Gauntlet. Tank's Inherent (almost) useless?
[ QUOTE ]
They never should have named the AT, Tank. The name we always used for the big overly-muscled guy who could take damage and dish it out in melee is Brick. IE... He hits like a ton of bricks. Hitting him was like hitting a brick wall. ETC....
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never heard that used before. Just like you want Brick I want Tank. That is a minor (if any) problem.
Dude, everyone knows that the tank is the one that can take damage like no one else and shoot for insane damage with ranged nukes
*Bricks comes from some Marvel Comics pen and paper RPG btw

*Bzzzzt* wrong answer. Here's our lovely parting gift.
Champions is the origin, like most of the terms people use to describe superheroes from an RPG perspective.

Yeah, Champions predates most other super hero RPGs. Personally I favored Villains and Vigilantees in the day.
Too many alts to list.

Well i really dont like pen and paper rpgs, never palyed any [superheroes one]. I know it was Champions only by name but i also tought Champions was a Marvel Comics PnP game.
Oh well... tanks still should be able to blast huge nukes!
Look at the development history of CoH. Originally an open ended design system. Jack touts the greatness of freeform system as an MMO milestone. Gets NCsoft as publisher. Garriott says "my way or the highway". ATs get added. Jack touts the greatness of the AT system as making the game a true MMO, and that it will help prevent gimps. Did the system really prevent gimps? No. As easy to gimp yourself in CoH than any freeform system. All it really prevents is making true-to-form comic book superheroes - where everyone is a tank mage.
The only way to avoid gimpness is to force powers into the player that are granted automaticaly at levelups, and even then, the gimp may still not even use them :P
All in all, i ponder what SOE is planning to do with their DC comics MMO...

That really is the question I am hanging on. Will they do superheros right? Will Sony screw the pooch again? I'm hoping for a free form system which accomplishes the former. Somehow my very cynical nature expects the latter.
Too many alts to list.

Yeah, it'll be interesting. I've already learned that it appears that Ravensoft (X-Men Legends, etc.) is the development house doing the Marvel MMO. Well actually the problem is, that unless they change their gaming paradigm it's likely to only be MO dropping the "Massively". My guess is that "Marvel Ulmitate Alliance" is a logical step toward an online version of that game, which may be all the MO version turns out to be. After all that game will have 140 signature heroes available for teaming at release (MUA, not the MO).
Closest Ive come to figuring Gauntlet out is, you have to slot a Taunt Enhancement into an attack to make it work right. Having said that who wants to slot Taunt into an attack when we need Damage, Accuracy, Attack Rate Increases and Endurance Reductions? Answer: Not me. So IMHO Gauntlet is a useless power, pure and simple. Besides I dont really understand the point of it since our defenses have been reduced so drastically. It seems a more appropriate Inherent Power would be some sort of defense or resist. You know, the lower your Hit Points get the tougher you get or, even something like Brutes Rage, only to a lesser extent. Then Gauntlet would make sense.

3rd Tuesdays (Odd months) Freedom, (Even months) Virtue, 4th Tuesday, Tour, Server TBA
Brutal Thrashing Thursdays: Justice (ask Papa Slade when),meet in RWZ 6pm PT9pm ET.
I think that's mostly your Taunt Aura working as intended. Gauntlet may help with that a bit, but Chilling Embrace is by far the most effective Taunt Aura around due to its active slow component. Also are you slotting Taunt Enhancements in your attacks? Because as I understand it that would help. The way I see it an Inherent Power shouldnt require Enhancements. Not much of an Inherent Power if you have to do that.
I run mostly Fire/* Tanks, but I do run some of each of the Tanker Primaries. Of all these my Ice/Fire tank does the best of holding aggro, and that is due to Chilling Embrace.

BTW, I was just on an EB store and the game features 20 characters you can team with, the 140 signature heroes available is listed as "to interact with", so those will be NPCs.
Ah. Well 20 was how they demoed it at E3. I was under the impression there'd be more by year end when they release.

Like I said I think ultimately all 140 can be available to play.
Thats an issue I have heard many complain off lately, gauntlet being working intermitently or something.
However about the quote (asuming AV agro loss is a bug) truth is you dont need gauntlet to keep that single AV as single target taunting built in the powers and taunt auras, that also would have touch-taunt without gauntlet, would still do the job. So thats not Gauntlet working there, a Brute would be able to do just the same.
