In your introduction you said the following:

My favorite games are Galaga and an obscure game called Crazy Climber.

[/ QUOTE ]
Is Crazy Climber the game where you have two joysticks and have to climb up a building while avoiding falling items and things in windows?

If so, I loved that game. I only go to play when I went to one of my friends houses because their father was a repair man for arcade games.

Anyway, welcome to the community. Pull up a chair and enjoy the good times.

I don't remember it being two joysticks (though it may have been in some places and not in others - instead having buttons?) but yeah I remember that game was a blast.

I had the first arcade in San Diego open up about 2 blocks from my house, and a 2nd right next to my school. Talk about awesome

Welcome Jill! But now you'll be Ex Libris, so forgive us if we don't call ya 'Jill' much anymore.

I am gonna try a submission. Although, I must admit, except for the verbal outbursting, closet hiding, bookishness, you don't list any powers...

But I'm gonna try anyway.

Hmm, perhaps you could pass along that message to the devs, so they can empower us with knowledge about the hard numbers behind the game?

Or maybe they're deliberately keeping the knowledge all to themselves so they don't have to share the power...

From that page on the right:
[ QUOTE ]
The Crazy Climber arcade game featured a gentleman trying to climb up multi-story skyscrapers without safety equipment for no readily-apparent reason. His progress was hampered by opening and closing windows, inhospitable folks dropping flowerpots from their windows, and evil birds dropping... their natural ammunition. At higher levels, truly diabolical obstacles like live electrical wires and movie-inspired giant gorillas were added to the mix. The game's most notable feature was its two-joystick control scheme, in which each stick controlled one of the climber's two hands.

No, no... they're protecting you. You see, if they give you information about the underpinnings of the game, you'll acquire knowledge... and knowledge is power... and power corrupts... and corruption is a crime... and crime doesn't pay... so, you see, if the devs give you the hard numbers behind the game, you'll go broke.

Dear Ex_Libris,

In order to truly become the new community coordinator for City of Heroes/Villains, you must first correctly answer these questions three!

1) What... is your name?

2) What... Is your quest?

3) What... is the mean airspeed of a Batarang thrown by Batman, as he is descending upon a group of criminals (Who are known to be a superstitious and Cowardly lot)?

((Hi, All. New the Fourms, especially new to the RP forums (I haven't lurked here before), but this is too good an opportunity to pass up. Here goes. I tried to hit most of the themes from the intro story. These were the ones I picked up on: (Shakespeare, Classics (including character name), Escapism, Literature, Fantasy, Weaponry, Being/Non-Being, Physics?

Note: For super-duper continuity it could be Mercury instead of Hermes, but he really played up the trade bit of the portfolio he inherited from Hermes.))

Unknown to most, Hermes gets to pick a "Chosen" every 4 centuries or so. Shakespeare was the last one, and developed his gift of resonance with the Realm of Fiction (an etherial plane over which Hermes has stewardship) into Playwriting so intense, vibrant, and magical it may as well have been termed Dramaturgy.

It is now Isabelle DeBois' turn. She developed her resonance in various more practical ways, especially for a superhero. Her mastery of summoning the Ether than forms the Fiction Place allows her to:

Injure and Incapacitate others with Fiction Ether that fades as they disbelieve it.

Draw foes into "her story" temporarily causing them to fight for her side.

Surround herself and others in a bubble of Ether. If not participating, they're as removed from action as a narrator or chorus. If acting, the ether still causes them to be both there and not-there, limiting injury.

Eventually, she can even draw forth companions from Fiction itself to fight alongside her.

Since she's using her Chosen Powers to fight, her patron Hermes grants her secondary abilities over Speed and Healing.

((Game Mechanics: Magic Controller: Illusion Control / Kinetics))

((I'm not very creative at costume designs, but I was messing around and on teh female bodytype the "Cube" "Chest Detail" kind of looks like an open book if you color the the top part of the cube to match the background color.))

Given the little bit I had to go on... Ex Libris grew up into this!

Oh, I forgot. She has red hair due to the temper thing. Sorry 'bout that omission.

I hope you like it, and of course, all submissions become expressly consented for use*, Jill.

Ex Libris as I imagineered her...

I think she is still in her 4th grade......

Posted

well she WAS, certainly...

but there's no dates on that post, so it could very well be that she is older, now.

However, I like the idea of a Teen or youthful hero...

here's a quick little mock up of an idea (shes not gonna be 8... but she could be 11-12)
General idea

now, to explain, first there is the discription on this thread.... I like the glowing eyes... like awakened eyes to something beyond normal understanding. the tie would be more like an ascot, or even a minature ruff poking out of a stiff collar from the corset-ish vest....
I imagine that her classical leanings would bring about a costume reminicent of classic stage costumes.... blended into a modern, youthful aesthetic...
collars like this or like this... though fashioned, obviously to fit her. (I like the idea of keeping the masculine tones of those collars though, cause they are indicative of those time peroids and have a certain "strength" to them...)

and costumes something like this also come to mind... but I think it should be lighter, more fun, even coquettish (depending on her age)
