One thing I'd really love to see added in a SG is an option for a 2x3 entrance room. I hate that there's no way to line up a centered entrance with a centered hallway to give you that grand entrance feel. Do to the nature of the room adjacency limitations, I've got enough room for something like this anyway.
It's probably technically impossible with the way the entrance room seems to be coded into the base system (ie the only thing that perpetually exists), but it would be wonderful if we could do something with this.
A short description for each SG Rank would go a long way towards helping people manage their SG's promotion systems.
More details in this thrad, figured it just needed a summary in this big post.

Would be plenty easy, I think, within the current building system.
You can have many Control Rooms, but only 1 Control Main. Allow multiple Entrance Rooms, but only the 1 undeletable Portal.
If you want to upgrade, you do a room shuffle. Place the new room, move the portal there, delete the old, move the room into the old spot. Pathing rules simply apply as normal.
In fact, I'd be very clean and simple if all decorative rooms could serve as an entrance. Now they don't even have to add new rooms to the editor.
As I procrastinate on my holiday shopping, I dream of decorating my SG with garlands, wreaths, Christmas tree, presents, string lights, and maybe even a punch bowl with eggnog or spiced apple cider... oh, and sugar cookies for Santa, of course.

I'd love to be able to create a waterfall in my base. Or perhaps being able to create a pool of water like many people seem to also want.

I like the idea of personal storage for members also, but more as a trunk or a locker as to not take up too much space in the base.
What I'd like for my base.
1. Bar equipment like found in the pocket D chalet. That means beer taps an liquor bottles that look like liquor bottles.
2. Billiard tables and dart boards
3. Realistic looking beds that aren't medical ones or cots
4. Statues, a whole new category that includes large and smalle, and things like gargoyles for walls and floot mounts that don't produce forcefields.
5. Kitchen items, stoves, refridgerators
6. Water effects, also a new category, fountains, pools, hot tubs, waterfalls. Splashing effects nice, but any water better than none.
7. Open sky ceiling patterns, one with clouds, one fairly clear, one with the moon and stars.
8. Larger desks so "magic desk" creations aren't so difficult.
9. An option for no trim or invisible trim for ceilings and floors.
10. Music effects for rooms, especially entertainment areas, Things like rock, jazz, classical, trance, etc.
11. Windows
12. Wardrobes that act as acess to the icon tailor.

Add a Wentworth's/Blackmarket access point and this about covers the list for most wanted base items.
@Bonker Guide to Base Building for the Small SG
Present project: Solo Everything Project
Remaining: Lusca, Sewers, Eden, Kahn, States, HeroSpec2&3, Apex, Tin Mage, Moritmer Kal, Tesseract, Recluse, 'Cuda, Quarry, Stropharia, Thorn, Arachnos Flier, Deathsurge, Caleb, Seed of Hamidon (Villrespec2&3, Hami, CoP, Incarnates)
Can we please get the Casino items that are already in game converted to base placeables? IMO it would require a minimal amounts of work since the models already exist, and every time I rob one of those casinos I can't help but want to take home a slot machine/roulette table, etc.
A few changes I would like to see:
-Doorways with trim and the ability to place items in.
-Something other than a one square doorway. A 1x2, 2x2, 1x2-5 long, etc. It's ridiculous that I have to buy a 50,000+ Prestige workshop in order to connect rooms that are more than 1 square apart.
--for that matter, the end to fixed room sizes. I'd like to be able to adjust the sizes of my individual rooms to fit the plot and my needs.
-A "queue" option that'll store your stuff while your moving/deleting rooms. It really sucks to have to move or sell every little item in a room to guarantee you can move it or delete it hassle-free, especially when your in a SG/VG that's been around awhile and has alot of veteran and crafted items.
-The end of the frustrating requirement that rooms must have a doorway to be placed at all. It's really silly that the editor chooses the door, and the entire square where it wants the door to be MUST be completely clear before the room can be placed. Instead, perhaps allow rooms to be placed without a doorway, but the base editor cannot be exited from until every room is connected. This way we can place the room then choose where the door goes.
-At the minimum, ANYTHING with a flat surface on top should be stackable; i.e. all tables, desks, blocks, floor tiles and vents, etc.

Don't forget about:
1. the "holding room" for crafted items while moving rooms.
2. multi floor bases
3. and my personal gripe/wish: make the furniture more scaled to actual player size. I have a char that is 7' tall and still needs a booster chair to sit at the SG meeting table!

