City Scoop - Fanart section!

I dont know. In all honesty I think the whole City Scoop is cliquish anyways. I mean look at the people who were asked to do it. I think with the exception of Marcian Tobay, all the contributors are members of the Cartel. I understand that that means they were more vocal in a lot of things and perhaps have a better grasp on how to word things or whatever.

the only names I could agree with that on, are Ath and Liquid, though perhaps I dont frequent the right boards to know who is the "in crowd"... from what I gather, most of the people involved werent so much "asked". Rather those are the people who, when the idea was spreading around said "Dude, im so in on this..."

yea.. anyone but TA, god that guy is just so... damned.... popular!

I mean... everyone knows him! I hate having read stuff posted by people I know... I come here to read boring, badly written forum gossip by people I couldnt care three straws for!...

seriously TA, you werent asked because you're part of a clique. you were asked because your a dedicated community member, you're well known... and the guys at the scoop figured you would do the job well.

I Agree with Empress

Also if you quit tomorrow TA they would have to find a very very good replacement or we'd tear the newcomer apart

You'll find that most of the sub groups don't like the idea of an outside group saying who will represent them or sticking their nose where it dosn't belong .

Things like Hertz's visit to the PvP forums and old Lady Whatshername coming to the art forum to bad mouth us over not using some art fansite are prime examples of ways to win over sub groups of the community

I think your doing fine cover the art on the scoop , but Id like more indepth coverage on the artists .

Id love to see a piece from beginning to end (sorta how graver posts a rough sketch and then updates every so often showing progress )

a contest or two where by someone could win art would be nice as well but would have to be exceedingly random or you fall into having to read view entries (bleh)

you know, i didnt even notice...

TA, is there part of the art section that talks about "Contests going on" ??

sort of like the "latest art pieces" section mixed with the server events notice...

It just seems like theres always SOME contest going on around here... it wouldnt need any sort of interview or anything... but a little heading with what contests are currently running/open/ finishing up... etc.

with that in the pipe, it would be a simple thing to add in something every couple of issues or so about who won what, and show off the winning entry.

its something thats sort of from a collectors perspective, but its really all about the artists (might be a good tie in to the latest artist interview even..)

I dont know... you said ideas/suggestions.... that came out.

It may be a bit much for some to have both an artist and a collector at the same time - maybe spread em out, use the collector types as fillers or whatever.

I like the idea of maybe some quick q/a with a few art fans answering the same thing. And maybe just a link to the DA or other site for some as fill in would be another idea, too. Like, favorite artist sites, favorite tutorial sites, source material, etc.

Yanno what?

As much as I'd LOVE to see an 'art collector' section... maybe it'd be better if our interviews focused on our fave artists, or any good new artists that maybe haven't seen much exposure.

I think it's good that an art collector is DOING the feature though.

I haven't been able to do much as an artist or a collector in the time I've been here. I might be able to to give you an interview on what not to do as an artist. Other than that I'm sorry to say that I feel almost useless with regards to having anything good to add to the City Scoop.

There is nobody better for the job than you TA, nobody. When I think of the art forums I think of you. Seeing your posts in the Justice forum and checking out your gallery is the reason I discovered this section. So many, many months later let me say, Thanks!

I agree with kilo and ironik. TA does know alot of people and he IS very gracious. well, okay he can be goofy at times too, but that's what everyone loves about TA and makes him the perfect person for the job.

TA, by those who know you, they can honestly say that you are a person with whom others can feel comfortable warming up too. You are friendly and got a head on your shoulder that doesn't bobble back and forth. You are genuine, you really are respected by people of all ages.

So don't doubt yourself, you do a good job. and don't listen to people who spout off against you without really knowing you. it just shows their ignorance.

TA!

I've only skimmed the City Scoop but I think that interview with both Artist and Collectors would be cool.. Maybe even interview the Artist and the collector to talk about the piece that was done. Maybe even some commertaty on Commissions vs "free" art.

I don't think it's cliquish. Just competitive.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well competitiveness is one of the things that makes it look cliqueish. You see the same thing happen with the PvP community.

Sometimes these forums just seem a little unfriendly to new posters and ideas, too. Its not something you all mean to do, I'm sure. I know of a couple posters who've tried to just share something here and received nothing but critiques they weren't looking for, so they avoid this section now feeling like they were "attacked" for being a new poster.

*shrug*

Really? I've never seen that happen, except by posters who aren't regulars, who have the most to say (unkind that is)...

Actually, people can be very kind here. A person can come here and even if they have acted in a boorish manner, eventually they'll be allowed to stay as long as they behave and learn from their mistakes.

Not every community will take in a wolf in sheeps clothing, but when they do, it's a community to be respected, even by the wolf.

Sure, yeah, shes the bad guy.

Yo yo, peoples, let's not start that feud again... that would be bad.

*yawn* Cry more please

Lady whatshername often sticks her nose where it isn't wanted or needed .

That site had major issues and the general consensous by the folks that actually post art was that the majority preferred Deviant Art for our posting if City of Heroes didn't have an official site .

so yeah some stranger coming in here to give us a piece of her mind for not instantly agreeing that anything done by lighthouse is teh awesome is a pretty worthless use of humanity.

its also funny that the person we are disscussing as well as the person defending her seem to have little cliquesh forum titles for cozying up to the community relations folks .

OH wait, now I'm remembering... deja vu... *sits quietly and watches for next volley*

Can I still be interviewed for what not to do as an artist?

*watches his futile attempt to diffuse the situation wither and die before his very eyes*

Ok, seriously now, I'll do the interview.
