well im really happy it was you and not someone that never even visits our section of the forums

*sniffle* I'm not that much of a stranger here, am I? I mean, I do post here once every few months...
Hmmm let me rephrase it then to sound less Snarky I couldn't think of a better person , that is more involved with theCoH Fan Art community than TA .
Not that we have anything against mantid even if he has a scary bug for an avatar
hey TA
First of its so coooool that you are doing this, I gotta say it rocks. Its important that you get to feature some of the less high profile artist and any up and coming artist, but I'm sure you have that in the bag. I love reading the not just the interviews but the whole thing and just reading this thread gives me a postive vibe. Thanks mate.

What's scary about someone watching a really slow tennis match?
Be well, people of CoH.
Tennis fans by their very nature are creepy

TA I hope SyrusB is on your list to be interviewed, otherwise your balls might not be intact!

Uhhh yeah, I think you got about a good year of interviews with just the Envisionaries alone, Like LJ, Syrus, Cres, Alex and Rox. John Byrne would be great, Dark Archaic and FuzzyWuzzyWombat are two of my favorites. There is also John Byrne. RoseRed has a cool deviant art page too, I talk to her and see if she would be interested. Don't forget about John Byrne. And of course MRs Bates, Bolt, Shuler, McKinney, Graver, Juggs and the rest. I am also a big fan of John Byrne. Here is another thought: If a lot of people use a specific program, for example Bryce, maybe a KPT rep to talk about some new features in upcoming versions, or how many different ways that program is being used in the industry and whatnot. Did I mention John Byrne?
DUnno who John Byrne is but the others sound great :P
cool
Hey guys.
Really wanna keep this thread going for feedback and comments and suggestions.
Lately I am getting the vibe from comments that this has an elite vibe to it or a 'clique'. Maybe even a fanart 'high five' so i really need any and all feedback you guys have for it. Doesn't matter what the context is.
Hows the section in the scoop working? Good? Bad? repetitive? Elite? Any more suggestions or critiques? Keep in mind i am doing this for the community so if it doesn't work for you guys, it doesn't work for me either! I am hoping you guys read each article and enjoy it,get something from it or whatever.
Please, please let me know in any case! I just want to make it the best it can be for all of us!
TA.. honestly...
I fail to see how this particular section of the scoop isnt "exclusive".... if you arent part of "COH Fan art", either as a collector, artist, or fan.....
you arent going to be a part of that section....
its not like we have a Champion art section, and a Virtue art section....
theres only one... and everyone interested in art, knows to come here.
Think honestly to yourself (not just the placating scooper trying to please everyone).... how impartial/not impartial can you be?
if there are people outside the "fan art section" that tell you about their art, would you say "uh, sorry, its not in the fan art section...."
????
Ehhh the city scoop newspaper is cliquesh , I doubt too many of us would be looking it over if you weren't handling the arts section :P
The titles being handed out on the forum only add to that feeling (nothing against you big guy im just not in favor of suddenly having a pink lion in an otherwise normal pride)
That being said im sorta in agreement with Solos about having space devoted to someone that collects art especially when id love to know more about the folks that actually do the art
Id love to know where various artists studied and why they use the techniques they use .
an art collector can always contribute art to be used as place art throuh the periodical but im not sure I'll spend too much time reading about why they collect art .
Other than that I have greatly enjoyed the interviews with artists as well as Bayanis piece about conventions
I don't think it's cliquish. Just competitive. The only thing I might suggest is to maybe avoid repeat artists in the featured art of the week section. Maybe you don't even have to do featured new art. Dig through the last few pages of your favorites on DA. Just rattling off thoughts.
I don't think you will run out of artists any time soon either. I mean, look at the CityOfArtists DA page. How many weeks could the regulars alone get you through?
You ask good questions. I like that and it's hard to do.
I like it the way it is...
1) If you want to avoid the clique feeling... invite people. Give more "how to" manuals about collecting... or even post up some tutorial about drawing and such. Getting new people involved might help that.
2) Hold a contest or two.. or even a JAM, that way more people might be brought in to the mix.
3) The interviews are cool, but maybe have a rapid-fire psychological test at the end...
red - blue!
big - ego
Juggertha - Bah!
lol
I agree with Turboski. I had doubts and worries in the beginning, but I have READ the scoop and now understand that the creators ARE working hard to spread the loving to as many people as they can.
Now, I believe in the scoop because I know where I fit in. I'm not the most popular guy here, nor am I the most hated (I think) but the Scoop team saw my Sudoku puzzle and used it. to me, that was an act that showed that they are spreading this around and are taking in anything that is submitted and using it if it's good.
I just can't argue against that sort of acceptance. I just can't
Once again, TA I thank you for the scoop, your input, and your sincereness in what you do.
Nuff said from me on this.
Please no psyche test! I'd fail! "F"!
(Sounding like Crocker on Fairly Oddparents)[hey, I got a kid]
Red - EVIL
Big - EVIL
Juggy - OH! that cute cartoon girl in the hillbilly cartoon series
PvP - EVIL CRUEL VILLAINS! (banging head on desk, wall, floor)
Sorry, the post made me do it....
I read Solo's response in the discussion section and I can understand where he is coming from even though my initial reaction was distaste ("a way for people from the Fan Art section to give each other e-high fives." Bah! ) That being said, I am in the same mindset as Dragonberry, I would rather see an interview with an artist than a collector. We have so many talented artists here I would love to read more about them.
I think the prior weeks interview with LJ was outstanding, good job on that one TA. I learned so much about someone I thought I knew and thats the sign of a truly great interview. We need more piece's like that one.
Are you guys trying to hint that I suck as a collector???
BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol

Not at all! but you sometime sound like a sheep...... QFT

I think that artist interviews would be much more interesting then collector interviews. However, I can see how collector interviews might be easier to get, and sometimes needed to fill in on short notice...

agreed here!
Ok excellent thanks guys, thats what i needed.
By the collector thing i was just trying to cover both sides of it is all but i get why that would hinder it in a way.
Was going to post up some tutorials i've seen around as well, how would that sound?
How about a round robin question spread out among artists and collectors, you could have one question gaged to both and then have say 5 or 7 of us answer it... These should be technical questions, so that the reader gets more out of them, than say an answer to a poll. Here's an example:
Artist Question: How do you go about inking your pieces? What materials do you use, and what do you like or dislike about the process?
Collector's Question: Can you give tips to what you think makes your most popular toon, what it is? What part of their background would you like to see depicted? And what 2 pieces would you say is closest to how you seem them?
These questions could come from the community, kind of like a little press conference..
Great job on the fan art section TA! Like others have said I am glad you are the one doing this, after all you practically invented this forum.
