 damage
Shield Slam 600 normal hits 1.5k crits.
And to the OP, love the stories and dont let the hard number effect the story. he asked for numbers so I gave them to him.
And on the whole thought process of super strenght and picking up tons of stuff. Almost all the enemies in WoW that are "raid bosses" are large guys like a 6' comes up to their ankle. Like a Hami size guy smacking you. (Some hit tanks for 6-8k. One of them can hit cloth wearin heroes for 20k
If you were to match CoH's HP and Damage to match that of WOW. CoH than would be the top. But since the games numbers are based differently that is where the problem in comparing the two is.
Don't foreget that while under their effects, City of Confuse/decive powers make ones pets attack oneself and allies. Any buff's/debuffs those pets have work in favor of the Confuser not the owner and his/her allies. Bubbles and damage resistance buffs from spearate casters stack, and clear mind stacks off the same caster. Not to mention how many heroes and villians would be running tactics/manuvers/asualt, with vengence flying off for any fallen ally who would then be rezed with mostly uninteruptable rezes, 2 that can make the rezed a killing machine and one that can stun all nearby foes that don't have mag 2 mez resitance or better and tosses in a mighty slow and to hit debuff even if not effected. I do not think any rogue will actualy be allowed to be invisible for any length of time. Stalkers that do not have good AOE defence same boat du to all the WoW AoE. But they wil lbe healed and buffed to the 9's stalkers.
Most of wow's heals are interuptable to some degree even specing to not be.... All of City of's Tar patches, quicksands, to hit debuff toggles, CALTROPS up the whazoo all act as CONSTANT interrupts while activly thouching you.
The device/traps guys will actualy get to do their massive bombing set up and effects here.) Endurance sapping effecting the WoW blue Bars, to be fair whilst Mana drains effect effect COHers. No WoW character having a Mez that lasts over 8 seconds while the most of the City of characters have 8 seconds as a very low base timer on theirs (oops I forgot to slot for hold ;p ). City of guys having BF's in their trays and mez resisting buffs and PbAoe Toggles from Bubbles and sonics. WoW guys all walking appart from special ruch attacks or blink and Sprint with their insanely long cool downs. Rad Defence debuffs nerfing what little +defence wow characters are allowed to spec for.
Preist and Warlocks single and tops 3 target fears VS Dark Miasmas fear cone, Dark armors fear toggle, Dark armor, soon to exist Willpower's and other's nigh immunity to fear, Illusions' Fear AOE + single target terrify pet, Mind controls Sleep, Cone fear. Hmmm let me think...
The WoW guys wont get to enjoy their Extra HP much since most can't regen dusing combat and must rely on heals which will be largely interrupted. If one can be spam AOE healed during a Hami raid by City of's largely and completely (outside of aid other which can be slotted to mostly account for it) Uninteruptable heals I don't think that even a destruction warlock could have much hope of bringing down anyone unless somebody... no a whole lot of somebodys made a collosal error.
Boy talk about apples and oranges. I would try to avoid arguments that the WoW'er have more HP my friend cause heroes/villians have so many ways of neutering high HP when their teamed it's taken the Dev's needing to cheat for the AV/GM's and give then Massive HP regen that WoW chracter do not have to make those High HP NPC's last even a little while. You talk HP and I'll talk actual powers and the uninteruptability of most of the CoH ones. Can be a very deciding factor. As for balancing the sides I'd Reduce the WoW HP scale to city of comaptability and make moer of their stuff work while moving. Otherwise theyre sitting ducks.
Dang now I'm immagining the FASTEST moving WoW characters will be the ones uner the effects of Mind control/defender epics TK, Kinetics and FF's Repel powers and OMG the pwnage of forcebolt alone coupled with energy blast?...
I'll still cheer for my old Druids and hunters. Go underdogs! Peity your almost mostly Lethal/smashing damage though... good thing they throw a little variety. It's still not going to help. Elune be with you? Yer gonna need divine intervention.
Can't wait to read more for the shere hialrity of it. Maybee the the WoW guys will pull in a Giant Monster to even the score? lol
GJ OP for an original idea.
Hmm?
Alright then... in the world of Paragon and the Rogue Isles..... what 'is' invulnerabilty?
What makes that hero/villian so special that they earn having invulnerable attached to cards/files on their powers?
