PvE should be left alone, but EVERYONE should be auto gimped when entering a PVP zone. The longer the battles, the more fun it gets.

Funny guide, I think we are all frustrated with PvP. I'm a fan of Battlefield 1942. Making a good PvP game has to be one of the toughest things to do well.

When the heroes are at the villain base top, i go on my gravity dom, and wormhole them to the drones, they all hate me now, cause thats what ive been doing for the last week lol. gravity doms rock with wormhole

I mostly agree with Ball. "Tongue In Cheek" doesn't mean "Contains Factual Errors".

The humor was funny. The comments about enhancement levels and dom hold levels were just wrong.

Errata: Level 15 to Enter. All toons Level 15-50 are 'auto-exemplared' to Level 25. Level 25 is the cut off after you have your first 7 primaries (not the last two slots) and first six secondary powers (not the last 3 powers).

Errata - Must be Level 20 to enter. All characters Levels 20-50 are treated as Level 30. Level 30 is the cut off after you have all but your final primary power and but your final two secondary powers. Essentially, it's access to that #8 Primary and #7 Secondary that makes such a difference to so many characters.

The door missions in PvP zones offer better XP than regular door missions with the added convenience of actually being in the same zone as your contact. At higher levels, I can usually do one of those missions in 8-15 minutes, exit the door, call the contact and enter my next mission before the 30 second timer is up.

If you're level 30 with level 30 enhancements, and someone else is level 40 with level 40 enhancements, your enhancements have identical strength. The only way to lvl 40 is better off is if they've added more slots to powers they've gotten before 30.

Second, Dom holds are NOT mag 2. Most are Mag 4 in PvP, just like most controller holds. Other holds (blaster, corruptor, etc.) tend to be Mag 3. The average Dom hold has slightly less duration than the average controller hold, but you can still easily stack them through mez protection. Heroes do have more sources of mez protection buffs at SC's level.

Hero builds are generally considered better than villian builds, overall. This is not the case at Siren's level, however, which is recognized by the Devs and any observant player to be Stalker paradise. It is far easier to get multiple layers of stealth and 2-shot people, than it is to defend against that *at that level* (this changes considerably at higher levels). Other villian ATs aren't nearly as strong in SC, but they still aren't considerably weaker than heroes at that level.

There are, indeed, many holes in the base defenses of the SC villian base. There are also many holes in the hero base defenses, including a way to get right above the only exist to the hero hospital, where you can hit anyone coming out. All of the PvP bases are poorly designed, with the exception of the RV bases.

Finally (and this isn't a complete list), heroes do not taunt villians in broadcast. Villians do not taunt heroes in broadcast. Whiny losers who want to show off their ..... because daddy doesn't love them taunt other people in broadcast. Behavior in PvP zones isn't a heroes and villians thing: it's a general [censored] thing. Get used to it; there isn't a PvP game in existance that doesn't have it, and you will occasionally see it in PvE as well.

His mistakes were "kindly" pointed out in the first page by an intelligent and eloquent poster.

It was evidently tongue in cheek, not only in the title but also in the style of writing. I had no trouble seeing this.

Not sure where all the undue hostility came from, but I thought it was a pretty funny "guide". Even a novice player ins't going to come on and think this is serious stuff, and old-school PvPers will get a hoot out of it if they've played on one of the servers where this imbalance is prevalent. (It's more prevalent on most servers than not - only the two high pop servers have an honest mix-up between heroes and villains.)

If there's one thing I'm learning about gamers after 14 years of gaming though, it is that they won't let anything stand in the way of displaying how they know better than you, and if they can do that in a pedantic and condescending tone, so much the better.

I think the OP has more than paid the price for daring to post humor with factual error in it. I'm sure he won't do that again.

That guide is so true, I have a lvl 36 Blapper(elect/elect) who can two shot-three shot anything pretty much. Heroes are WAY overpowerd and every thing he says happens in SC, ALL the time. You can't deny it, SC belongs to heroes.

Ball, you are being degrading. Sorry bud, but that'd how it comes across in reading this thread.

On topic :

I play villains about 90% of the time. I'll bring my Ice/Dark or Ice/Sonic Corruptor into SC with the War Council team just about anytime. I don't care how stacked the hero team is. Cage the emps, kill the blasters...kill the emps. Push them back to their base. Hold them there. Have the */Kins keep applying ID so we don't get TP'ed into caltrops/trip mines....or droned. It's just what winds up happening.

But it takes a very buffcentric team to do this. This is possible with Corruptors.

