Ex Libris Needs Your Help

Knowledge has power, but it doesn't help a person deal with those who don't have the knowledge. It doesn't stop you from calling those who are ignorant, buffoons!

Knowledge is power!

Ah, follow this logic. A library provides knowledge-------knowledge is power---------power corupts----------coruption is evil------therefore, Libraries are evil.

Is that the Earth-1 or Earth-2 Batman?

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually it's the All-Star Batman so it's actually a "God Dam Batarang"

Oh and since I haven't seen it yet (I read fast though) let me welcome you to the friendliest part of the forums.

And I wanted to thank you for the your history ... I should be reading what you put up on Ex Libris per say right after this ... but one thing I couldn't pin point in your statement is how old you could be ... with your work, your degree and stuff you could/should be in your late 20s ... with your game references you should be 45+ ... but I just thought that was interesting .. It isn't really a question ...

Oh and btw ... watch out for that Thor's Assassin fellow ... if you happen to have some artsy skills ... he will have you drawing for him in no time flat Oh and now he has corrupted a multitude of others around here ... so you probably won't see them coming.

Welcome and I think you could be pleasantly impressed by the creativity of our little community.

Sounds almost like a possible origin for Yomiko Readman aka "The Paper", the heroine from the Original Anime Video "Read or Die".

R.O.D is an action-laden suspense modern day scifi thriller, with a large touch of James Bond-ish style music and visual sequences, and great character interaction.

And ironically, Yomiko is from "The Library"... literally "Ex Libris"

Info about the series and other links at:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...ime.php?id=819

Read or Die (OAV)

Related anime: R.O.D -The TV- (sequel)

Alternative title: R.O.D.

Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)

Genres: Adventure, Drama, Historical, Mystery, Science Fiction, Shounen

Plot Summary: Yomiko Readman is "The Paper" a secret underground operative for the British Library with the incredible power of complete control over paper, including the ability to make it solid as steel. She is called to duty when a book that could spell the end of the world is stolen, and she must take it back. Going with two other operatives, she attempts to take it back and save the world.

If you haven't seen this OVA and follow on TV series, I highly recommend that you watch it.

Is Crazy Climber the game where you have two joysticks and have to climb up a building while avoiding falling items and things in windows?

[/ QUOTE ]

You are 100% correct, one joystick controlled one arm and leg, the other controlled the other..

Ok there have been some design questions posed to me so let me take a moment and grant some insight to part of what ID (Izzy Dubois) is all about.

I don't want to spoil much of the story content so more will come as I have some of the finer details taken care of, but on a professional level I see Izzy (Ex Libris) Dubois as a Librarian or Archivist by day, which allows her to study documents and books that others may not have access to, and by night a bounty hunter/crime fighter.

She is neutral in that she is neither hero or villain but more for hire at her own discretion. I don't really see her as a flashy super type but more mysterious and shadowed, I do like the comments made on the Mercurial lineage, that was very interesting to me and hits like quicksilver to my veins.

Don't forget here we are dealing with a major nerd, doesn't mean she can't have a bit o style to her but all the same she is a nerd to the core.

She doesn't seem too concerned that her finger nails match her chapstick.

If any of you want more details feel free to PM, I have started a folder for art submissions so please if you do submit something sign it in the submission so I know what belongs to whom.

Thanks,

Ex Libris

Sort of like if Willow had been chosen to become the Slayer instead of Buffy.

Excellent.

Kinda of what I was thinking, a crime fighting librarian but...

Makes me think of Indiana Jones/Lara Croft-type character, who retrieves ancient artifacts and tomes for hire. Would be wearing glasses (sterotypical of librarians lol) and dresses conservatively. But there is little to go on of age (still in elementry school or was it just backstory?), origin (mutant/natural/tech/sci/magic), or abilities. Is she a scrapper? She has outbursts in classes, sounds like one or maybe a blaster.

Is this where we are supposed to post avatars for ya, Ex?

if so, here's one I couldn't resist making after reading your "knowledge is power" remark!

I totally need to find that DVD of Schoolhouse Rock now. There are a bunch of the Science ones I never saw. I remember being so disappointed when they took those off the air, and MAN we could have used them for the last 20 years, just look at kids test scores and comprehension these days... :/

I think I may try putting that avatar to a toon, actually...

Hi Ex Libris,

Welcome to the forum

Here what I envisioned when I read Izzy's story and what I think her alter ego could look like in game:

Well, with the SHR suggestion I made ExLibris on test. Mind / Sonic Controller (though I didn't really go around with the toon at all, just got screenies).

Yeah I know. You show me where the sexy Jay has put in a belly shirt that goes, you know, OVER THE BELLY instead of ending under the boobage, and I'll put it there!

Plus, on the short shirt option? It put the chest emblem on the pocket-area, instead of the front, and I was disappointed by that.

thoroughly agree!
constantly dissapointed in the little things... like why we cant mix and match detail patterns (at least on the "tops with skin) options... it would be nice to be able to go Tops with skin>Desire>fire stripe...

and such like.