The goal is to match two diffrent worlds and pit them in combat.
Base the level of powers off numbers provided by a video game doesn't exactly inspire a reading worthy story.
At the same time, if you ignore numbers all together and examine how the powers theirselves work. Then you could end up with workable information to make ther person in question as strong or weak as you need them to be.
Writing a good readable story is alot harder then just sitting back and reading one.
Can you make it intresting without being unrealistic?
Will this be too over the top or withen the realm of reason?
A warrior won't be able to out muscle the superstrenght of a hero/villian and fighting the invuln would be like fighting someone in heavy armor or worse.
That seems reasonable in my mind.
Eather way, both would possibly be able to take a load of punishment.
If you up the CoX charactrers to WoW levels or lower WoW characters to fall in line with CoX then I think most CoX characters would destroy their WoW counterparts whether that is through buffs/debuffs or sheer firepower.
Scrapper Slotting Basics
Brute Slotting Basics
yoinking this one from my original thread that started this.
I would like to see both sides on the hills of a battlefield looking across to each other with a large killzone gap in the middle.
The sides favor the WoW interlopers with mass amounts of Warriors shining their weapons and legions of Mages readying their spells and buffs.
The Heroes are assembled and ready to do the best they can to hold the line.... the Scrappers salivating at the upcoming carnage....the Tankers standing by to be the first wave in....Controllers summoning up pets and setting there controls to go.....Defenders doing everything else to get the battle ready like buffing and planning. The assembled Kheldian's floating above ready to rain bright and dark death upon the Alliance. (Didn't think they were going to miss the fun eh?)
A cold wind blows through the small valley emphasising the solomn undertone of this upcoming battle. The Hero's start to feel breeze's and whispers through their ranks and as they look out they start to see the squishies on the WoW side start to drop.....first one then two .....now whole chunks are falling.....for a second there if you look just right and squint.....nah.....it almost looked like the Stalkers that plague the PvP zones so.....
The Heroes feel a presence behind them and turn to look and witness the assembled legions of the Rogue Isles......Walls and walls of over eager Brutes, cackling Corrupters, and viscious Dominators. Their leader a large brute of a machine with red electricity crackling all around him states "We are not here for the same reasons you are ..... good, righteosness, freedom...... we join ranks with you now for one reason only ...... TO DESTROY THE INTERLOPERS!!!!!!!" As a cry rang out throughout the villian crowd.
The Alliance is looking nervous now but still ready for a good fight until ....... they here this marching .....this horrible marching ....... thier commmanders look out to see cresting the hill behind the Heroes/Villians ....... an army of Masterminds and thier minions......their march shakes the very earth. After they have gathered their masses and the land comes to a still....... all is is quiet .....until the MM's order their assembled minions to ready themselves. The dead start to crawl out of the ground with swords in hand and Liches in tow...... the sounds of hundreds of Bots charging up their energy weapons......the Ninjas and Mercs taking their positions readying bow's, shirkuns, assault rifles....... the Thugs roll in then with chains, and pistols, and numbers ....ooooh god the numbers......things are starting to look a bit more fair now.
The Interlopers look scared. Thier Commanders are trying to keep ranks while calling for more backup....
Finally getting tired of waiting a Brute talks to a Scrapper ....... another Scrapper talks to a Brute ..... after a murmur goes through the assembled ranks they all raise their swords, or fists, or other weapons high into the air and scream "6 second rule!!!!!!" and a charge that the multiverse has never seen and probably will never again rise's up and moves forward without friends ..... without backup ....without numbers .... these warriors that strive for the glory of battle go out on their own to meet the crumbling resistance.
The Commanders of the Alliance let a whimper out as they see a sea of the best assembled waves of Brute, Scrapper, and any one crazy enough to follow them running straight at them screaming like the damned.
Seeing that they will be seriously beaten through sheer numbers and ferocity they turn tail and run only to be cut down by the assembled might of the CoX universe...... only a small fraction of the team that had assembled there make it out with their skins intact.
The rest are sitting in detention cells with either Arachnos or the PPD ....either way there is no bright future coming for them......
Word to the WoW people! Next time bring some Dragons or something so we can have a real challenge!
