I am just getting a chuckle at the thought of all the super jumpers breaking gravity and being stuck in orbit of the moon.
We can all just stand there and point and laugh as they float by. -

I am starting to think that people like cambios and futurias are employed by NCSoft to bring out the true feelings of the player base. Nothing gets people posting their opinions faster than a complete retard blathering about the horrors of system "x". -
I don't have anything specific to add, I'd just like to say you've done a great job here.

The free 14 day trial was going on during i9 at mmorpg.com. I know for a fact, because I played 2 free trials before I started paying for this game. I am sure people will raise their flame throwers at the fact that I used 2 trials, but to me, 14 days wasn't long enough to be sure that I really wanted to make a long term commitment to this game. (I was playing strictly villainside which most likely had a huge impact on my waffling)
I am sure glad that the people who are in charge of these things at Co* aren't so ignorant as to think that only gold sellers use the free trials or I would never have discovered just how great Co* is.
I don't just go buy an MMO off the shelf because it has a purty picture. If no trial is available, I simply won't play it. I am not a big fan of throwing money away on a crappy MMO. Vanguard for instance. I believed the hype and pre-ordered. I really screwed myself there. Vanguard was the most unoriginal and lack luster POS it has ever been my misfortune to encounter.
Sorry for interrupting your rants about gold sellers, please continue.
EDIT: I had to install the firefox plugins but I did watch the viddy and I have 2 things to say; 1) It was really nice. 2) I want the computer that whoever made that video was using, because I have yet to see an invasion that isn't in slideshow mode. -
Getting the nictus mission was one of my favorites. It was well... cool

Now just pray that she doesn't take an interest in the forums or all your carefully laid plans are shot!

You calling me out Janlee???
Yeah I believe this is bad for in game. Yeah I think such things most be earned.
However a market place for that exist its called e-bay they don't need to advertise it in game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which doesn't mean that they don't know about it and shut it down. Try it, auction an account on ebay and see if you have an account to auction at the end of a week. -

I actually would have liked no announcements at all, so each invasion event caught us "unaware". Given the way the event unfolds a player not wishing to participate would still have plenty of time to leave the zone before being attacked.
Global channels and the like would pass along info on what zones were being invaded for players actively seeking out the events.
But if an announcement must be made, I'd prefer new tech that didn't put it into chat channels at all but rather put it into an unobtrusive icon that would blink when an invasion started. Click the icon and a pop-up alerts you to all unfolding invasion events. Close the pop-up when done. Simple. And if you ignore the icon altogether it automatically stops blinking after a few moments but changes to a different color (not RED) to note it has "unread" messages.

Hmm I like that idea. -

This lights up all my tabs, no matter what. Badge channel tab? Nothing new there, just spam. PM tab? Nothing new there, just spam. The three chat panels I have open? Same information in all three. Tuesday morning's shutdown alert? Ignored because it looks like the spam.
Your lack of caring doesn't mean it's a stupid, unfriendly design, and that it shouldn't be fixed.

Couldn't agree more. Just this morning I had rolled a new toon and was working on street cleaning in Atlas Park when invasion messages started rolling in. I glanced at them to make sure I wasn't going to be stuck in an invasion during the hours when there is maybe 3 or 4 people running around in atlas. Nope, they were mostly villain side. So I continue my hellion clearing and poof I got shut down. I didn't even see the maintenance warning because now it is just more red lost in the noise of invasion spam.
I guess the people mocking those who don't like it have no friends or active sg, because it is sheer hell trying to follow any conversation in the chat windows when the invasions start rolling. I wouldn't mind so much if the windows would actually scroll like they should instead of:
click.. up a line. click.. up line. click zooom!!! Where the hell did my place disappear to!!?!?!? And if you do manage to find the spot you want then BLAMMO! another redundant red spam slaps you back down to the bottom of the chat window again. -