Not to mention the office chairs that are reminiscent of the furniture at a child's tea party.

As I often say on this forum, seek solutions that are useful to many situations.
Simply: Don't delete items when they're picked up from a room, put them back in inventory.
So there we have a general improvement that can allow you to shuffle rooms, but can also alow you to remove things from the plot for longer periods of time if you choose. eg, we can swap out the Tech Generator for an Arcane one, then swap back in a month without re-crafting. It also helps prevent griefing, since someone can trash the room but not cost us Salvage from crafted items; or in kinder non-griefing terms, it makes the editor more forgiving.
See the improvement?
Also, there's a lot of potential problems using something only in the editor, as opposed to a permanent inventory. For example, you risk being unable to shuffle an item into the room because of pathing code. You also would have to worry about held items when you leave the editor (and remember, you can leave the editor unwillingly thru crashes, so you can't just put a warning "are you sure you want to lose the held items?")
Make more items stackable. I would have liked to use the floor tile in my med room but can't put anything on it. Other things like bookshelves, or anything with a flat top surface should be able to have something small enough to fit the surface stacked on it.
I would also like to see wall mounted monitors and a wider variety of rotating images available to be shown on monitors, maybe have a different image loop play for each room type.
I would like to see bars, bar stools, pool tables, pinball games, and pretty much all the stuff you find in Pocket D.
I know this sounds slightly stupid, but it would come in handy more than most would think. (Especially for RPers.)
** I would like a way to place/create plaques in the SG bases. **
We have them around the city for people to read, why not in the base. We could use them to "designate" rooms.
i.e. "Welcome to the Lounge, please make yourself comfortable."
or
"Welcome to the Teleporter Room, designed by [Name here]."
I think little things like that would be neat. Hopefully it won't be a hard thing to implement.
Er, thanks eveyrone!

How about "holiday themed" decorations, such as wreaths and Christmas trees for winter, jack o'lanterns and cobwebs for Halloween, etc.?
Some of the holiday decorations could be available to any SG, while others might require earning a specific SG badge before they could be bought and installed. For example, one of the nicer Halloween decorations might require that 13 SG members complete the Croatoa TF in SG mode.
Some of these decorations (such as cobwebs for magic-themed rooms) might be appropriate year-round, but other could be automatically sold back and uninstalled after the applicable holiday period is over. (Christmas trees being up in July is a bit tacky... )
And... changing back that thread title.

I'd like to see alternative ways of unlocking base items that currently force you to grind for badges and/or pvp to earn them. Not all of us care for one or either of those playstyles and shouldn't be forced into doing things that we don't consider fun just to get needed base upgrade items.
Not sure if t his has been mentioned but how about some "windows?" The idea being that there woudl be a see through wall that could have several decorative paramaters to make it either a building window, house window, space station window, etc... Then outside the window could be a wall several feet away that simulates the outdoors? Or maby some kind of standard outdoor panoramas that look like an outdoor view of COH/COV.
For example, if your base is a space station, then the outside could be a giant starfield. If it's suposed to be in Steel canyon then the outside would look like a panoramic view of SC wrapped around your base. If it's an apartment building or house then the appropriate outdoor environment could be used.
Right now the bases feel clausterphobic and isolated. something like this could make them feel more in a world, instead of 3,000 feet underground.
I would like to see a seperate area off the original map -where you could place a room temporarily -while you relay out your base. One of the problems is if your entire base is not layed ou in advance you end up with small rooms in odd places just to accomidate an additional TP -or storage area that you need, I see it constantly in base after base I visit.
we have sewer layouts -how about the options for large pipes to run through the space overhead.
Many sgs would love to have the mansion feel -thick velvet curtains, suits of armor, perhaps even coats of arms that show the sg symbols.
I'd love to see a winding staircase that would just apear to go up to a second story with a black cut out at the top -so there apears to be an opening just for the illusion of additional space.
Perhaps an event or series of events where all SG's on all servers can compete. Not Cross-Server but each SG can compete against other SG's.
My idears:
Have new recipes drop that require various salvage items, could be rare, common, uncommon. These would be massive recipes, involving hundreds of ingredients, and dozens of various recipes, enhancements, and inspirations to complete a master recipe. You would need a base of friends and maybe some coalition help to collect them all.
A completed recipe would give base keepers access to requesting a developer team to spec the base for up to two hours. Non-Standard Wish list items could be added, water effects, fog, fixed doorways, colored spotlights and anything else a base could want/need, without actually making anything new.