(What I would give up half of my lifetime of accumulating geek points to see lol)

Actually, I think it'd be really funny if something else happened, despite the "six-second rule." The battle should start with some poor sucker on the WoW side shouting out "Leeroy Jenkins!" and charging into battle, causing everyone else to rush in after him, unprepared. Certainly bode a bit better for us hero/villain-types, eh?

Whoops...forgot to include Materful's account.
In the midst of the massive valley two armies are gathered.
To the south, a sea of warriors, magicians, knights, bowmen and many others stand. They hail from the land of warcraft. They stand in the ready, swords sharpened, bows stringed, horses prepared for war. They are over nine million strong, a force that would strike fear into any army, any nation, and any entity from any time or place
But there are those who stand against them
To the north an alliance of heroes and villains, once sworn nemeses, stand banded together, now brothers, united by a war greater than their differences. They hail from Paragon City and the Rouge Islands. They are known for their acts of bravery, terror, virtue, and villainy. They are those that have forsaken their own identities for something greater than themselves, be it for evil or good. They are those with powers beyond many peoples wildest dreams. They are those that can run faster than the speed of sound, control others actions with their minds, dodge any bullet. They are superhuman. And their tales of victory have reached even the lands of warcraft.
The armies stand, facing one-another in the vast valley. Almost half a mile lies between them. Both armies are making last minute preparations. Their leaders of the armies of warcraft move down the lines offering encouragement to the surprisingly anxious armies, as they finished preparing for war. The battle is ours! We shall have the victory! they roared. The sea of troops echoed their cries.
The heroes and villains prepared as well, thousands of force fields were activated, innumerable troops were granted fortitude, and inspirations were dispersed among the ranks.
When the armies were ready each side send to representatives to meet in the center of the field, with hopes that one side would back down and the bloodbath that was about to ensue would be halted for another day. Both sides sent their representatives, from the armies of warcraft, a massive tauren and a human warrior, from the alliance of heroes and villains, a brute and a peace bringer.
They meet in the center of the battlefield.
You are greatly outnumbered; surrender and we will spare you. Bow before the armies of warcraft and you will live! the warrior shouted.
Outnumbered
Thats what I like to hear
the brute smiled. Even the noble peace bringer smiled at the warriors remark.
We will not surrender warrior, nor will we accept your surrender. However, if you give up, we will offer to let you flee a few minutes before we allow the scrappers to attack. The peace bringer smiled as he spoke, hardly more than a whisper. But the resolve in his voice was firm.
The tauren growled. Then you will die! he yelled, as he drew his massive sword and swung it at the peace bringer with unrelenting force.
But his blow never fell. Before he could land the blow a blinding light radiated from the peace bringer, even the mighty tauren wavered in the piercing glow. It lessened moments later, and where it had originated a giant figure stood. It was a massive glowing white dwarf, the same size as the tauren it faced. The tauren growled as he regained his composure, he swung a deadly blow at the white dwarf, but his blade bounded off its think armor.
The warrior drew his blade as well and advanced toward the brute. The brutes body tensed and electricity sparked from his body. The warrior paused for a second but then swung the sword; as soon as the blade touched the brute electricity surged into the warrior. The warrior gasped as the currents overtook him, dropping him to his knees. The brute looked at the pathetic warrior on the ground, and smiled as he electrocuted him to death.
The white dwarf took blow after blow from the tauren but never so much as flinched. The onlookers gasped as the white dwarf swung his mighty fist and launched the huge tauren head over heels back to his army. Then it begins! he yelled.
The hero and the villain turned and returned to their army. There would be a war, and they were determined to be its victors.
The armies stood anxiously, awaiting only the order to charge. All preparations were complete, this was it. The battle of all time, a battle of pride and honor. Silence cloaked the field.
Suddenly a single cry rang out from the field, LEEEEEEEERRRROOOOOOOOYYY!!!! it boomed. Members of both armies stood in shock as a single troop raced out from the warcraft line. The scrappers smiled in approval, this may be a battle after all, they thought.
As Leroy neared the heroes and villains line he drew his sword, and raised it, he was about to swing it at a blaster when he felt himself being lifted in the air, he looked down in shock as he saw he was hovering a foot above the ground, suspended by a manipulated gravitational field. A controller smiled, poor Leroy had no mez protection. The controller created another gravitational field, this time lifting a small car out of the void. Leroy frowned as the car came careening towards his face.