My Ice/Dark has two single target holds that he can chain together constantly (with hasten and a SB) to eventually get through any status protection.

Now having extolled the strength of an all corruptor Villain team...

Heroes are way overpowered.

I'll take my fire/NRG blaster in there, and have it buffed at the base (Fort, CM, RA's) and go on a killing spree. The buffs are just that much better. If the emp can follow you around and AP/Heal Other you, then you are gold. I think one of my SG mates commented on how every Ice/NRG blaster all the sudden becomes an SR blaster when the emps roll in. Your only worry is if your Empath gets permacaged.

There is an obvious imbalance between the Hero/Villains. Main cause?

No Villain Empath. Sure, thermal's great. But it's just not an empath.

Next up?

Hero base damage is higher. Villains have a higher damage potential, but never have the chance to build up to that in open zone PvP.

Heroes spike damage better.
Heroes also get unresistable debuffs, that somewhat imbalance things as well. But there has been plenty written about this. If your search-fu is strong, you can find it.

The guide was funny though. I can't imagine how bad it must be for a solo villain to do anything in SC. I'll only go in with a team.

For what? Not for PvE they aren't. I play villains now instead of heroes because Tanking is dead...but that does not mean that heroes are 'way overpowered'. This is the kind of rhetoric that gets nerfsman all fired up about nerfing things. Stop it.

I loathe pvp, so I do not do it. I am going to use a straw man simple argument, because pvp does not warrant anything better; if you think that heroes are so overpowered, play one and stop complaining.

Heroes are way overpowered in PvP. I am sorry you didn't make the connection between my post and the topic of the post. This really is accepted by most of the PvP community, as far as base damage numbers go.

For the record, I love playing my villains in PvP. Corruptors are the shining example of things the dev's got "Right" for the Villian AT's. I love playing my Corruptors in PvE. I have 3 50 villains, they are all Corruptors. I have still yet to lvl a brute past 42. I'll probably get a MM to 50 before either of my brutes (42 and 38).

Please take things in context. Because you don't like to PvP (Understandable), puts a big impass in any future discussions. Sorry bud.

Anyone coming across this there are some obvious errors - enhancements are capped at 30 - powers available to all are capped at powers you took until 30 - slots - slots are not. For example - I talke ice bolt and all through my lil life I kept it at 1 slot for acc. Then at 40 I get my three slots and decided to put them all in ice bolt - now it is 4 slotted and you know what - when I show up in sirens - it is still 4 slotted...

a 50 will argue with you "we are all 30 here..." then point out "yes but you have more slots than I"..you will soon hear "THEN GO LEVEL..IS IT MY FAULT I AM A 50?? NOOB"

Also - Empaths - they are like remoras - you will find them attached to a blaster or scrapper..if your a dom leave - you have just been negated by one power - CM. If your a stalker leave you have just been negated by one power CM. If your a brute leave - You have just been negated by two powers Absorb Pain and Fort..If your a ...well you get the point. We have nothing like an empath. Nothing...sure the herpes (oops) heroes will say "you have therms..." laugh at them. Fort > Forge CM > Thaw....the end. A therm in SC can maybe heal for 300 with a pretty hefty end drain - Absorb Pain - no end drain and 900+ heals. That is right 900+ that is almost full health for a tank!..sure they cannot heal themselves for a bit of time but a good emp will have sup invi (troller) or invis+ps so their health is just fine...and god forbid you go after the emp - the wrath of all who worship the temple of empness will crush you..oh you might take him or her out but you and all your children's children will be dead.

You will hear this one a lot "get a team" if you dare to complain...the problem is SC is turning into Stalkers and MM's. A good corr team shows up now and again..but more often than not your LFT goes unanswered these days. Heroes think they team well, they don't. They team with defenders and controllers well yeah. I know one team where the empath stays in the hospital - never leaves - buffs the blaster who comes out kills two or three till he dies then does it all over again....is that teaming>?? or prostitution lol!!

Sigh - having been back to sirens I thought it was time to bump this

While I've found that villains tend to have the upper hand a lot more now that a good number of them are also 50 and have little else to do with their characters besides PvP, it's easy for anyone to get frustrated when they're getting clobbered.

Though, regarding slots, those get debuffed even if you're exemplared. Not quite sure if Sirens keeps them at a similar rate in order to preserve the advantage or not, but it was worth mentioning - quite a few times my exemplared enhancements were worth less than the "natural" leveled heroes I've teamed with, though that's a problem with exemplaring more than anything.
