Interestingly, I think reputable people on these boards have been saying that for as long as I can remember and I've been here since I3. I just figured that it had been ignored for so long that it was "working as intended".

I don't know if I'm happy that it's getting fixed after years of not working, or disappointed that it was never taken seriously enough for someone to at least just take a peek until now.

It had been addressed before, even by Castle about all of the tank attacks having gauntlet. It has been presented in the forum about how the epics did not. My searchfu is not finding the exact thread I wanted, but this linky shows where Castle addressed it.

IMO, I think it was supposed to be there, especially from his statement, but some coding was glossed over when actually applied to tanks.

I can understand why it was missed on all of the powers not in the primary/secondary of a tank because they are used by other AT's.

This does confirm that gauntlet is not working as intended or how the red's thought it was working.

BTW Castle, nerf Frozen Aura, it is just way too powerful.

Correction:
All aspects of Invincibility EXCEPT the taunt effect are working. The Taunt effect, however, appears to only be effecting minions. This is true for all auto-taunt effects, including Gauntlet.

Using mudpots and performing some tests with a scrapper, neither mudpots or gauntlet on my regular attacks could reliably take aggro from anything: It didn't work on minions, Lts, or bosses. Only the taunt skill worked when I first used it.

It's not even affecting minions. I can stand with 3 taunt slotted Invince on my Brute in a mass of grey minions all day long and they do not care at all.
I'm glad someone is looking at it, but if you think it is affecting minions, it hasn't actually been looked at yet.

Unless some special code has been added to specifically *not* taunt greys. Don't know why you'd do that.

But that's what I mean.

People reported it wasn't working. They came back and said it was. They were wrong. Obviously I don't think they were lying, which means somewhere in the chain of events someone didn't take our concerns seriously enough to actually investigate and find out what was really going on. They just took the quick route and came back with "Yep it's working" in order to placate us, when really it never has in all this time. That is what's disappointing.

How are we supposed to have confidence in the answers they give us if something like this can go on for years without them noticing? I know the next time they answer a question telling us something is working fine there's going to be a little voice in the back of head saying "Yeah but is it *really* working, or is it working like they thought gauntlet was working?".

Anyway, like I said just very disappointing. Thank you Castle for fixing it though.

I think tankers should be allowed to have "two." Brutes get single target taunt + fury . Tanker can have Punchvoke + Defiance .

Blasters can get AoE placates

Blasters should get a Defense boost as their Health drops. I think that would be more "Defiant" than the current "I'm taking you with me!"

And yes, giving Tankers their current Defiance would be super cool.

Odd thing happened last night... my fire tank ran up to baddies with my Burning Aura on, got their attention, and ran back to herd spot.... the baddies followed for 2 seconds, then started blasting away at my team's defenders who hadn't done anything that would have aggroed the baddies, and they were further away from them than I was! Weird!

Lower a blaster health the higher there +DEF bonus
Might mean a blaster could survie for another 15 seconds under the aggro they generate.

And a Tanker that had there current Defieance + Guantlet would be kinda interesting... Certainly couldn't be any worse LOL.

I have noticed that EXACT issue while playing my scrapper. Whether it was one tank, or three, the aggro kept coming to me even while the tanks kept hitting and I was running away.

I PMed Cricket about the possibility of taunting being borked. She said she'd pass it along to Q&A and asked me to file a bug report next time it happens so they'll know exactly what was going on at the time. I'd suggest you do the same.

I mentioned long ago that "gauntlet" did not work with power pool attacks, glad to see this is going to be fixed... does it work with Brutes? Or will they use be able to taunt with the power pools also?

Ah, that confirms a long-standing belief of mine. Back when Gauntlet was first introduced, you'd see little "Miss" text occasionally floating above the heads of nearby foes when you were using your Tanker attacks, and we assumed this was the Gauntlet effect missing.

We never, ever saw the "Miss" indicators when using pool attacks, so I assumed Gauntlet never worked on pool attacks. I had even posted my observations, but I was told I was wrong because the devs said it worked with pools too.

Then the "Miss" messages were removed in a later patch, so I forgot about it.

Gauntlet never did work on Pool powers, that was acknowledged months ago. Of course, no explaination other than it was only intended to work on tanker AT powers. Not very conceptually satisfying, glad you're looking into it.

I am sure that there has been a problem with taunt effects for some time.

I just wonder how I managed to get so many kudos for my tanking when Invincibility wasn't working well and I didn't have Taunt. [I now have taunt and it has proven invaluable on smaller teams and in AV fights].

After the release of i8 I played my scrapper some on freedom. For some reason I had the aggro target on my back. Three tanks a taunting, two defenders healing and a dead scrapper in a pear treeeeee

It scares the bejeebus out of me that the broken taunt is not listed in the "known issues".
