I see we SHARE a love of capitalizing RANDOM parts of our POSTS.
HOWEVER you are incorrect. The ARGUEMENT that if you pay your fifteen bucks a month you can PLAY the game any way you want does not apply to using EXPLOITS, which 80eightyeight and Dominus allege this method of "farming" PvP reputation falls under. I happen to agree with him, although I suspect the Dev team's usual aversion to everything PvP will prevent it from ever being addressed.
Not much of a PvPer myself, could you explain how the timer work and what it means? I'm always confused about whether it means they defeat me or I defeat them.
Whatever 88's beef is regarding farming for badges, he's got his right to express his opinions. Frankly, among all the most common farming (badges, exp, influence, enhancement, prestige), I'm quite open to them all except for PL (subclass of exp farming) - but that's my beef and whole other can of worms. I just stop preaching about it 'cause farming will go on with or without me.
When you defeat someone or they defeat you. You have to wait 10 minutes before you can kil them or they kill you to get points. You must not be on their defeat list and they cant be on yours.
Thanks for the info.
I guess it would be nice if the devs would add their names to your list if you defeat them. 8/

A slightly more efficient way of farming rep. Works best with two accounts.
Work on only one toon at a time. Have that toon kill one of the other toons. Log out the dead toon and log in another. It takes about 5 target toons for the timer to run out on the first toon.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what I did for my villain main, with only 5 heroes. My only recommendation is that if you're going dual-box/account to farm for this, use at least 6, maybe even 7 targets, as it was my experience that I still had to do a bit of clock-watching to not make the kills too soon. Having even 1 extra target may have made it so I could just relog and not worry about waiting for the full 10 minutes to pass...
It may also help to turn the graphics settings down to minimum on the box loading the targets... makes loading times go much faster.
Oh, and hey, 8088... I got my Forward Observer, Disruptor, and LBW2 badges, a jar of polish, and a nice, soft cloth... you got your chapstick and kneepads yet?
This is not a personal attack, because you are not your writing style. Nor BTW do I care if you farm something in PvP, either way; PvP's broken, so who cares?
That said, I don't understand half of the sentences in your guide (to the point that, seriously, I could not follow several of the instructions if I wanted to). And I'm even fluent in Supatroll. If you know somebody who's good with english that can do an edit on that, I'm sure it'd be more useful.

So propose a fix.
[/ QUOTE ]
Get rid of the PvP badges OR implement a higher death timer (i.e. 24 hours)
or
Keep the badges "as is," acknowledging their uselessness outside of collecting... and institute on infinite, yet eventually downgraded, rep point system. This way, Rep can mean something. Now, once you hit 400, you get a badge. You're done. Yay. Your "worth" isn't measured at all in any meaningful or rewarding way.
Bill-
Thanks for a well written and informative post!
Nice job and thank you for taking out of your busy day to help others in their quest of badges.
(Remember, the forums have a lovely ignore feature you can use to make unpleasantness disappear like magic! *grin*)

I did read his post. I read it closely. Just because he put a disclaimer in there does not mean he isnt cheapening the only PvP reward of any permanence in the game. Nor does it mean he is not maneuvering around a system that was put in place to deter this exact bahavior.
[/ QUOTE ]
All he's doing is posting a way to get the badge for those who don't like PvP. As I said, if you have an idea to "Fix" the PvP rep system, then share it. Rather than whine, try doing something that will fix what you consider to be broken. Also consider that his thread was not locked because of what he posted, but rather the flame war that came after.
So in short, rather than flame here, go create your own thread on why PvP rewards are broken.

If they don't like PvP, then why get a badge denoting you did it? Sounds like like horse <bleep!> to me. Oh I guess they did it, but not in the spirit of the game or people that actually do like to pvp. Way to encourage more cheapening and lack or foresight within the pvp part of the game.
Wow...you people take PvP too seriously. If someone sees that a badger has a PvP badge, does that matter for anything at all? No. If someone looks and the badger has every badge in the game, does that mean anything? Yes. It means this person is dedicated to getting that amount of badges up. I have found that, truly, almost no PvPers care about badges or care about letting the opponent (heroes/villains)get badges. All you're truly doing while PvPing is attempting to beat the snot out of some cheap enemy that won't stop running away while working on a badge.