The scrappers looked at Leroys lifeless body, it was inspiring. They started counting silently...
Six seconds later, as the warcraft armies began to march they heard a cry, a cry unlike any that has ever been heard or will ever be heard again, they heard the battle cries of an army of scrappers, 50,000 strong as they rushed headlong toward the army of 9 million. They cared not of odds or numbers, they cared not of sanity, there was blood to be had, and it was theirs for the taking. Six seconds was gone, and all is fair now. The armies of warcraft wavered, unsure of the small but fierce advancing army. Ranged units to the front! Ranged units to the front! a captain bellowed, Kill them!
Before the captain could take his next breath a blade slashed though his back, and he dropped to the ground dead. A stalker stood over his body smiling.
Innumerable cries of agony were heard throughout the warcraft ranks as thousands of the leaders fell dead, killed by the assassin strikes given by tens of thousands of stalkers that had stood hidden among the warcraft ranks.
As the scrappers collided with the enemy lines, mowing down all in their paths, thousands of heroes and villains alike appeared in the middle of the warcraft ranks, they had stood there invisible waiting for the opportune moment, and this was it.
As the rest of the heroes and villains collided with the warcraft armies, 10s of thousands of nukes, erupted, killing even the strongest of the warcraft ranks instantly.
The battle raged, but even though the warcraft armies killed numerous foes, their enemies continued to come. Defenders teleported their fallen comrades out of the fray and resurrected them, sending them back into battle. The hordes of warcrafts armies stood in shock as thousands of massive stone beings, and white and dark dwarfs pierced though their lines without showing any signs of weakening. Huge extraterrestrial being, called shivans, stomped through the battlefield laying waste to all enemies in their paths. Scrores of thousands of masterminds minions attacked the foes. Thousands upon thousands of flying heroes and villians flew just out of reach of the warcraft troops, blasting them with fire, radiation, energy, electricity and psychic attacks. Any fleeing members of the warcraft army were quickly cut down by superspeeding heroes or villians.
Some of the warcraft leaders looked the situation over. We may actually loose, they realized

My thoughts on November 30.
If NPC's from both WoW and CoX. WoW would get slaughtered, Rikti Invasion forces targeting WoW would pretty much finish WoW.
NPC's are a good part of each game (Not to sure about wow since I've never played it ) Dragons would seem pathetic againt the Rikti ships
But the again with out the NPC's being involved it would be a good battle
Unexploded Rikti bomb on ground

You take damage and hp, odds are you have to take everything else between two diffrent games. and normalize them so theya re equal... you end up with yet another game at which point there would be no slaughter fest. Tough fights maybe but no slaughter because by allr ights one would be just as strong as the other even if a bit diffrent.
Flying heroes and villians would be assulted by spells and ranged weapons.
Resistance and Defense would be nothing more then high armor in that regard. One side gaining armor strenght natural through leveling, the other side gaining armor/resistance through finding peices of armor, armor sets, etc... etc..
If you are gonna make a story out of two worlds, then game numbers like hp and what not mean nill and its down to what the reality of alot of powers andthings would be.
Fliers will still be in range of magic and bullets.... arrows I'm not so sure of.
Invulnerability would do that, make them invulnerable meaning the best chance to fight would require magic of some sort be it getting help from various spell casters or heavly enchanted weapons. Unless some of the stalkers had the power to litteraly become invisible, they would be doing the same thing as rogues, sneaking around in the midst of battle drawing so little attention to theirselves that when they struck a victum, said victum would honestly question how they got so close without being noticed.
If any of the hero/villian types were demonic then it would be a battle of wills as Warlocks that knew the incantations would possibly try to enslave them. Another battle of wills would involve Succubi under the control of the Warlock trying to use their demonic charms to turn selected targets into a mindless drooling idiot untill someone or something snaps them out of it.
In a game, Numbers rule
In a story, reality and interperation of power rule.
In a game, everyone can fight everyone without reason.
In a story, Few may fight for no reason at but many must have a reason because not everone is a mindless creature out for blood.
Soo.... is this a game or a story people are trying to write?
basically...its a story........or compendium of stories.....look it is all in jest, not an I HATE WoW thing..but a "What I think would happen if we fought eachother" thing
