We can argue with the specifics all we want, but the game is a better place all around.

Except for The Hollows... I can never forgive him for that.

lol <'x'> Ok I'll agree to that one! <,< Lol <;.;> sad thing is, I had fun with it the first time I tried it; every time since its like I'm cursed to die horribly there lol ><

[/ QUOTE ]

If I knew of its coordinates, I'd position my main fleet over the Hollows and open fire. The Hollows is a horrid, horrid place. I didn't like it the moment I set foot in it.

Ya know, the game still belongs to him >.>

Besides, I think that whole Zeus thing is kinda cool.

[/ QUOTE ]

I gotta agree, maybe its just because I read the book though >.>

I mean, I won't deny the signature chars are WAY overpowered compared to us when in Hero/AV form; but at least when they're in EB form we stand a pretty good chance of beating them 1v1 - which I think is awesome.

Also, States is kind of what the game is partly *based* on; just from a story thing. If States as a character hadn't been around; it's doubtful that any of the other heroic stuff would have happened like it did (you'd have to read the backstory >.&gt

After carefully taking apart and micro-analyzing the above quote, I have determined that Jack intends to nerf regen.

That is all for now.

You are soooo wrong.

They have realized that they can not get Regen to fit in and still be fun, so it is being removed and shelved.

Hey, as I see it, why NOT give NPC heroes powers and power levels not available to PC ones? The background text for a lot of the contacts makes quite a few of them low-levelled supers with funky powers, or retired ones. Atlas himself had super-growth... it adds to the colour of the game and makes it closer to the comics for powers they either can't yet do in the game (growth, shapechange), or which they don't have to balance (signatures, SVs) to be done this way.

Archetypes and power sets are artificial constructs - it's actually nice to know that the "real" world Paragon is set in is not limited by what player characters have available. (Also gives them a lot of scope to introduce new stuff later on).

Also... when running my Champions campaigns, my characters were never the *most* powerful supers in the world. I always made sure there were a few very tough NPC heroes that could hand them their butts if needs be. Always good design to do this.

Hmm, sometimes yes, sometimes no. I have played with several players who are of the 'History Maker' variety...if their character can't be THE BEST at something in the game, they are not satisfied.

IMO, good design takes into account the needs and desires of as much of the player base as possible. Of course, doing that for 5 people sitting around a table is trivial compared to doing it for tens of thousands sitting behind their computer screens

Yep its a much better game. Less people to play with while at the same time making soloing for a lot of toons imposable. Uping the graphics while making the load times and lag much worse. More nerfs to players while buffing the cons to point were you have to have a full team and 40 min to kill a AV/Monster/Hero. Yep been here sence I2 and wow do I enjoy this City of CR@P over City of Heros\Villians. Can you feed me some more please I think im begining to enjoy the aftertaste. NOT!

I feel like I'm missing content or something. What lag? My load times are the same as before, both hero side and villain side. Loading and lag I get on my laptop, but it's the same as it's always been, no worse than six months ago.

Dammit! States, give me lag just like everybody else!

Well in CoV I have had lag/load time problems sence it started. That is why i dont play it (waste of $30). And CoH only sence the last issue. The best part of the lag with CoV is the longer I play the worse it gets so just a guess off the top of my head but that tells me sloppy code. I mean really who cares how cool they can get the graphics if due to bad code you cant play it anyways. In all the time i have played i have only heard maybe a dozen people say they dont have lag, get huge burps or ruberbanding. And even they do get some they say they dont but when one of those big burps happens they are usally the first to sound off about it. But hay I dont have a top of the line comp just a little 2.5 ghz, 1 GB RAM, Nvidia 6600gt system with high speed internet. CoX is the only game/anything I every have problems with online, but its must be me not the game. (not directed at you Lady just a rant)

We're running 2 similarly-specced systems in CoV and experiencing none of what you're saying, so it must be you, not the game.

Seriously, though, the progressive failure sounds like a memory leak, which happens quite regularly- not as sloppy of code as you think, it's just most non-online games are open-n-shut more often and get these areas wiped.

Now, since by the sound of it, you're getting hit a little more than the average CoV'er, (who DOES play with machines lower than your specs (on average, believe it or not)) this would suggest that the memory issues might be related to something other than MMO's. CoH uses alot of the code libraries already on your machine- Microsoft's .NET architecture, for example, and much of the DirectX codebase.

It is possible- perhaps even likely, given how isolated the probems you're reporting are, that the problem exists in that supporting software. A single bad data read/write can add instability to any of these components and create leaks that would seem to be coming from the game.

No problem. But, from following a few bits and pieces in the Technical Issues area, it sounds like you might be having problems with the elusive memory leak I've heard about. The bit about it getting worse the longer you play is why I'm thinking memory leak.

And I can't compare machines. I don't know jack about mine. My husband built it for me. And no, I don't think people are exagerrating about lag and such but, if it was truly the game, wouldn't it affect everyone? I don't know. But, there's been a few threads about problems like that in the Technical Issues area, a few rednames follow that area looking for tech type problems.

I wish I could help more. My case is black and silver if that helps... I doubt it but that's about as tech as I can get.

No, it wouldn't necessarily effect everyone. There are thousands upon thousands of possible combinations of hardware, software, and internet connections between the 180 000 some odd CoX subscribers. Its quite believable that some people will have no problems, while others will have massive problems.

Its pretty clear that these problems people are having since I7 are due to I7. If we could play CoH fine before I7, and have made no changes to our system since before I7, and suddenly the game is performing terribly, it's fairly evident that the problem lies not with the users, but with the changes made to the game in I7.

My personal experience is that I now get three or four hard crashes out of CoX to desktop every day now, where prior to I7 I would experience a crash like that at most once a month, and probably much less frequently than that. I haven't made any changes to my system.

It just doesn't make a bit of sense as far as fitting the topic. I mean, c'mon. At what point does a smaller size car prevent you from falling through a semipermeable cell wall?
