Beyond that, we are looking to release another Issue building up the story towards our next retail box, due in 2007. This will include going back and revamping some of the zones from City of Heroes, using everything we've learned from making City of Villains and Issue 7, plus a bunch of other cool stuff including new powersets and an epic archetype. Of course for the retail box we will be creating all-new zones and content based on the results of the forum poll we posted last month. The retail box will be an expansion to both City of Heroes and City of Villains.

[/ QUOTE ]

One question, will the next retail box be an Stand-a-lone Expansion or an Expansion pack that one has to have either City of Heroes or City of Villains to use, or has that been determined as of yet?

[/ QUOTE ]

It will NOT be a stand alone.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh. My. God. We need more info than that!

Happy Anniversary! Thanks for a great 2 years. Playing CoX is a family affair at my house. My wife and 2 kids all play as well as my brother and his girlfriend who are in another state.

Wanted to send a special thanks to States, Posi, _castle_, cuppa, awry and everyone else who helps to make Paragon and The Isles such interesting and entertaining places to reside.

Thanks for the ride and me and mine are ready for more!

Happy 2nd Anniversary everyone! I will be here as long as the game is going! Me and my girlfriend met on here about a year and a half ago and things are still going well for us so we have a special place in our hearts for the City of games.

Happy Anniversary and many thanks for an incredible game! I've only been playing for a little more than a year but I'm in it for the long haul. Can't wait to learn all about the new, upcoming content too. Keep up the fine work.

Happy Birthday (what that is what it is isn't it?) City Of...!

You've taken a player of FPS into the realm of MMORPG's with ease and grace...and created an altoholic.

And on this 2nd anniversary you've forced this altoholic to create a second account! Something I had been holding off on for a long time. But with such goodies in the pipeline, how I can resist!

Just keep on giving us stuff to do, powers to take and zones to play in and I"ll be one happy monkey! The bonus badges and extra fun goodies are just icing on an already rich cake.
Nerfs be damned I still adore this game.

Congrats on the promotion Posi you deserve it!!

And I'm hooked, for life.

Thanks for two+ years of good memories, and here's to many more.

Mmmmm... Statesman mentioned sometime previously about "incarnates"... like Lord Recluse and Statesman... that is my guess for the epic AT.

That's what I was complaining about. You'll just have to plop down $35 (you'll get a "month free" inside the box that costs $50 on the shelf) to avoid being put in the "have nots" category in the game. That's lame.

I'd much prefer just tacking an additional $3 on each month's fee and make _all_ expansions free. It's about the same money either way (except spread out more with the no-box-expansion route) but it avoids segmenting the playerbase. I find very little value in buying the cardboard from the store. Heck, even the disks are useless since you'll have pre-downloaded all of the content on it before it's available in stores anyway.

If it's just a matter of putting something new on the shelves (so they don't get shoved to the back), why not re-release the original box (with updated content on the CD so people don't have to download it all when they buy the game) with new art featuring whatever new stuff is in the expansion with each issue? That would keep the CoH box in the "new releases" shelf fairly regularly while keeping the playerbase from segmenting.

Heck, it's annoying enough when you're teamed with someone who can't use your base's teleporters because they don't own CoV. Imagine if you had to ask the team if they all had Box #3 before you selected a mission in one of the new zones? At least bases are mostly useless so it hasn't been a big problem yet.

Happy 2nd Birthday!

I have played many other games, but nothing has grasped my attention more than this one. There have been rocky moments, bad decisions in my eyes, but I keep coming back. Although I saw it as a bad move to add PvP into this game, you always made it up by adding something else worthwhile.

I hope to be here to see what you guys do in another year, and I really want to see these new AT's. Keep up the good work everyone!

P.S. Maybe in future issues....less on PvP, more on everything else. For the people, not against!

Hmm. As an expansion that adds cooperative content between CoH and CoV, I think it could add quite a bit and still be 'good'.

I'm definitely more of a "watch and see" on this.

Still here, even after all this time!

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I just can't see what's to get all excited about with that address. We've waited half a year so far for an issue and still haven't seen it. Sounds like once we do, chances are we will only see one more issue this year. Then instead of giving content and reasons for players to keep their accounts active, they figure they will award ingame items for those who do. So a player has to stay subscribed to the game for which there is nothing new to them in order to unlock trenchcoats or something?(example) Seems like a lazy way to stop all the players who have been leaving the game.

Then there is talk of another retail box. Which brings it's own set of questions. Will it feature SG items that members can only access with the new box ala bases? That was the worst idea ever and lead to many players I know quitting because they didn't want to be a villain. And speaking of bases, another poster was correct, they are next to useless. The teleporters are nice, but we STILL haven't got the IoPs and all the other stuff that was promised with them when they first came out.

The only potential good news that came out of the address is the possibility that finally zones like Boomtown, RCS, and Faultline will get redone and won't remain the useless areas they currently are. I can't believe it's been 2 years and they still offer the playerbase nothing in these zones.

It doesn't sound like anything huge is planned for 2006. I am looking forward to I-7(if it ever gets released) and the patron powers and new powersets. But the devs better wow us in the next year, because come 2007 they get competition. And those of you swearing lifetime allegiance to CoX may end up eating your words.

And I never saw Rikti homeworld as the front-runner in the new zone poll. Looked to me like underwater was the clear winner in that poll amongst the posters. And it cracks me up reading how some of the posters act like they know what's up with the EATs. Corrallax will be released in I-9, Avilians will be good guys, blah blah blah. It's speculation only.

Of course I was speculating. No one has any idea what the new EATs will be. However, I based my "I9" answer on this paragraph from Poz:

The previous two paragraphs dealt with Issues 7 and 8, so I assume "another Issue, building up the story" would be I9. I9 is described as a revamp of CoH content, along with new powersets and a new EAT. The only EATs they have talked about are the ones I mentioned. Do we know which EATs will be heroic or villainous? No. We do know that Villains can't make Kheldians, and there has been no word that they will be able to once they can reach 50. So, I guessed Coralax as the next EAT for villains, because they seem to be evil and we see them a lot in CoV.

Not in I7 no, but I'll put good money down that they'll appear in I8. We didn't see Kheldians until I3 remember - and they came after the lvl 50 content was put into place.
