This is just another way for Gold Companies to spam us with new accounts for 14 days. Thanks. I would think they could somehow limit functions with a trial like WoW -- simple solution would be to disable /tells from trial accounts. Don't know if that could be done, but they do it in a few other games as well.

The least they could do is have a credit card required, it would be a little tiny deterent for RMT toons then. I do like the idea of limiting functionality on trials though...
The free 14 day trial was going on during i9 at mmorpg.com. I know for a fact, because I played 2 free trials before I started paying for this game. I am sure people will raise their flame throwers at the fact that I used 2 trials, but to me, 14 days wasn't long enough to be sure that I really wanted to make a long term commitment to this game. (I was playing strictly villainside which most likely had a huge impact on my waffling)
I am sure glad that the people who are in charge of these things at Co* aren't so ignorant as to think that only gold sellers use the free trials or I would never have discovered just how great Co* is.
I don't just go buy an MMO off the shelf because it has a purty picture. If no trial is available, I simply won't play it. I am not a big fan of throwing money away on a crappy MMO. Vanguard for instance. I believed the hype and pre-ordered. I really screwed myself there. Vanguard was the most unoriginal and lack luster POS it has ever been my misfortune to encounter.
Sorry for interrupting your rants about gold sellers, please continue.
EDIT: I had to install the firefox plugins but I did watch the viddy and I have 2 things to say; 1) It was really nice. 2) I want the computer that whoever made that video was using, because I have yet to see an invasion that isn't in slideshow mode.

Totally agree, that vid was well done and way awesome. It made me wish there was a way to have that playing in my SG base so we could have a "staff meeting" and prepare to rock a Pylon Raid!!

All I can say is that video is a fake or they did something to it because no one is really getting FPS like that during the zone invasions. It was funny how that dumb reporter and camera man gets blown to bits though.

The FPS hits are caused by "softer" hardware builds when many players and many Rikti in the same location. You wouldn't see much of a hit in the clip with so few avatars and powers rendering.
Besides, don't you think they probably have some top-notch hardware in Los Gatos and/ or Austin?

If you look to the title bar of your browser, you'll see it's a no cookies page. I get the same thing everytime MMORPG.com gets linked here. Rather annoying for a site that wants to get linked to, but what can you do but shrug and move on.
Thank goodness -- i've gotten many pms on mmorpg.com for trial keys and referrals.

Ya know, im waiting for someone to come up with a really good 30 second clip that could air on Cartoon Networks' Adult Swim. (I only have extended basic cable). I would think that it would fit more with Adult Swim then maybe G4, but ive never really seen G4.
Plus I believe that adult swim would be cheaper to advertise and still get good viewer numbers.
