2) Can we change the urls to relative so that they don't force us onto the City of Villains boards? If you can't do than then please change them to City of Heroes instead. Most people use the heroes style and the villain colour combination would fail the "accessibility" tests we put our web sites through.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think relative urls of cityofheroes v. cityofvillains are only generated by the board for the listing of threads in the forum menus. Once any of us put a link in a thread, we have to choose heroes or villains and that link is hard coded.

However, if you go to My Home / Edit Display Preferences / Which style sheet... and choose City of Heroes (rather than Default), then you'll always get the blue background (the border might still be maroon). You may have to exit your browser and come back in for it to work. You may also have to login to both the heroes and villains versions of the boards. And you may have to clear cookies in order to do that (yeah, stupid boards). But once I did all that, I get the maroon background even for urls that have cityofheroes in them (I prefer the villains skin myself). So, it should work the other way around.

Hope that helps.

Now, a question regarding 'accessibility'... are you saying that the heroes' skin passes accessibility tests with its green links on a blue background? Isn't green-blue color blindness rather common?

Three quick things.

1. The guide listed for basic game play by Map_severed should be Changed to Tog, or _Tog_.
2. It's actually pretty much current through I7 now, but I'm having some trouble with the newest version. Hopefully, it will be current through I8, with better navigation, and a far less annoying "bookshelf" page, just in time for the release of I9, which will make it far out of date again because inventions is really gonna mess things up for it
3. Cool avatar, Mantid.

Got it updated, Tog.

May I offer a suggestion for your site? When I first visited it, I didn't realize I had to click on a book twice in order to get into the meat of the site. After clicking on a book once for a description of its contents, you may want to add to the initial text something like, "click on this book again in order to..."

Thanks. The text in the white board when page first loads does mention it, but I didn't know how to fix it at the time. The new version will change the text on a mouseover then go to the page when clicked. I build it at work in my down time, and this winter has had very little of it, so it's taking me a lot longer than I'd hoped.

My first short story (detective fiction) came out in Jan-2012. Other stories and books to follow, I hope. Because of "real writing". COH was a big part of that happening.

Zombie - Green/Red is the most common form of colour blindness btw. Blue....yellow? is the next most common, and finally total colour blindness. something like 15% of all men are red/green colour blind. and that concludes your biology lesson for today kids, now go kick some evil butt!

Though, keep in mind that changing your name like that is dangerous as some people could swipe your original name and you then couldn't go back to it. Happened to several people when they Cuppa-fied their name.

It can be done quite easily. Just delete "http//boards.cityofvillains.com" from all the links and it should work correctly. So, all the new links would look like this: "url=/showflat.php?Number=7529603#Post7529603"

The only problem I've found is that if you ever try to edit the post after you format the links like that then it will change some things. It will change all the "url=" codes to "a href=", add "target="_blank"", and then close it with "/a"...which breaks all the links. So, it works great, but once it is changed then you would have to fix the broken links if you ever edited that outline again in the future.

Example portion of first post, but with relative links:

This post contains an outline of the organization of the guides which are grouped by category in the following fifteen posts. Click on a section heading to go to the corresponding post.

If it weren't for the breaking of the links when editing, I'd do it. I've already edited many of the posts several times. And each post has a lot of links.

We might need the webmaster in on this to fix this. Heck, even the links in the dev digest forces me into the CoH skin (which I don't like). And the ability to override the CoH skin with the CoV skin just went missing in the the options page for me for a short while and just came back. <sigh>

Man, I just wish they'd get around to merging the two games into just one game and stop pretending they're two. Stop selling them separately. Stop having two websites where one gets more attention than the other. Stop having two bulletin boards with a less-than-perfect linking of the two boards. Just one board with two skin options and be done with it.

I was just suggesting that you change the outline, not all the sub-sections. Not having relative links in the outline is what's most intrusive, in my opinion.

You only have about 15 links in the outline, and if you simply copy/paste it into Notepad first (before editing it) and then use your text file as the source file for any future edits, then you'd never have to worry about breaking anything. However, if other people are going to be editing it too, then that might not be a realistic solution. I wouldn't think the outline would be changing very often though.

Too bad there isn't a more reliable solution. If the "Edit" option didn't break those links then it would work beautifully, with no problems at all.

I don't know Red, if I linked to every guide you and Paragon Wiki have (both top notch sites I go to *all* the time), the Guide to Guides would be 70% links to your two sites. Both of you are featured in the other websites section.

But tell you what, as long as we stick to the very comprehensive guides, like the ones you link to above... I'll link them in in the next update. (Which will probably happen biweekly now that my editing privileges have expired and I need to go through Lighthouse.)

That was my thinking pretty much. The only other one I thought about mentioning was the Temporary powers (& where to find them) guide, which I don't think I've seen anything similar elsewhere and who doesn't love temporary powers, right?

Great job on the revamp by the way, the guide to guides had become all but redundant not so long ago.