You kinda missed the whole point of the argument.
Slot more accuracies.
LOL@ all you sour grapers.
There are a ton of reasons why this guide is great for people. PvP is not for everyone. Badges are not for everyone. Live and let live.

Possibly for the Gladiator associated with it.

So they can farm heal badges with it.

@Mr. Magnifico
The Longbow Warden 2 gladiator given by the Disruptor badge allows various SGs to get the SG Healing badges. The SG Healing badges give various equipment that is useful for raids. The first SG Healing badge allows blues and greens to be purchaseable during a raid. The 2nd SG Healing badge makes available a piece of base equipment available that allows people that died in the raid to have more HP. The 3rd SG Healing badge allows break frees to be purchased during a base raid. Not all SGs have "healers" to obtain these badges normally and the disruptor badge makes it possible. Of course, Heroes have the Archmage of Agony glad to accomplish the same task as the Longbow Warden 2, but villains don't have such a gladiator.
There are also people that are inflicted with Pokemon Syndrome and most serious badgers have this particular condition to various degrees.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.
Seriously, you think that rep farmers are getting the disruptor badge so they can get items for base raids? You think they want anything to do with PVP? which is what base raids are, PVP.

Badgers might not want anything to do with PvP, but that doesn't mean anyone else in the SG isn't interested in PvP. Anyway I used the SG Healing badges as an excuse for my villain badger, but I used a healing farm using twilight grasp, ninjas, and a CoT pain crystal.

Well, it does come down to a very difficult badge for most to obtain, and impossible for some. The badge requirements need a looking at again by the Devs IMO.
I am Airman America... Super Hero... and I approve this message!
Yes, the Disruptor badge is hard to get with an Ice/Elec Blaster. Is not the best PVP build..

You forgot the worst part. If either of you kills the other before the timer is up, the timer RESETS.
And almost no one in a pvp zone waits before attacking again.
IMO, this behavior discourages normal pvping, because the behavior of the average person will destroy rep gain. (He killed me! I'm gonna get revenge!)
This means if you're trying for the badge by normally pvping, you have to try and NOT kill that person again until the 10 minutes are up (and survive for those 10 minutes), or you won't get anything.
Even worse, if you're teaming and pvping you get the rep split amongst the team. But any kills by the team on that person will reset the timer. You'd get more overall rep by not being teamed, and having even two people get a kill shot as they res. Maybe by the time the first person is done the timer is up.
Overall, I think the current system is about as bad as it can get. It, in effect, ENCOURAGES abusing the system if you want to gain rep, by making it so hard to gain it legitly.
(yes, this is a thread necro. But it's still relevant now.)
Culex's resistance guide
First, it seems to me that the second farm suggestion (using two accounts with multiple characters) will be faster and requires fewer trustworthy people than the first.
Second, I'm not terribly clear on why you'd want to do this, but... takes all kinds, I guess.
Third, I'm really not understanding all the complaints about this. These farmers are going into the PvP-capable part of the zone, so if you wanna attack them and insert yourself into it, you can. And I've been told--frequently, and loudly--that the zones are "anything goes". So what's your problem with this? "If the game allows it, it's fair game", right?
FYI, this badge can be had in about 5 hours.
We did this a month or so back for someone who wanted to get some heal farming done. Took the "agressor" and 2 of us lackeys cycling toons in.
If 2 people from your SG partake, youll likely get the 750 PvP Kills need for the fusion generator.

I a hard core dyed in the wool PvPer, who has a special place in his heart for the Disruptor badge. Thats why I am posting here. I could care less about heal farms or damage farms. I care about PvP. I care about PvP rewards. I care about badge hunter collecting in PvP zones. And I care about the state/health of PvP in this game in general.

So they may then move on to exploit number 2, the healing badge.
