In a useless attempt to get this thread back on track...

Graver, that's look awesome! It gives Battle-Angel a darker side than usual, which is great since she's supposed to be caught between Heaven and Hell.

I can't wait to see this one done!

*wanders through the thread a bit wide eyed.*

Wow, you people, uh, you people really do go on, doncha?

*desperately tries to shove some posts aside to clear a little bit of room for the latest but modest Battle-Angel update*

Again, wow.

I'd comment, but I'm currently picking my jaw off the floor.

Great job graver. Seriously. It's amazing. I want one!

i'm in the line for the second time now, last in line too XD

it'll be awesome to see each and every one of those drawings, to see Graver's take on the characters, he seems to get out the personality in each one, with stunning detail, and this one is no exception, the wings look amazing, if only the game had that good wings

Wow! I just love the look of the wings! They look so soft, I wann reach out and touchy. And I wish we had that type of boot design in game.

Looking forward to seeing the final piece!

WIP+ Work In Progress

Graver -- now you've gone and mastered Digital Painting as well as Water Colors. What program are you using?

Brilliant stuff!

Unlike others, Shia doesn't do 'work in progress'... shia is too FAST for that.

*blink* what you're done already?? whoa.

Seriously, I'm really not a zombie! I didn't die and this is not my flesh hungry corpse typing this out. I'm very much alive, I swear! Just to prove it, I have several updates, one of which is for this piece, Battle Angel: Color 01.05somenumber623Ihavenoidea

There was actually a lot more work that went into getting this far then is evident, but the 22+ hrs wasted on a bad direction and figuring out how to do what I have in my mind digitally isn't really represented well. I'd have to say, it is a lot different from regular painting.

Brandon, for your question, for this piece, I'm using Painter IX and an intous 1 wacom tablet... not much else

And Shia, yup, it's almost all ccg. There is a little bit I did cheat on and that's the texture for the initial background. That is actually a scan from part of an old painting that I will never finish. I'm really digging digital painting, but I find it very difficult t get some of the randomness of traditional paint... something I rely strongly on, especially for backgrounds. For my old oils, I would usually end up throwing turpentine at the canvas and let it do interesting things to the paint to help determine what was going on back there... I needed that for this piece as well. Now, since I felt that not only would throwing turpentine at my screen not have much of an effect on the digital painting, but might wreck havoc on the monitor, I needed to find another way of injecting a touch of unpredictable randomness into things..,. and so... scan!

Um, ya.

Babble over.

I really dig this but...

There's just something about it that doesn't quite sit well with me.

I think it's the way that her left shoulder (to our right) is higher than her right, but yet her chest is level? Wouldn't having her bent sideways like that tend to cause her chest to shift in that direction as well? I know that corsets are fairly rigid, but... even so, it just doesn't seem like that rigidity is shown. The effect (to me) is that her upper body is out of proportion to her shoulders and hips.

I hope I'm not confusing anyone here.