"Punished," eh? Well, to use your term, if you're being punished, it's not because you thought of a name first, it's becasue your account was inactive for 3 months or more.
It's not heavy handed at all, it's reasonable. The simple solution for you would be to activate your account every three months and preserve your name rights.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the current policy is fine, under level 6. No sweat. But there are people saying that lvl 35 or under some even say 50s and under. I don't think I am overreacting when I say that is heavy handed (some people are even demanding names be stripped from active accounts!?!?!), especially with red names stating specifically that the most names regained would be from chars 5 and under.
As I stated before the ONLY people that can make an informed decision on what level range would net the most names are the people with the data. IE not a bunch of forum dwellers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Uhhh.... No. There's no screwing of anyone going on with this. Only inactive accounts are affected. If the account is inactive, they're not playing, so they lose nothing (unless they come back, but this pointhas been belaboured ad nauseam). It has nothing to do with who thought of what, when.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is no guarantee that the ubername of enlightenment will become available, And people demanding that the lvl be changed when the devs said explicitly that there would be diminishing returns above lvl 6 are just being doom seeders over a very non doom issue.
I am not pointing fingers at any individuals here, I am simply stating that a lot of these posts are raving for stricter policies that would indeed effect me, as I am new, have many low level alts, and am prone to deactivating my accounts for several months at a time due to rl concerns or simple boredom.
So yeah, if I thought of the name first, I would be getting punished by having it stripped from me if these heavy handed policies were enforced. -
Just because someone thought of the name first is reason for screwing them I guess.

[ QUOTE ]
Oh, I don't doubt it for a second. There are people who will do ANYTHING to be a pain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well there is nothing stopping them from getting a name and levelling to 6. So this won't effect that at all. If someone is such a malcontent that they camp names to be jerks (which in my opinion would be pretty useless since you never know if anyone even cares or gets upset by your griefing) then they will take the time to get their name holders to lvl 6 -
[ QUOTE ]
Theres gonna be a lot of people just getting their toons to lvl 7 then let them sit around collecting dust
[/ QUOTE ]
Which I assume is the expected behavior if they want to keep their names.
Is this a bad thing? How can you be sure that the dust they are collecting is due to name camping? How many alts do you have that would fall under that category of gathering dust by your definition?
My account is less than 2 months old, and I already have more alts than I can level up in a reasonable amount of time. Granted, I tend to play them to 4 just to get a feel for the AT and then play the one that I like/suits my playstyle for longer periods. Then if I get sick of looking at <flavor of enemy here> I will give them another go and make them a few levels.
I am definitely not going to let someone's opinion about what I should do with my alts change my play style. -
[ QUOTE ]
there are those that sit on names people want just to be jerks (name griefing?), but I don't see that being feasable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really!?!? Thats some serious passive aggression there. -
[ QUOTE ]
these individuals have the creativity and imagination to think outside of the box and come up with a different solution that could better serve Cryptic's and NCsoft's customers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are we reading the same thread here? Many of these suggestions are incredibly heavy handed. If I have 10 toons on my account that are lvl 20 or below ( or much higher if some people had it their way) should I be punished by having my name stripped from me when RL interferes with playing this game?
I hate to break it to you, but the people with the data that specifically says that the below lvl 6 will yield the most names are the only ones that can make an informed decision.
And my comment about the . names is simply my opinion, which I can post on the boards just like you can. There is no reason to act all surprised as if I am the first person to ever post an opinion that you disagree with. Besides I am so sick of seeing people who can't come with their own name and use a . to spoof it. Its lame and unimaginative and in certain other games i could mention would get your name set to default 000001 for impersonation. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think the policy is unreasonable. I do think that anybody that thinks names are scarce is just being unimaginative.

QFT
On my 10-15 toons If a name I was going for is taken, it isusually because it is a blatantly obvious name that suits the power sets. Once I got past that and started being creative with my names I have had no trouble with them being taken at all.
I think the people really getting worked up over this are the ones that are so imaginitive that throwing a . in their name is a viable solution.
I am so glad that I come up with names that I won't see several people running around with . versions of them -
I am glad the cap is low because I have a tendency to play a game for a few months, get bored, play something else, then come back when I miss the old game. If it was 35+ I would always lose my names because I am a chronic altaholic

Sheesh, sounds very similar to an Anarchy Online alien invasion.

Is there any way to re-size the map window?
I do mean re-size, not rescale.
I keep my map undocked and off the the side at .75 for easy navigation in those pesky mine/tunnel maps, and I would like to be able to resize the window at the same scale to get the bigger picture. Kind of a jury-rigged mini/max map at a keystroke. scale sort of works but every time it scales back down it moves the position of my map back to the center of the screen.
Barring a resize option, any way to define the window position for when it scales back down? -
I have a char builder, but in a word, it sucks. What builder is the preferred amongst you veterans?
