COP questions
This trial requires a raidable base, us PvE folks are left out of the newest PvE addition to CoH in well over a year.
It's only a PvE addition because the PvP part isn't working yet. So technically, it's not PvE at all. It will, once it's fully functioning, open your base to PvP Raids. If that's not what you want, CoP is not for you.
Agent Parker -- Mind/FF Snark Lord
Captain Hadron -- Will/TW Immovable Object
Destroyer-X -- Elec/EA SMASH
Ms Apprehension -- Ill/Rad Chaos Controller
Permanent resident of Virtue

Having an IoP in your base flags it to accept raids, or it will once all the kinks are worked out. The Cathedral of Pain is a for PvP, it's always been explained that way.
yes, but for right now, this is PVE content. Go enjoy it.
don't worry, the PVP content won't suddenly go live. They'll announce that before it happens and it won't happen mid-cycle, so you'll lose your Items of Power and can simply not reacquire any when PVP is live. (and really, at the speed this stuff rolls out, it may be a good number of cycles before the PVP version launches.)
OR
maybe you'll find you really like the Items of Power and give PVP a try in order to keep getting them.
OR
maybe you will find you love Items of Power and can express to the Devs your love of them and your reluctance to lose them when the PVP version is going to go live.
once u defeat the mobs and Rularuu's force fields falls, will the mobs respawn and his shield come back up?

I'm well aware of that. I don't flap my keyboard as much as you, but I read and comprehend just fine. It still doesn't change the fact that a trial that is vs NPCs is not doable unless you agree to be subject to PvP.
Thank you for the post MadScientist. I hadn't thought to "sneak" in while raids were disabled.
Forgive me for assuming a simple misunderstanding.
Don't worry about it too much, Athyna.
If this thread, and the several others about Cathedral are any indication -- there's still a very large portion of the playerbase that's still asking what to some may seem basic essential questions.
It doesn't seem particularly safe to presume that everyone's on the same page concerning Cathedral (especially since it's relatively new to Live and complex).
Given busy I was answering Questions on Triumph Watch last night, the 'average' player is very confused about it.
Still Lady_Sadako's basic guide covers the essentials, and I am sure ones with more specifc tactics will develop.
The difference between a mainly 50 hero team and a more rag-tag group of Villans was quite dramatic.

I will not hide my ignorance, I will wear it as a badge of pride!
Speaking of steenkin' badges, does the trial give one??
How many times during the 7 day window can one SG run the CoP assuming they can fit 5 IoPs in their base? i.e. Do the stackable IoPs count as one plot or two?

As many as they like. There's no apparent limit on how many times you can run the trial while it's open. The only limit is on how many IoPs you can earn.

The art is there. It hasnt been unlocked by anyone yet.

now, i know you could do the trial with 24 people on test, can you still do that on live or am i just crazy?
From Swampchicken:

We had a guy get 52K (out of SG mode) and 55K (in SG mode) for a +3 mission bonus.
[/ QUOTE ]
This from one XP buff IoP.
That's a bit more than a 1% increase. That's more like 6%.
Maybe, as Swampchicken suggests, the buffs have been placed after all, but the text has been left unchanged? Anyone got any data to add here?
Is the official number 20 or 24 that can participate in the raid on the live servers?
When the trial 'breaks' on the 16th, will all power items be removed?
If coaliation members supposedly can help with base-raids, why can't they participate in the COP?

they disappear when the next cycle starts, 3 weeks after the trial closes.

coalitions can't help with raids. (aside from being buff sources.)
you can take 24 on this. I didn't test more.

This is my experience:
DoIDD ran the CoP with nine people and failed. We waited for the time to run out and ran it again with 14 people and failed. We ran it a third time with 19 people and completed it.
We were rewarded with an IoP. Went to the mission computer to run the CoP again and there was no option to run the CoP mission.
So, if a SG fails the CoP during the seven day window, then they can run it as many times as they want to until they complete it and fill up their five vaults with items of power. Once all their vaults are filled, then the mission computer does not give them the option to do the CoP again.
When is CoP comming back! our VG was planning on doing it the wednesday evening it was taken down
Are we at least on track to have the COP go live again on November 6th? That would be the start of a new cycle.
(never mind getting a chance for every SG to catch up to the SGs who have managed to benefit from IOPs for the past 2 weeks because they got organized faster.)
I have never been so utterly upset with the developers in my 3 years of paying for this game...
as per
http://www.coh.com/community/cov_ann..._positron.html
When Positron was asked
Q: When can the players expect Cathedral of Pain to come back?
The answer is and I qoat
"If I were to use my crystal ball I would say Issue 9, but there is always the possibility of it getting in before then."
so... lemme get this straight...
they developed this content, released it, realized it had a bug... and are going to have it fixed inside of 6 months???
what, exactly, is a coding priority for the Devs right now?
simple rule of business, you never take something away from the customer. They took away the Cathedral, with no real explanation. I don't feel like they're working to get it back to us.

The explanation was that there was an exploit within it that the devs felt was serious enough to pull the entire CoP experience.
The CoP probably isn't a big coding priority right now, given that it is used by a subset of SGs / VGs anyway, with the size of that subset to decrease rapidly once bases become raidable. Compared to say, Inventions and new powersets, it likely doesn't rank highly on the priority list of fixes.

Okay, um, about how high are the levels for this? Is it set, or dependant on the highest level in the group. Is there a minimum and maximum level? Thanks.

Last time it was on test, I think everyone was auto sk'ed to 50.
