  1. I would like to sincerely thank Cryptic and Paragon studios for having provided me with so many wonderful hours of game, for a great community full of wonderful friends, for a place for The Cape Radio to exist, and for having made my life more fun during the time I played this game. Best of wishes to the developers, the community team and everyone else at Paragon.

And now I haz a sad.
  2. Okay so I just did this ...

    Is that seriously *IT*?

I mean ... great writeup for the announcement, but is this entire event seriously just "take zombie invasion, substitute nemesis mobs for zombie mobs, give badge"?

    Because ... where's the story?

Please, CoH Staff ... tell me that this is not it. Please tell me that there's more to come for this event, and that writeup you did with Nemesis in the sub wasn't wasted on ... that.

    Because that's sad.

    I am very disappointed.

But yeah. Really? 800 points? That's insane. Well ... it will be a learning experience for their marketing department.

Also minus 20 million points for using "Sure and begorrah".

Irish people are people. Irish myth is fascinating and has depth, not only stupid stereotypes. If you released a little black sambo pet and used pidgin English in the ad for it, your doors would close forever.

If they were versatile enough, it might even be okay to reduce them to a bi-monthly offering instead of a monthly one.... I bet the vast majority of VIPs would be okay (even thrilled) with seeing their twelve annual server transfers replaced with six annual transfers/side-switches/renames they could pick and choose as they wanted.
I really, really love this idea. More flexibility with these tokens than "server transfer" would be fantastic. I play on Virtue. I will always play on Virtue. Forever. But an Account Service token would be a remarkably nice perk that would keep me paying for a long time.

Of course he's absent. He's off on the rooftops, watching over Paragon City as his friend is put in the ground.

She left our SG under good terms, for RP reasons, and we have always kept our doors open to former members. I am deeply saddened to realize that we have, indeed, lost one of our own within the Technocratic Union.

    Goodbye, Salsakitten. Be seeing you.
As the co-founder of the TU (and Sith's husband), I'm in the same boat as Sith here. I am profoundly sad to find that I missed reconnecting with a good friend when we came back from our long hiatus from Paragon City. I have had so much fun talking with Salsakitten in RP Virtue over the past few months and she will be missed terribly by everyone there. All of my love and thoughts to Thorgar and their children.

@Salsakitten will be remembered. For now, I shall be grateful that I have reconnected with an old and dear friend in this game, and I raise a glass to the kitten and her wolf. I love you both.

    That's a great comic?
I enjoyed it. Alot of other people enjoyed it. YMMV.

There's a lot more questions to be answered and story to be explored, even after his death.

And trust me, his death scene is pretty stirring.
Honestly ... Superman's (short-lived) death was revealed months before the comic came out. And it was still a great comic. If the people who *wrote* the arc want to set it up as a spoiler, I'm confident that the parts that remain unsaid are going to be the good parts.
  10. I suspect there will be alot of silly whinging about the lack of stuff for people who already own everything.

But ... that VIP starter is NICE. I'm already VIP, been a subscriber for years, but if I was a new player, this would get me in the door. Good going.

Nice to see the Martial Arts Super Pack available in full form. I am now sad that I bought Ninja Run by itself last month ...
  11. They only drop from level 50+ mobs. Your character's level does not matter, just the mob. So if you're SKed to someone and fighting 50+ mobs, you are eligible for a purple drop when the mob dies.

They are not, however, in the mission complete pool or available from merits.
  12. Sidenote: Flash is Mag 3, not Mag 2. And although I don't have it on my Ill/Rad, it's not a subpar hold, it works pretty much the same as the other PBAoE holds like Cinders. The activation time is long (3 seconds) but if you're invisible who cares.

That being said, I still don't use it for the reason you'd mentioned -- it leaves your squishy behind in the middle of whomever resisted it. PAs are a much better solution for your alpha strike.

  14. I had a very interesting discussion about this just now. At first look, I thought that the complaints about this were kind of silly, but I did get given one good point. If possible, it would be nice for people who are logged in and just *in* the job locations to get progress towards the badges. For example, if you spend an hour talking in Pocket D, you get an hour towards the badge. After all, you are "clubbing".

Clearly, the tech can *recognize* if you're in those locations and logged in, per the description of the in-game "power buff". So it seems likely the tech for that would exist. And it would allow people who spend time just RPing or hanging out the opportunity to make progress towards their day jobs. Obviously we don't want this to happen in areas where you can grind, but it makes sense in areas with no enemies.

I wonder if this could be examined by the Devs as a possibility to make some of the detractors happy?
  15. Wow. This really is bad. I think this time the Doom is merited.

    You must check it!!!

    COP questions

It's only a PvE addition because the PvP part isn't working yet. So technically, it's not PvE at all. It will, once it's fully functioning, open your base to PvP Raids. If that's not what you want, CoP is not for you.

I've searched to no avail. Is there a guide for the CoP for those of us who are new to it?

Are you kidding? If they change Hamidon to *anything* other than a 2 hour session of Dominate on Auto-fire, I'll be thrilled. I don't care *what* Hamidon becomes. Task Force AV, SHOE Quartermaster, New Contact for MAGI After Azuria Finally Gets Canned. As long as the encounter becomes *interesting* again.

Right, let's list all the villains that have a power centre.

    1) The Council
    2) ...
    3) Er
    4) That's it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have a theory. I'm going to register it here, just in case I'm correct, so that I may trumpet my triumph later on.

Others have mentioned the hope that the Hami raids go away when Statesman's Task Force hits.

Positron mentions "Heroes and Villains banding against a common foe"

Hamidon is certainly the power center of the Devouring Earth ...

And I don't think anyone would argue that he's not a "common foe"

    I'm seeing a magnificent possibility here ...

God in heaven, not Hero/Villain Hami raids ... but maybe something ... better? Maybe Hamidon ... changes? In a big, spectacular, story-filled way?

    Hmmmmmmmmm.

Edit: Or ... maybe I'm not the first. But ... it's a nifty idea.

That'll teach me to post predictions before reading the whole thread.
  21. Kudos on an amazing backgrounder! Frostfire's personal story is the kind of thing that great comics are pulled from!
  22. Wife and I met playing LARP ... when I got CoH she laughed at me for an even bigger geek for a month -- until I made her sit down at the costume creator. Now she's outstripped my primary in security levels and she's the heart and soul of our SG.
